  1. Your friend should not have paid until the objects were transferred to her. As the owner of the landscaping objects, her former landscaper has every right to remove them.
  2. I don't know about this company in particular. I looked on their website. They seem to be a legitimate survey company (if any of those "fill out surveys for rewards" things can be called "legitimate". But they don't seem to be affiliated with SL at all. You might have received a phishing link...are you SURE you signed up with MyView? And I hope that if you did, you didn't use your SL name and password. I would contact MyView through their web site, and ask if they are offering $L as a signup bonus. I would also change your SL password immediately, just to be on the safe side.
  3. That would be one example, yes. More often, a "resident to resident dispute" involves money. Someone claims they paid for something, and the merchant won't refund their money. Or someone pretended to own land, and I paid them for it, but it turned out they were not the owner. Or two neighbors argue over a build...the owner thinks it is beautiful, and his neighbor thinks it's ugly, and besides it blocks her access to the open water. Or one puts up a laggy club, and all her neighbors in the sim complain about it. Anything where residents argue about something...a build, a payment, a lack of payment, someone's behavior...is a "resident to resident dispute". If involves a violation of the Terms of Service or Community Standards, then it becomes a matter where LL may step in and take action.
  4. If you know where it is, and the system won't let you teleport there, it could be a couple of problems. 1. The region is down. Mainland regions are generally restarted in a short time, so try again in a half hour. If the region is still down (check by opening the landmark. The details will fill in if the region is live, but not if it is offline), then file a support ticket. 2. You are not Age Verified. Until you age verify, you're limited to General regions, and the Linden Homes are in Moderate regions. To age verify, go to your dashboard page, and under Account, click the Age Verification link, then follow the instructions. Note: If you are not 18 or older, you won't be able to age verify or use a Linden Home. But don't despair. File a support ticket and request that they abandon your Linden Home for you (since you can't get there yourself to do it). Then find a 512 square meter parcel of land for sale on the Mainland in a General region. Buy it, and you will not have to pay monthly tier on it.
  5. I think they do give you a "cooling off" period during which you can reactivate your account without the $9.95 fee. File a support ticket. And...glad you're not leaving!
  6. In addition to Amethyst's great answer, if the mic DOES have a dancing animation in it, it may also have a way to turn off that feature. Read the help notecard that came with the mic, or see if there is a notecard in the mic's Contents tab, or contact the seller.
  7. Thank you for the fine point, Ceera. What I was trying to do was point out that you have to use PayPal to move money out, since credit cards don't work in that direction!
  8. 1. You must have a payment method on file. To get your $L out, it must be a verified PayPal account. 2. You must have purchased $L at least once. 3. Sell your $L. On your Dashboard page, click the "Manage" link next to the "Buy $L" button. 4. Selling your $L will increase your $USD balance. 5. Also under the Manage link is a choice, "Process Credit". Click that to transfer money from your $USD balance to PayPal. This may take 7-10 business days. If you can't do all that, some third party exchanges also allow you to sell $L and receive the proceeds as real currency. See their sites for detailed requirements. I've used VirWox successfully, but there are others.
  9. Does your account spam when YOU are logged on, or only when you are not logged on? If the latter, then someone still has access to your account. Follow the advice given here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Scams http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Account_Security http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Email_Scam_%28Phishing%29_FAQ On the other hand, if it happens when you are logged on, then someone is using a Display name that is the same as your user name, and masquerading as you (Abuse Report Them), or someone is using a "ventriloquist" gadget to make it appear that "you" are saying something, when it's really them. However, I haven't heard of this being possible except in local chat. If none of the above, go back to the first advice about what to do if you think your account has been compromised.
  10. You can abandon your Linden Home and apply for another one. You can do this up to five times a day. What you can't do is pick the one you want...you select the style, but LL chooses the spot.
  11. The Second Life Grid is the virtual world of Second Life. It's called the "Grid" because regions (map tiles) are square and laid out in a grid-like pattern.
  12. Right click the ground, select About Land. Look in the Objects tab Look at the value for "Parcel Land Capacity". That's it.
  13. 1. Have a payment method on file, either a credit card or a verified PayPal account (my own preference.) 2. Go to Account on your Dashboard page. 3. Next to the "Buy $L" link is another link that says "Manage". Click that. 4. Choose "Increase Credit" from the options shown. 5. You may add funds in $20.00 increments. NOTE: If all you want to do is buy $L, there's an easier way. Just click the "Buy $L" link on your Dashboard or in the viewer while in world. Choose the amount of $L you want. Your payment method will be billed for the purchase.
  14. Gift purchases are sent directly to the person you designated as the recipient, not to you.
  15. I think what you really mean is, you put in the right birthdate, and now would like to lie about it to get into Adult places. First of all, congratulations on NOT trying to lie about your age in the first place. You may be kicking yourself now, but trust me...it was the smart thing to do, both for yourself and for others. Let me explain... It was smart for you for two reasons. One, people who lie about their age in Second Life almost always get found out eventually...and then they are permanently banned from SL by Linden Lab. And two, if you are under 18 you are almost certainly NOT ready for some of the content, and the people using it, that you will find in the Adult parts of SL. I know you're impatient to grow up, and you think I'm nuts...but in a few years (or even in a few months, when you do turn 18), you'll understand. It was smart for others because adult residents, pursuing adult activities, expect to be doing so with other adults. It can be VERY upsetting to someone to find out that they have been doing Naughty Stuff with a minor, even if said minor has no intention of bringing charges. Or consider the following scenario: You lie about your age, and you meet a nice man in one of the Adult areas. You hit it off, and you both have some wild and XXX-rated times. During one of these, your Mom happens to poke her head in your room and sees what you are doing. When she recovers from her faint, she gets the avatar name of your partner, and calls the FBI. You're in Big Trouble. In addition to being grounded for life, your account is going to be canceled (either by your mom, or by LL). Your friend is in even Bigger Trouble, and it's not his fault, it's yours. Patience! Adulthood happens to us all, and it won't be all that long before you're looking back wistfully at your younger self.
  16. Send it all to me, along with your bank account details. I'll cash it out and deposit it in your account, honest! (Seriously, this is easily solved with a little patience. If the limits don't lift on their own, just contact LL and request they raise them.)
  17. Besides the very old video card, you don't have very much space on your hard drive. SL can take up to 1 GB just for its cache (although you can set it much lower). It's way past time to upgrade your computer.
  18. If Valerie's advice doesn't help, file a Support ticket.
  19. Have a friend available to give you feedback. Take off everything possible. Then try a different skin, bald head, and for good measure, eyes. When both you and your friend see the same thing, put on your clothes and attachments again. Do all this one item at a time, NOT by changing outfits.
  20. You're right, this is a gray area, and LL has not issued any policy on this practice. (By the way, I suspect you will be unsuccessful in your attempt to contact one and get an official policy statement out of them.) Here's my take on it. The "Adult Baby" fetish is not pedophilia. The people involved know that everyone is a consenting adult of legal age. The avatars involved are not depicting a "child-like" avatar, they are depicting an adult avatar wearing baby clothes and being treated as an infant by a domme. This is a form of D/s roleplay, not sexual age play. A baby is powerless, and is dependent on its mother to tell it what to do. This is what is being acted out by the "adult baby" submissive. And in fact, sex acts seldom if ever play a part in this sort of roleplay...because a baby is not capable of having sex. Meh...not my scene at all. But there are some D/s discussion groups in world. If you want to find someone more knowledgeable to discuss your concerns with, I suggest you look up one of these groups.
  21. Nalates, is that true? I just used a Basic NPIOF alt to create a Marketplace store and was successful...
  22. You don't need a credit card or PayPal account to create a Marketplace store and sell items. However, assuming your venture is profitable, you WILL need a verified PayPal account to take your profits out of Second Life.
  23. I have a question for you: Why do you care? Do you make and sell competing machines? Are the machines causing terrible lag in your sim? Is gambling against your religion or something? Do you just like to run other people's lives? If you reported the machines, and LL has not removed them, it's a safe bet (oops, pardon me) that they don't agree with you and have determined the machines are legitimate. Go on about your day.
