  1. Hello wheelierder. As Kolby mentioned is good to read the topics in InWorldEmployment category and also in Wanted Caterory. Don't wait only someone to call you. In addition have a look at the following link. It 's about jobs you can do or no in SL: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Guide_to_Jobs_in_Second_Life Good luck.
  2. Hello. You can download the previous edition of viewer 2 (2.6.9) at the following link: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Supported_Viewers
  3. Hello Syo. The problem is not for all. For example i downloaded and installed the new version without problems. On the other side i see that several users have exactly the same problem tonight with the new version. I am sure that LL read the topics tonight and also the Q&A and that soon they will fix the problem (if it is possible). The good is that downloading the previous edition of V2 resolves the problem and you can log in again. The last i have to say is that (for my opinion) the page with SL System requirements seems to be out of date after the last update(s) (i mean graphics cards) and maybe LL is good to refresh it.
  4. That's good Leander. :smileywink: Edit: Not sure why so many users have the same exactly problem. I hope LL to read the topics (Forums are full with it) and fix it soon.
  5. Hello Karma. Download again the previous edition of viewer 2 (2.6.9) and set your software updates NO to be installed automatically. (Preferences --> Setup --> Hardware) http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Supported_Viewers
  6. Hello Zac. As i see you are not the only. You are the 4rth or 5th user tonight with exactly the same problem. Maybe we can start a jira about that. Zac Remex wrote: I m currently reinstalling the 2.6.9 version, but does anyone have any ideas? That's what you must to do but remember when you log in to set your software updates NO to be installed automatically. (Preferences --> Setup --> Hardware) Let us know if you fixed the problem with the previous edition of V2.
  7. Hello sahar. The answer at a great video of Torley Linden. Check it out: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Video_Tutorial/What_is_a_group_liability%3F To stop to pay for that, just leave of the group.
  8. Hello silvarana. I copy my answer i gave some mins ago in another user with the same problem: ...."The easy reply and maybe solution about your problem is to download again a previous edition of Viewer 2 and set your software updates NO to be installed automatically. (Preferences --> Setup --> Hardware). You can find the previous edition 2.6.9 at the following link: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Supported_Viewers If you want older more versions you can find them here down at the page. If the problem remains and you are a premium member you can use the Live Chat or to submit a ticket https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ . If you are a basic member it is not suggested to submit a ticket although you can try it. Start this way downloading a previous edition of Viewer 2 and keep in touch here leting us know if you fixed the problem or you need more help".
  9. Hello Lydia. Not sure why you have this problem. As i see in System Requirements page, the 4000 series of ATI included in the recommended system requirements for SL. However this page after the new update of Viewer 2 (2.7.1) looks that it is out of date. The easy reply and maybe solution about your problem is to download again a previous edition of Viewer 2 and set your software updates NO to be installed automatically. 10. Hello. We can't help if we don't know exactly the error message you get. You can edit your post (Options --> Edit) adding more details.
  11. Hello Doc. According LL, openspace Regions are a type of Private Region intended for light use such as water, hills, or forest. They are not intended for building, home rentals, or events. For more details please check out the following link before you buy them. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Openspace-Regions/ta-p/846137
  12. Hello. I guess you can't verify your age because LL's age verification systems provider is unable to cross-checked against pre-existing databases of public record to verify that you are of legal age. The problem is that being still a basic member you can't verify your age manually, submitting a ticket and attaching an electronic (scanned) copy of a Government issued identification that has your name and date of birth clearly displayed. You said also that you have billing issues also. You can't upgrate to Premium member although you want it. Did you try to call them in their toll free numbers? Toll-Free (US/Canada) 800.294.1067 Long-Distance 703.286.6277 France: 0805.101.490 Germany: 0800.664.5510 Japan: 0066.33.132.830 Portugal: 800.814.450 Spain: 800.300.560 UK: 0800.048.4646 (Support 24/7 in English only) If none of those numbers are in your Country you can email to: support@payments.secondlife.com If you live in US other options could be: Phone: (415) 243-9000 (No Toll-Free) Fax: (415) 243-9045 Good luck
  13. Hello Avataftan. It is a known problem especially for users with Mac and the newer versions of Viewer 2. Look this jira: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-25627 At the following url is described a solution which seems that works for most of users: http://neilrobinson.wordpress.com/2008/05/19/a-fix-for-dns-errors/ You need to add the following additional DNS servers to your DNS settings in Network settings under System Preferences: 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 If the problem remains you can download an older version of Viewer 2. If we accept that the problem appeared for first time with the 2.6.3 version of viewer 2, you need an older version and you can find it here down at the page. (The older Second Life Viewer versions are still active on the production grid, but are not formally supported by Linden Lab Customer Support).
  14. Hello Kiki. Obviously your inventory can't be loaded. At first try to test your avatar and see if that helps. In Phoenix it is under Menu Advanced, Character, Character Tests and Test Male / Female. If it works you will see your avatar like a newbie but after you can change again outfit wearing your favorite one. If the problem remains clear your cache: Menu Edit (In Phoenix) --> Preferences --> Network & Folder. Click clear in both Disk Cache Location and Chat Log Files Location --> OK Alternatively (and better for me) you can log out and clear your cache manually: C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ AppData \ Roaming \ SecondLife and C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ ApplData \ Local \ PhoenixViewer Delete everything in those folders and restart first your computer and after the program. Usually the folder Appdata is a hidden folder. (Windows Tools \ Folder Options \ View & enable Show Hidden Files/Folders) Have in your mind that if you clear your cache manually you will lost all your private conversations which are saved in your computer. To avoid it copy the folder with your username in the folder Secondlife in another position in your hard disk. It is another one reason, it is suggested to clear your cache manually. If you have more that 1 viewers installed in your computer, you must to do it for all following the same paths in your hard disk. For example for Viewer 2 the "path" is: C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ ApplData \ Local \ Secondlife Same for all the viewers you have, even you use them occasionally. After that (i repeat restart your computer) and log in a protected land without lag like Smith, Lime or Pooley. There open your inventory, type something in search there and wait fetching ALL your your items till the last one. That means you get back, you download your inventory. During the downloading you avoid to do something else like teleporting, moving, chatting etc and also is good not to run other applications. When it finishes, try to change outfit choosing one with just the necessary stuff (skin, shape, hair, eyes, pants and shirt) without any attachments. Good luck.
  15. Hello Arlene. Here is the link: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Upcoming-Events-and-Activities/bd-p/UpcomingEventsandActivities It is under Places and Events Forum.
  16. Hello youarearadio. I want to make an intervention here. It is not something only for you but general. When we ask something and we get an answer which is indisputable and absolutely right, is good to accept this or these answers as a solution for us. That helps everyone. All us we are here and we try to help but most all the other users who read the questions or as members or as guests and probably have the same or similar question. Thank you.
  17. Hello AvaFaye. If you are not a premium member, it is not suggested to try to verify your age manually (submiting a ticket) insomuch according LL, you can use it "if you are a "premium or Concierge customer and you experience difficulty verifying your identity on the Second Life website". One the other side, we have another one occasion. If you joined SL being under 18 and you turned 18 recently, the system can't recognized you as an adult. In that occasion you must to submit a ticket. https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ Alternatively you can have access in most of adult regions if you become "Account Verified", having "Payment Info on File". For me you can try to call LL (you said that you live in US) at the following number: Phone: (415) 243-9000 It is no toll free number but you haven't problem when you live in US. Other options could be: Fax: (415) 243-9045 or a mail to support@secondlife.com although i can't guarantee that you will get a reply.
  18. Hello Lill. If the folder includes at least one item by the SL Library, you can't delete this so you can't delete the folder. Also you can't delete something when you wear or add it in your avatar. Check out if you need to detach or take of the item first.

  20. Penny Patton wrote: This is not entirely correct. Firsxt of all regardless of how it's labeled, "Age Verification" is not what you are doing through the SL website, that is "Identity Verification", which is a subset of "Age Verification". "Payment Info Used" is the other form of "Age Verification", this is why both types of verification allow you access to adult sims. Down to a parcel by parcel basis, a landowner may restrict either Identity or Payment info verifications, requiring you to have one, the other or both. This is regardless of the parcel/sim's rating. Due to LL's horribly confusing implementation of these features, some people mistake "Identity Verification" as an adult rating for their land. Some mistakenly believe it is the only "ager verification", some believe they are required to restrict to users using "ID verification", and others mistakenly believe that resitrcting to "ID verification" grants their parcel an adult rating even if it's in a "Moderate" rated sim. Noone said something opposite. On the other side LL nowhere (in Knowledge Base and Wiki) reports the term "Identity Verification" except of the following page: http://lindenlab.com/press/releases/08_29_07 in August 29, 2007. They report the term "Age verified" (Age verification - using driver's licence number, or Passport, or National ID card number or the last four digits of a Social Security number) and "Account Verified" (Payment info on file - CC or verified Paypal account with Xstreet or Second Life). So i consider that it is good to follow the official terminology of LL trying to avoid misunderstandings especially from new users and from users who haven't English as first language. In addition LL nowhere in knowledge base's or wiki's pages relative with age verification, reports the restriction "Restrict access to residents verified by payment information on file" although it exists, with the only exception a great chart by Rand Linden which posted for first time in June 2, 2011 (some days ago). chart Some quotes from Age Verification page in Knowledge Base: ...Becoming age-verified permits you to enter land in Second Life in which the landowner has restricted access to verified adults only. If you do not wish to search for or visit land that requires age verification, you can experience Second Life without becoming age verified..... If your account has payment information on file, you may visit land that has an Adult maturity rating and search for Adult content without becoming age verified. Age verification enables landowners to keep minors from entering their land..... ...Estate and parcel owners have the ability to limit access to age-verified Residents only. Residents who are not age-verified are blocked and receive a message about how to become age-verified....Flagging parcels for mature content provides notice to adults that they may find content contained in the area objectionable. Denying access to non-age-verified residents guards against minors who may have gained unauthorized access to Second Life... http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Age-verification/ta-p/700021

  22. Hello Kathya. Try to power down your modem / router for 2-3 mins, restart your computer, after power on and try to log in again in a protected land without lag like Smith, Lime or Pooley. Open your inventory write something in search there and wait fetching ALL your items till the last one. If your inventory isn't fully loaded you do nothing else. Avoid teleporting, chats, moving and also to run other applications except of SL even is a browser. See if that helps. If the problem remains maybe it is necessary to clear your cache manually: (XP) - C: \ Documents and Settings \ (USER NAME) - Application Data \ SecondLife and C: \ Documents and Settings \ (USER NAME)\ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Second Life (Vista) and (Win 7) - C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ AppData \ Roaming \ SecondLife and C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ ApplData \ Local \ Secondlife Log out and delete everything in those folders and restart first your computer and after the program. Usually the folder Appdata is a hidden folder. (Windows Tools \ Folder Options \ View & enable Show Hidden Files/Folders) Have in your mind that if you clear your cache manually you will lost all your private conversations which are saved in your computer. If you have more that 1 viewers installed in your computer, you must to do it for all following the same paths in your hard disk. For example C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ ApplData \ Local \ PhoenixViewer After that log in a protected land and follow the same process as i described.
  23. Hello Rafe. In Community Guidelines is reported that: Personal Information: Sharing someone else’s personal information—of any kind—is not allowed. Disclosing another Resident’s real-world identity, contact information, or the text of interpersonal communications (chat, email, IM) is not allowed. Also: Interpersonal Disputes or Personal Negative Commentary: If you have a personal disagreement, do not post about it on the Second Life community pages. Residents who have personal differences have other channels of communication available to them — private messaging in the forums, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. I don't see somewhere that it is forbidden to share public conversations although you can avoid it. If you want to ask for an advice you can do it without sharing chat logs, editing your post (Options --> Edit) Be sure also that you have read all about privacy rights at the following page: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Residents%27_privacy_rights
