@DanielRavenNest: Not meant to be a hostile comment here. So you cache everything you see on Sim A then fly off to Sim B. While you're enjoying Sim B, somebody adds a new texture to Sim A. When you return to Sim A your cache is out of date. Even if only one little 32x32 has changed, you're going to have to go through a lot of computing to find the changes; indeed a lot of computing to check if there -were- any changes. OR the server is going to have to continually update your cache to reflect every change in every sim from which you have cached textures. Furthermore, given the size of SL, no matter how big a cache you have a busy AV will fill it up. So the client will have to start culling. What to cull? There will be a bunch of computing going on to figure that out. Is it obvious that having a bigger cache is more efficient, given the dynamic nature of SL?

The real reason for all these changes is so Linden Lab can sell advertisements on our profiles.

It's 42 groups because you can just list them in a table 6 columns wide and 9 rows deep.

Simcity, not TSO, was the start of my infatuation with 'games' based on building instead of fighting. The pleasure of creating, after much effort, a steady state megalopolis remains a high point in my memory. SL in 2005 seemed like Simcity on steroids, and I have remained interested far longer than I ever expected.
Someone with a Simcity genealogy is an inspired choice, and I am regaining hope that SL will once again prosper. Good luck, Rod, and welcome.

Yay!!! We can use our own text editor for scripts!
I'd like to hear suggestions from people who have used a non-Linden editor for lsl scripts.

Viewer 2.3 Beta Available Today With Display Names and More

The code to support Display Names only on some of the main grid's servers so far. Try "Bay City - Morton". I know that sim has Display Name server code already.
Nope. I'm standing in Bay City - Morton as I write this and I see no way to change my display name in my profile.

The 'Wear' button no longer works when I highlight an outfit in the "My Appearance" panel. This is a show stopper for me. Sorry. The detachable menus are great.

To the paragraph on shape I would add a reference to http://pennycow.blogspot.com/2011/08/matter-of-proportion.html. I see altogether too many girls with impossibly tiny waists and impossibly large butts, and guys with impossibly tiny heads and impossibly large ... um ... oh ... that part isn't controlled by your shape..
