  1. No. That is NOT what this thread is about. Says who? Says ME. Oooooooohhhh kaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy...what gives ME the authority to determine what the thread is about? Good question. I'm the Original Poster. What the thread IS about is a simple question, whether there are GTFO hubs in Belli. Also, what would it be like if I turned my extra two dozen prims available on my Houseboat parcel into a GTFO hub. THAT'S what it's all about. Well, other than the Hokey-Pokey. 😄
  2. Still not fully finished catching up on all the posts in this thread, but I think it proves the Forum Axiom: Ask a simple question, start a major argument. 😁 I think I will find a way to open a black market popcorn delivery business in Belli, for folks who wanna watch the show here. I'll make millions lol
  3. Bingo, at least in Belli, where they already DO have that in the covenant. As to the Mainland, there's a whole other discussion going on in another thread about specifically that issue. Check it out. Some really like having those signs up there, if it indicates an airport or rez zone (which a lot of GTFO hubs provide), others would like to see a Belli-style ban on sky signs even on the Mainland. Your observations would be well received on that thread.
  4. lol I have a friend already doing stuff like that, without GTFO. She dresses up in a hotdog costume and rides a bicycle with a hotdog cart attached. If she encounters people she offers them a free hotdog. Sometimes she pretends to feed any unattended animals she finds, including security dogs. 🙂
  5. No one is saying that. That would be opposed by most Belli citizens, as well as a clear violation of the covenant that Linden would crack down on. Others more familiar with the GTFO Hub system than myself have made it clear that every single sky signage on the Mainland is from parcel owner decisions, NOT a feature of the GTFO software. Folks who did try to put such sky signage on a Belli parcel would receive IM's from other Belli citizens explaining the covenant and requesting the sign's removal, followed by an AR if the parcel owner didn't comply.
  6. So cool, plus a Slenderman sighting, a tip on where to find Devil's Tower, and I'm digging the subtle J-Lo Superbowl style message of the sign.
  7. Hmmmmm...I suppose someone could rent out Linden Homes "under the table" -- have an arrangement to pay the landlord directly, not via the rental box. I'm not sure if that would count as commercial activity under the letter of the law as given in the covenant; It certainly violates the spirit. Setting up such a black market might (emphasis on might) be what's going on with that controversial thread about why someone has several dozen alts all with empty homes. MIGHT. I can't see how a landlord would make money off of that, though, unless they paid for an annual subscription (which works out to the equivalent of $8.34 USD per month) and charged more than $8.34 but less than $11.99, otherwise folks would just go premium, or get an alt of their own two have two different styles of homes. Alternately, one could play Game of Homes until snagging a sweet location, then charge beyond $11.99 for such a great parcel. In any event, while technically this might not violate the covenant, LH covenants aren't legal documents. You won't get to plead your case in court. Everything is at the discretion of Linden Labs, and it's doubtful they'd approve of such a thing if they found out. I guess I may have thought of this "just pay me direct" approach because I once had some land I wanted to sell, and a friend wanted to buy it, but was unemployed and couldn't afford the price or tier. I just had her pay me whatever she could, whenever she could, and deducted it from the price I felt the land was worth for a final sale when she could afford it. I wound up giving it to her at half price. 🙂
  8. THIS!!!!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This is the number one cool thing about Belli: The community spirit. It reminds me of the early days of Second Life, and is why I call the era of the new homes the Second Life Renaissance. There's even a guy who runs a group for the "homeless", folks who don't yet have a Linden Home (including non-premium players) and the folks who have homes open to everyone. Developing the new homes as a community, not just some new mesh pretty pretty version of the old homes, is one of the soundest business decisions Linden Lab has made about Second Life. Heck, I was so bored with the wasteland of abandoned land and ban lines on the Mainland that I almost cancelled my account. Then I heard about the new homes, and in particular the community spirit emerging. This is what SL was supposed to be about, and WAS about when it started.
  9. None of these are out of theme or violations of the covenant. Indeed, many signs like these already exist in Belli. None, of course, which harm you. I even used a roleplaying map-making program to make a "you are here" sort of sign for a friend's woodsy camper parcel: She, in turn, bought street sign making thingy on the MP (which, as long as we're taking issue with builds beyond our own parcel boundaries, I should point out stands for "Marketplace", not "Military Police": Then of course, we have this popular sign, all over Belli and the Mainland: These should all be fine, even in a Victorian area, because it's the HOUSES that are Victorian, not the roleplay -- there was a whole discussion already about that, with folks pointing out they shouldn't be expected to run around in period clothing when folks have BMW's parked in their Vic driveways. You're worrying too much. Sure, if something really out of place is creating an eyesore, we should AR it (or better yet, talk to the owner first). But that would need to be something like this:
  10. I've already seen helicopter pads on top of houseboat roofs, and they're all adjacent to Linden water. Personally, it's just a matter of free prims -- I've got 30 available for rezzing my ships or if visitors stop by. I don't know how many prims each vehicle needs for GTFO, but I'm sure there's info on the website. This is all hypothetical, since I'm not in the position to spend a lot on a hub. But I think it would be a cool idea to run small packages from my place to the USS Galaxy, since I'm about 1 or 2 km or so from it. I also understand at some point GTFO is going to have bikes (or already does) and walkers (a word I can't say without thinking about zombies lol), so maybe someone will pretend to be the Belliseria Postal Service and deliver letters. That would be fun, especially if it was actual notecards from one person to another.
  11. But somebody could, if they wanted to, make a land or sea GTFO hub, yes? Or are those too big? Are they prepackaged to a certain size, or is it just a lilcensing and scripting thing, where you could build something free-form?
  12. Plus, and this is just me and my places, every parcel I've ever had, including in Belli, has adhered to a personal philosophy that dates back to when I beta tested The Sims Online, prior to Second Life even existing: Be friendly and welcome visitors. So fly over my place any time! 🙂
  13. I have an attachable/piece of clothing UFO that I fly all over Belli in. I've yet to freak anyone out, as Belli is often just as much of a people-less waste land as the Mainland -- it just looks prettier.
  14. @Nika Talaj Work in Progress (Moonstruck) in SSPE1154 (south coast of LogLand). Yes, that is a rock arch above the road. Having played city-building games, blasting a hole through the hill that became the rock arch makes perfect sense, rather than building the road over it, as the angle would be too steep to hit the bridge properly. Cool.
  15. Can't stop this either, if they move into "your" region:
  16. Dude. You clearly don't understand what the term "commercial activity" means. No less than Abner Mole even clarified this, above. So. Go read your Covenant. Pay particular attention to the part about where your domain over your parcel resides. That's right: At your parcel boundary. Folks can walk, drive, ride a horse, or fly a UFO right next to your place. There's nothing wrong with that, because the public land ISN'T YOURS. We could hold an hourly parade down the street in front of your house. It's not a Covenant violation. There is very little clutter in Belli. That IS a violation, but is swiftly handled upon discovery by a simple IM to the owner and/or AR about the offending object. Upset about people daring to cross your precious pixel boundary? Use the Linden Home Security System, available at participating WalMarts. It's even compatible with The Clapper! There ARE music clubs in Belli. They don't charge money. Some of these clubs are so well known and established that it just wouldn't be Belli without them. Strip club? Behind closed doors, with entry limited to a private group you have to ask to join, and you're not violating the Mature rating of the land. Strip down to just bathing suits, and it can be open to the public *GASP!* even right next to YOUR home! Either way, without the exchange of money, it's noncommercial, and therefore totally legit. You even refuted yourself, dude. You yourself said "Not everyone is interested in this type of rp" -- You realize it's RP! You just called GTFO roleplaying! So you KNOW it's not ACTUAL commercial activity! It's just pretend. Other peoples' fun doesn't hurt you in the least bit, but that's not how things work in your world, do they? Tough. Your domain ends at your parcel boundary. Get over it. Or should I say, Get The Freight Over it.
  17. WTF. I just had a 1 prim twisted torus boost to 1390 prims when I added a texture to the bumpiness setting. I mean, you do that a dozen times, and you could jam a region-wide sandbox. 😵 *sigh* The price of pretty. Add this one to the list of mesh "features" smh
  18. I'm gonna have to play around with this in a sandbox or rez area. Wow. 1 to 300.
  19. Oh for crying out loud. No one can see your genitals on the World Map. 🤣 But yeah, they'll make a fuss...
  20. It's Christmas every day in Christmasland! Sorry. Excited for tonight's season finale.
  21. Not seeing what mesh has to do with it.
  22. Can't stand the de-beautification of the World Map. In particular, those giant hearts all over the place. It kills the simulation feel of a virtual world seen from above. I don't see how these sky signs are effective advertising, anymore than cluttering up the roads with rotating signs on 4 by 4 parcels. Such a waste of effort, better spent on Search and a strong MP presence. But what do I know, I'm not a merchant or land baron. Maybe the sight of a giant "FER SALE!!!" sign on the World Map makes people experience rapture and ecstasy, ready to fork their Lindybucks over by the shovel-full.
  23. OH! I play with those in the texture tab all the time, just to see what they do. But I've never had my creations suddenly increase in prim count, anymore than stretching them will. Note that I've yet to make a mesh object.
  24. I just started trying out GTFO, and was wondering if there are any hubs in Belli.
  25. What do you do when a Linden tree overhangs on your parcel? - OMG, abandon, try for another place. - Fill out a ticket. - AR Abnor Mole! The nerve! Noooooo...you build a treehouse! (yes it's under 15 meters off the ground, yes it's all on our parcel) LOVE how this makes the place unique.
