  1. Coby - I was going to start my reply by pointing out how silly it was to suggest the LL wants us to see important announcements in the blogs. I thought it was obvious that, like the residents, the LL posts important items here in the General Discussion. Things can change though so I checked my sign posts first. I was shocked. I cannot emphasize enough how shocked. The sticky post at the top of this forum announcing the end of the Local Payments Beta in January of 2012 is gone. GONE! I'll add this tiny thought: Perhaps, among other reasons, we're all plopped into blogs to provide the common shared experience the LL always aims for.

There was an August 2010 Jack Linden blog "Display Names: Bringing Greater Self-Expression to Second Life" that allowed resident responses. So maybe they didn't ask for it but they asked it... if you follow me. https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Features/Display-Names-Bringing-Greater-Self-Expression-to-Second-Life/ba-p/660251/page/21 I also found a Jack Linden blog from 2010 which talks about the feedback they received. It also mentions the requested restriction the LL decided not to provide. I'll provide a quote and a link below. "Some of you have suggested disallowing the Display Name from matching any previous Username, but as we have used many millions of names for accounts already that would make Display Names very hard to use as most names would be blocked" https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Changes-to-Display-Names-Based-on-Your-Feedback/ba-p/664881/page/6 Thanks for the reminder. Once upon a time they used to allow us to reply to blog announcements........... Was a lot more fun back then and a lot harder for them to ignore us while they ignored us. Yes, although these things seem to go in cycles. Like the JIRA system. A 'new' JIRA system was implemented back in the fall of 2010. Two years later we moved to the 'your JIRA is our secret' approach. No one could comment other than the reporter. After the a JIRA had been triaged the dialog ended. A mere 17 months later JIRA is not secret. People get to comment again. But the blogs announcing the JIRA changes later than Sept 2010 - no replies allowed. Maybe that's on a longer cycle. I do miss the fun. OMG Qwal - didn't you see the bold type at the bottom of that last blog? Here, I'll quote it for you: "We think these changes will make for a better, more transparent and more productive experience for all of us, but if you have additional ideas on ways to improve our implementation, you can share them with us in this Forum thread." See? It's come full circle..... ... dat means.... well, the times they are a changin' Nuff said.

  9. XbabylonX wrote: You are right, I just tried and it worked, seems a lot of lag prevents things work at the place I am. Btw, is it possible to click that link and open it in local browser? The control bar can be used to open the current URL in a browser - local or external depending on your preferences. I haven't found a way to open a link in a browser interacting with Media On A Prim.
  10. XbabylonX wrote: Hi, I made a mistake in my last post. "Clicking on them seems to take you where they should." should be "Clicking on them seems NOT to take you where they should." For example, having the following code: default{ state_entry() {string html = "data&colon;text/html,<a href='http://www.google.com'>TEST</a>"; llSetPrimMediaParams(0, [PRIM_MEDIA_AUTO_PLAY,TRUE, PRIM_MEDIA_CURRENT_URL,html, PRIM_MEDIA_HOME_URL,html, PRIM_MEDIA_HEIGHT_PIXELS,512, PRIM_MEDIA_WIDTH_PIXELS,512]); }} A white background with a linking TEST word are displayed. Clicking though on it, does nothing. Same happens when you load a website through prim's properties. The links in this website which point to different domains do not work. Thank you for your response. I tried to have your problem and couldn't make it happen. Other than while editing the prim - which was mentioned before. There are options which can be set to prevent navigation & interaction. However that seems to allow navigation and interaction followed by setting the content back to what it had been. I was confused for a bit because your code example was changed by some internet magic to show 'data&colon' where 'data' is immediately followd by ':'
  11. Two sets of numbers to work on - your land fees and the Group Land holding. In the groups profile land tab it should look like: Total land in use: 3072 Land available: 307 Total Contribution: 3379 Although it seems from the posts that the contributions are higher than needed - leading to higher fees. Your donation/contribution should be 2560 (3072-512 donated by other) So your fees should be what I show in my estimate below. Rember you don't own the land if it's deeded to the group. The impact of owning the entire 3072 yourself before deeding is beyond me.
  12. I'm thinking two scripts. One in an object-giver that contains the temp-attachment. The other in the temp-attachment. On touch the object-giver will rez the temp-attachment Object-giver sends message to new temp-attachment with UUID of toucher. New temp-attachment requests permission to attach from the toucher. If permission received temp-attachment attaches temporary - otherwise kills itself after a set time expires.
  13. AlexandreLois1 wrote: I have an object that disappears when I put a certain script. Other objects do not disappear when I put in these objects this script. What is the difference between objects ? Single Prim Objects with only face 0 vanish. Objects with multiple prims or single prims with faces other than 0 will not. Face 0 of the prim containing the script will vanish. It's possible to have a single prim mesh object which has only face 0 and has multiple faces. Which explains it all. Interesting puzzle you sculpted for us. I assume you aren't trying to fix anything. If you were you should pay attention to the people who tried to help you fix what looks like an obvious error.
  14. I'll just add that all of my projectors had ambiance set to 1.

I currently have a radio streaming on the land, but of course I can't control what music it plays and if it plays the wrong music then it could completely ruin a show. I need advice on this as I'm not quite sure what to do. Should I just hire a DJ until I can figure out how to stream custom playlists using Shoutcast and whatever other DJ software there is? Or is there a much easier way to do that? You might do very well hiring a DJ. I'm assuming you need someone to adjust the music changes to events in the show. There is a WIKI topic that should help you. However it's not very current regarding the software available. For example it mentions SimpleCast which appears to be gone now. There's software not mentioned called Broadcast Using This Tool (butt). It's multi-platform and can be used for free. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Streaming_Music
  16. Qie Niangao wrote: Lahnius Zaks wrote: A few updates back this was not a problem, but it seems to be now. Hmm. If this is what I think it is, it must have been quite a few updates ago because I think it's a function of the more conservative interest list that speeds up rezzing everything else by more aggressively "forgetting" stuff that's no longer in view. In fact, this effect is even more relevant to projected lights under the Advanced Lighting Model than to those old-school, spew-light-in-all-directions point-source lights that permit only a few (six?) emitters. Those old lights are pretty bizarre, with the "six nearest lights in a scene" determined by proximity to the avatar, not the camera. Projected lights are weird, too, and depend on the light emitter being visible. In fact, you can completely defeat a projected light by covering it in a hollow sphere that's opaque on the outside, even when that inner hollow surface is transparent. If the source is completely hidden, its light is hidden too. I don't claim to fully understand projected lights. Maybe this is something that varies by viewer & gpu driver. In any case - I tried hiding some projected lights. I have five lights projecting. The three closest lights I enclosed in hollow spheres. The spheres are textured blank on the outside, transparent on the inside. There are two more lights (not shown in the photo) ten meters to the right. I put up two flattened cubes, blank and white. One between me and the lights. The other behind me. Nothing hidden for me. Photo below.
  17. You don't mention how you are storing your adjusted poseball positions. If you store your positions in a notecard then copied objects will have a copy of the notecard. No positions should be lost. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/MLPV2_Tutorial
  18. Welcome to scripting Dominic. Learning by self teaching is good times.
  19. The OP made a small mistake that could be fixed by moving or copying a single line of code to the money event. Perhaps the OP is new to scripting. So my suggestion to you is don't start out by telling the OP that they have done something horrible. Much easier to accept the answer if it comes likes this: Oh, you made a little mistake - just copy this one line to the money event and you're good to go BTW, if you indent your scripts consistently it will help you and anyone else looking at it It is good to develop good habits. Both in scripting and in answering requests for help. BTW source code is read by the machine. But you probably already knew that.
  20. Well... the LL calls their viewer "Second Life Viewer" so I think the name is as they wish. Sometimes based on an unpublished policy postings in the Second Life Viewer forum are moved to General Discussion. Sometimes similar items move from General Discussion to the Second Life Viewer forum - ignoring the unpublished policy. This I find humorous. I agree that a forum about any and all viewers... dat would be less confusing.
  21. Perhaps they returned all items owned by you. The orb, after deeding, belongs to the group. So it might be overlooked during the cleanup. Suggest you contact the owner and request they return the orb. I understand how you feel. However, when you deed an object to a group you basicly don't own it anymore.
  22. MuriloFrade04 wrote: Hello, I would like to know how i can get the uuid of an avatar from a prim attached him? Thanks. Hmmmm.... Ohjiro is certainly correct in his reply. However your question is not entirely clear about how you and the attached prim are related. So I offer these tiny additional comments: If you can obtain the UUID of the attached prim you can capture all the of the information offered by llGetObjectDetails If an attachment produces chat your script can listen to you can capture it's UUID. lllGetObjectDetails can supply the owners UUID, current group UUID and more.
  23. /me LOLs @ TPV question being moved to Second Life Viewer
  24. OMG Dillon.... I forgot to go to Hyber Nation. No wonder I'm so cranky. Happy New Year to you too. I rarely stray from the LSL Scripting forum now. Pecans.....mmmmm
  25. Syo Emerald wrote: You haven't read the previous answers, did you? - In California Lotto is run by the government - Lotto is a kind of gambling, which is restricted by quite a bunch of laws - The ToS of SL is not gambeling-friendly Well, sure. You could have said "You haven't read the TOS have you?" Not reading the TOS? We see a lotto that here. Clearly the TOS forbids gambling. While at the same time the LL will take your money for which you hope to get something while they reserve the right to give you nothing So you pays your money and you takes your chances. Gambling forbidden. You still get to gamble. It's not win-win but it's something.
