    Linden Homes

Make sure you haven't muted it by accident. ("Houston, we are 'go' for palm-face docking procedure, over.")
  2. In that case you might have reached the terraforming limit. On most mainland regions that limit is +/-4 m from the point the region was "baked" at when it was originally formed. If you can raise the land but not go deeper, then that is what is happening. If somehow terraforming is actually turned OFF in the Region Tools for that region you should contact the Lindens in support and see if they can turn it back on for you.
  3. All mainland that can be bought and sold has terraforming rights up to +/-4m... unless you are in a Linden Homes region. Those don't allow terraforming (among other things... like the ability to be bought and sold).
  4. If they stole them and the rightful creator filed the DMCA then they are a criminal. If they didn't steal anything and the person filed a semi-bogus claim out of spite then they are the victim. If they bough the bvh files from someone else who stole them then maybe they are somewhere in between. That's what I'm trying to explain. All it means is that someone filed a DMCA that resulted in a takedown of the disputed content. No more. No less. It doesn't prove or disprove any guilt or innocence and the facts can be any number of scenarios and we can't draw any specific conclusions from any it. It's like if you see your neighbor leaving with the police and asking if that means they killed their Great Aunt Sally. I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not.
  5. It means that someone is claiming the animation violates their intellectual property and LL found enough merit to the claim to warrant removal. If the merchant you bought it from wishes to fight the claim then LL will reinstate the objects and the two can fight it out the old fashioned way... with layers at 50 paces. LL won't tell the rest of us the actual details of what supposedly happened.
  6. The only fraud cases they act on are ones where they have direct evidence that someone acted with clear and unquestionable intent to defraud another person. What you are describing seems more like a contract agreement between parties where one or the other decides they don't like the arrangement or whatever. Linden Lab won't help you with that. Linden Lab is not going to play "judge" or arbitrator. They call that a "resident to resident dispute" and basically tell you to sue them in a real world court and they will be glad to cooperate with any requests they receive from the court regarding your case. They will NOT get involved themselves.
  7. That's why it states in the TOS that you have to make an account with true and accurate info. It's not because they want to snoop into your personal life or sell your data. They just need something to go by when people do stupid things like share passwords or computers. They need something to establish that you are the person who actually made the account. Can you really expect them to just take it on your say so that it's your account when you didn't even trust them enough to give them a real name and birthdate when you made it? I know it's common practice to use fake info. They know that too. So use fake info if you like, just be ready to remember your fake info if the situation arises. If you can't, then you are just screwing yourself. As far as age verification goes nothing you enter on that page is recorded. Aristotle doesn't keep it and Linden Lab never sees it. They just get a "yes" or "no" when you verify and the info you entered to verify is not saved.
  8. Linden Lab doesn't return anything when they take down an island for non-payment. Besides the fact that mass returns like that often end up with things being permanently lost the point is they want to give the owner incentive to pay what is owed to get the island back online. If what they will get is a mess of an empty island there is no incentive to do that. If you have stuff there though you can contact support and they can bring the island back online long enough for you to take your things back into your inventory (usually 24 hours). That's what you should do at this point.
  9. You can abuse report them if you like but don't expect anything to come from it. Unless there is some absolute proof they purposefully took your money with no intention of ever keeping their end of the bargain LL won't do anything. Even if by some miracle there is the most they will ever do is go after the person's account.... but if the L$ have already left the system you are out of luck. The number one rule in renting land on a private estate is always to do some research and get to know your landlord. There are decent ones out there. You just have to find them.
  10. It will never show up in your CC account. You can only process a USD credit to a Paypal account *AFTER* you sell the L$ and turn it into a USD balance in your account. Where did you "cash" your L$? Did you use the LindeX? If so, you should see the US$ on your account. If its not there, contact Linden Lab billing support and ask them.
  11. I'm guessing it's mostly used now to get you to install a backdoor, dataminer, trojan, or other malware on your system by the hacker devs who were kicked out of SL for similar such shenanigans.
  12. If you've ever bought a USD credit from your payment info the system will not allow you to "cash out" that USD until you spend it either on membership fees or buying L$ or whatnot. Meaning, if you bought $25 and put it on your account via your credit card and your USD balance never went below $10 the system will not let you process that last $10 to your paypal account. Really, the only people who can tell you for sure are LL billing dept. Good luck with that.
  13. When you sell land with objects it transfers transferable objects owned by the same entity. In this case if you are selling land that has been deeded to a group then the objects you want to transfer also need to be deeded (not just set) to the same group.
  14. In this person's defense the default setting for groups is to have all members paying liabilities and receiving dividends. If you ask me this is fairly stupid since most people don't bother to read or understand how groups work beforehand. So you get people like Thornwolf who get charged and don't notice until weeks or months later or assume it's some sinister plot. Usually its just that the person who made the group doesn't know any better any more than the members who are getting charged do. Granted it's still no excuse really... but I've seen it happen to a lot of otherwise intelligent people.
  15. What you have is a case where you bought L$ from someone who must have obtained them illegally or fraudulently. When that happens they will assess the stolen L$ from your account and you are pretty much left on your own to get your money back from the thief who sold them to you. It's like if you had bought any stolen property. The item is confiscated so it can be returned to the rightful owner.
  16. Paypay only works as a payment method if it is a verified paypal account tied to a bank account.
  17. Running a graphics intense program such as Second Life on a netbook is like crossing the open ocean in a dingy. It's technically possible, but I wouldn't recommend trying.
  18. Maybe we should start a list of everyone who publicly states, "When they stop supporting 1.23 and force me to use V2.x I'm leaving" so when it finally happens we can see if they really do.
  19. No, you were fortunate in the past that the operator knew what you were talking about and knew how to fix it. If they don't they panic and tell you to make a ticket. The fact is by the time your ticket is responded to weeks later you'll probably already be unstuck. Call again and tell them you have "stuck presence" preventing you from being able to log in. It is something they can usually fix reletively simply and quickly if they person actually has a clue. fwiw the reason it keeps happening to you is an attachment you are wearing is taking too long to be logged out when you do. The result is your logout is stuck in a loop that either LL needs to halt or the region you are stuck in needs to restart. Once you get back in you might want to go through your attachments until you find the one causing the problem.
  20. Radios are completely compatible with Linden Homes so long as you do not need to deed the radio to a group. Any object that controls parcel settings for media or audio need to owned by the same person or group that owns the land. Since Linden Homes parcels cannot be deeded to groups any radio on them needs to be owned by you to work. The only radios that will not work are any that REQUIRE they be deeded to a group for others in the group to operate them. Compatibility is not your problem. Your problem is you either do not have enough prims available to rez the object or it is trying to rez outside of your parcel, or something else is keeping it from rezzing at all.
  21. You are not supposed to create or sell items that use a RL trademark unless you own or have permission to use that trademark. If you use it without permission the actual owner can complain and even sue you in real world court. So... Is it against the TOS and Community Standards? Yes. Do people do it anyway? All. the. freakin'. time. Do the Linden's actively enforce the rules against it? Not really... only if the owner files a complaint (DMCA) Is there a big risk that Nike will sue you? Not likely. Is it a possibility? Oh yeah. Are you screwed if they do? Big time.
  22. The truth is the odds of making a living in Second Life are infinitesimal. At best you might get some small additional income, but you can count the number of people who can honestly say that working in SL is their primary job and pays for all their RL expenses on your fingers with some left over. Concentrate on getting a RL job, but by all means enjoy Second Life as a hobby and maybe turn it into something more later.
  23. Not all objects are scripted to allow the payee to enter an amount. If the script author did it wrong it will only list the amounts on the buttons with no place to enter an amount. I'd suggest contacting the person you are supposed to be paying directly.
  24. Oh... they have a very good idea who the average person's alts are. You'd have to do a lot more than just use a different email. LL has various methods of tracking and matching alt accounts to one another. They need to. Griefers can come back with new accounts easily enough they need to have multiple ways of connecting the new account to the old one. If even serious griefers are able to get their alt accounts banned despite all the bogus email, IP and MAC address spoofing and other tricks they use, the idea that you or I are going to fool them by simply switching to joe.s@blank.net instead of j.smith@blank.net is silly.
  25. Cinnamon is right, but for the wrong reason. Resident to resident dispute or not LL isn't going to give information about your account including any alt accounts you may have to anyone, even your REAL husband... let alone some guy with no legal standing whatsoever. All your account information (which includes information about alt accounts) is private and confidential and isn't shared with anyone. If the only 'proof' he's going to accept is from Linden Lab then he is out of luck and you're better off without him anyway.
