  2. NatalieSeymour wrote: The only way to have your name as creator is if the full perm kit came with the DAE file and you upload it yourself. Anyone who uploads the files is the creator. You will have to contact the full perm kit seller and ask for the DAE file. Good luck. You can ad a prim, actually most people do it this way. You must purchase the DAE files as well, then the added cost of uploading those can be costly on top of purchase price. Which in the selling market for full perm mesh is saturated at best, all those costs add to loss. Also with the new TOS, I would not be buying mesh kits with EUA because unknowingly you can be violating that agreement when and or if LL uses it for their own disgression. Also, uploading the DAE files actually would be against the TOS as this person is not the actual creator of the mesh and it would violate LL TOS as you have to own all rights to the file you upload. Just a thought.. Best course of action is learn blender and make your own.
  3. Morgane Batista wrote: Now that LL changed their TOS this year that gives them rights to everything we upload and can be used by them for advertisement and all. What does it mean for poses / animations creators? Does that mean that LL could pick any of our animations / poses from the server without purchasing it in-world and use it to make their own pictures or videos to promote Second Life, without our permission? I know we have kinda no choice but to accept their TOS to continue to use SL, but i would be mad if i learned that LL would use any of my creations without my permission, of course it would be an honor in a way to have a product chosen, but to not ask permission to use it?! I'd prefer having them ask me to offer them poses for ads, i'd even give them for free but i'd want to know about it. Yes, an honor that they ripped you off. LIke when a thief breaks into your house and steals all your jewelry, it was an honor that they choose your house.

Specifically, do designers feel if it is ok or not ok to ask a customer to change a negative review to a positive one? Do designers feel its ok to ask a customer to change a review if they address the issue the customer raised? Or are customers entitled to put whatever they want without any pressure being put on them by designers to change a review? My view is if a customer raises an issue or concern, the designer addresses that specifically and does their best to fix it. It is up to the customer if they then wish to change the review they put. This is how I operate as a builder. What are others thoughts? Most reviews are BS.
  5. reply from this: I purchase a LOT of textures, brushes, actions and effects from renderocity and I use them in creations I make in SL. I do NOT resell the textures, or other things in SL. I need to know is this is ok. Otherwise, I have no use for renderocity. Please let me know before I make anymore purchases or not , is this allowed? Hello Sabrina, I hope you can try to understand that it is not Renderosity’s license that has changed, but SecondLife’s. Our license has never allowed the transfer of the licensing rights you have purchased. Second Life’s TOS has changed so that you now have to agree that anything uploaded there can be transferred to them at their sole discretion to use however they want…..even to sell. So, the problem isn’t about whether the individual item you purchased can be extracted or not. If you make clothing and use a 2d texture, brush or whatever from Renderosity, SecondLife now has the right to use that and re-sell, give away, use for marketing or however they want. That is a transfer of license that we do not allow. Even worse, should they decide to sell or give away, they are then transferring that license to even more users, and the original artist has little to no recourse to protect their copyrights because of SecondLife’s TOS. If you make items 100% on your own, not using anyone’s textures, or meshes, etc, then you can upload at Second Life. Renderosity believes in protecting artists’ rights, and we are not the ones being heavy handed here, it is Second Life claiming rights on items that are not theirs. Brushes and Styles are a little different, since they are usually used in such a way (incorporated into a new work that can be seen as unique). Please keep in mind, the content uploaded previous to their Terms of Service change in August is supposed to be free from them trying to claim the rights on it. Therefore, your previous content should all be ok. It’s just a matter of going forward. Best Regards, Jenifer Carey Renderosity Copyright Agent www.renderosity.com Thanks, Jenifer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Even IF I did everything my own, LL can swoop my stuff up and pass it on to whoever they like? There has to be some kind of reason LL is doing this. Why are they being silent on it! I am out ALOT of money now over this. People saying.. I'm gunna leave SL over this is not going to amount to anything if people dont actually do it. But most of you make enough money that you won't leave. We will take it like little bytches and wait for the next ax to fall. ~~ Edit I have never resold textures brushes styles or anythign purchased form Renderocity. I do use the textures into clothing I design, much like going to Jo anns ansd buying a bolt of fabric, finding or trims... And the usage if it is completly within the terms of the content I buy. Some actually address making clothing with the textures and its ok. I can quote those here if you like.

  7. I do not want to buy templates that are ripped, can you message me the name of person so I dont buy it?
  8. The thing is about renderocity, and Ive put in a email and an actual call to Jennifer Kerry. (maybe she will call back) however, I buy textures from renderocity frequently. Also brushes, styles, actions and patterns for photoshop. I have invested a tidy sum into it. When I began buying I made SURE the sellers EUA allowed it. This is a standard agreement from some of the texture packages I purchased. " All items included in this pack may be used for personal or commercial work. They may not be included in a similar resource pack or placed in any online collection or archive. They may not be made into brushes, tubes, filters, nozzles or other software plugins for free or for resale." Included blurb from renderocity EUA "Purchase of the Product from Renderosity grants the Buyer a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the contents of the encapsulating zip file. The Buyer may use the Product commercially in the form of rendered images but may not distribute the Product or any of the Product’s files. The Artist (Author) retains all copyrights to the files. The Buyer shall not copy, modify, reverse compile, or reverse engineer the Product, or sell, sublicense, rent, or transfer the Product to any third party. " This is from --Copyright © 2012 mystikel Tags Brushes and Layer Styles by mystikel "For commercial and personal use. You may use this package to create new items for sale with the following restrictions: You may not redistribute this package as is or any of the files included in it (unless of course for texturing clothing or other items where the image/brush is on a UV Template) another from a texture package I bought... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Terms of Use: You MAY use these fabrics to make own texture sets for commercial and noncommercial. It is not allowed to sale the same product or use parts in a similar product. You may not give it away as a gift, or offer it for free. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You may use to make papers, backgrounds, clothing, etc for sale You MAY use them in your new artworks and make prints, or print on demand items If you have questions, please contact me." I do NOT package them for resale and I am explicityly using them in the manner in which the original seller allows. So how can renderocity "ban" its use? They cant. What they can do and I applaud them for doing it is ban using a MESH or SKIN intended for DAZ or Poser use in SL. WHICH ISNT SUPPOSED TO BE HAPPENING ANYWAY acording to those itesm EUA and SO many are ripping content, it makes me ill! I see resold texture packs all over SL. Otherwise they are voiding their users TOS in an outright ban of using content from their site even if the end user is usuing it acording to the original sellers EUA.. As fo cg, I personally do not use that site as it is a lot of renderocity stuff resold but someone else. I am completly within my EUA to use these items in SL. And if Renderocity is calling for an outright ban and is including these, then they are violating the original creaters agreements. This business with LL, I really dont understand all the legal, but I really was under the impression long ago LL could use our likeness or our builds in world where ever they want... this has been so for years. I think a lot more focus should be on the violaters of LL TOS that everyone owns the rights to content, such as rippers grabbing things from turbosquid and renderocity and likewise websites. It is a mess, But I am going to continue to uphold what the EUA states in any thing I have purchased from said sites. Just thoughts..

Gigantic hips... (I think this might be a trend among the "Cool cats' of Second Life, but I'm not so sure) Can anyone explain to me why a vast majority of Second Life avatars are completely disproportionate? I understand that it's a virtual world and people can look however they want to look... but I just don't understand how looking like an alien looks better than just being proportionate. "sigh" If people didnt do this whatever would you complain about?
  10. Dresden Ceriano wrote: You've missed the point. I would think that any type of counseling or group support would require the building of trust between the participating individuals. How is it possible to build such trust in an anonymous environment such as SL? In addition, how is it possible to claim that you're helping people when one of the first things you do is ask them to believe you when you tell them who you are, with no further, substantiatable proof? Right off the bat, what you may be teaching them about trusting strangers on the internet, could be detrimental to their well being. It's a Catch-22 for which I'm afraid there is no work around. If you still feel you must proceed, please do so with extreme caution. ...Dres Edited for clarity. How do I know this? Because they say it explicitly in the Privacy Policy and the Terms Of Service, both of which can be found in the black bar at the bottom of the page you are viewing right now. The relevant sections you may have overlooked, http://lindenlab.com/privacy Section 1. _Types of Information We Collect_ Information sent either one-to-one or within a limited group using our message, chat, post or similar functionality, where we are permitted by law to collect this information. Translation: "We log everything you type into Second Life. Even 1-to-1 private messages. We are watching all the time." http://lindenlab.com/tos 6.3.(viii) You understand and agree that we may report any and all such incidents -- and any and all of your corresponding personal information -- to any authorities we deem appropriate, whether or not it in and of itself violates the law of your (or any) jurisdiction. Translation: "In addition to banning your account, we will chase you down in real life and make sure you suffer there too. Remember all those private chat logs we stored from earlier? Yeah, we will use those against you." Is this a threat? Why yes. I do beleive it is a threat. I wholey respect and completley appreciate Linden's decision to remove someone permanently from their service. By all means, use whatever corporate decisions you deem necessary to ban a person grid-wide and lock out their entire account on the website. Such actions do not bother me an iota. That behavior wouldn't move a hair on my head. I'd forget about it 20 minutes later. However, to chase someone down in real life? No. I think that's different. I think that crosses a line. Your thoughts? I'm sorry what part of nothing is private on the internet don't you understand??
  12. Lindal Kidd wrote: I don't know if it's new, but Section 6.2 (vii) should give anyone pause. Apparently, if you cyber with someone you know is a minor, or in LL's opinion should have known, you are in Big Trouble. in response to an earlier comment: LL has not banned sexually explicit content, except as provided by the Maturity policy (e.g. not in General regions.) You're taking that sentence out of context. The wording of the new policy which removes the requirement for 30 days' notice prior to making a policy change should also raise eyebrows. Taken literally, it seems to say that they can change the TOS at any time and not tell you about it. You are responsible for checking it every so often to see if they've changed it. I doubt that they would do that in practice, but if they did, I also doubt that "you should have caught the change we made last month" would fly in court. :womanvery-happy: Why in the hell would it give me pause to know LL will come down hard on sex offenders?? More power to them! I can tell you how to not have to worry about this if you want. It's LL ball and game, if you dont want to play.. Dont agree. :catvery-happy:
  13. OK, so yesterday I was at a venue and suddenly it got seriously laggy and then my driver stoped responding, windows tossed me an error. my SL client shut down (at the time firestorm) so I rebooted used SL viewer after about 4 min in same sim same thign happend. Hard crash had to reboot my pc driver stoped responding, so I signed off SL and said F it. Today I am again at a venue and been there for some time no issues, then suddenly BANG video driver stoped responding, SHUT DOWN (again FS) rebooted reloged into SL view BANG ther it is again. I have not had this happen in YEARS ... is this an exploit because to my amazement ALL OF US THERE had it happen. Has SL opened up some way for us to be exploited with all the "new" crap they are handing us?

Do you share skill sets?

If it's an alpha that says it's detached, but somehow hasn't this may do the trick. Hope this helps! I agree. I ithink there is a bug that keeps items on even though it shows you do not wear it so it will not show in worn items. Do the character test, but save your skin and shape and outfit first. then apply each one at a time.
