If you notice any change in your persuers behaviour, it might still be the most common method of being followed (scripts in attachments). Disable Voice and Media in your viewer. Don't click hyperlinks in-world. There's a high potential for exploits in both systems. @Perrie, I don't know about other posters to this forum, but I am deliberately vague when it comes to exploits and other security issues. I have no reason to give people who harass and terrorise further ammunition. As you know the final definer of such things is LL, I leave communication of such issues to them. Really replying to both you and Maddy together. I just stated my general observations on what has been posted in the Forums. I'm not saying it can't be done. To the OP I will say, if you have truly ruled out everything else, if this person is still able to track you while your avatar is buck naked, the only thing I can think of is to file a security JIRA (which are totally private) with the details of what and whom. I wouldn't expect an answer from LL but someone on the Security Team just might take a look at the account. That's at least what I would do if I had exhausted every thing else I knew. I don't know any better idea. One last note, what Viewer are you using? Are you absolutely certain you downloaded it from an Official Page? We've all been assuming you are using a Kosher viewer. Their are some unaproved Viewers that will open you up to this problem. I agree with you about the improbability, but not the impossibility, of the purported tracking via some unknown loophole. Aliens needn't tell us how they kidnap us to probe our innards because they don't do it. The military needn't tell us how they use ELF waves to molify the otherwise inquiring minds of hapless citizens because they don't do it. Similarly, I needn't disclose how it is that I coordinate my minions to police the forum and this shadowy follower needn't reveal how s/he tunnels through SL's servers to track the OP's every movement using mechanisms known to no other. Sometimes nefariousness is effortless. Credit where credit is due? Pfft! Can you blame me for being nefarious? Of course you can! ;-)
  2. Now that's what I like, a businesswoman who thinks on her feet, or on the detached feet of her zombie minions. Do sweep them up at the end of the day, negligence lawsuits are even messier than a floor full of zombie bits.
  3. Although I applaud your decision to enter the massage therapy market, I do wonder if you've addressed the risk of employing zombie assistants (as you are wont to do) in a business advertising "fast hands".

And there are a lot of very knowledgeable people who post here. In just about every case we were able to identify some form of 'social engineering' of the types others have posted. And no one ever will. The most threatening secrets of the nefarious are those they're not keeping.

  9. Good Tuesday morning Val, Hippie, and the rest of you Puppies! Let's get flyin', there's a new day ahead of us...
  10. Pandora Wrigglesworth wrote: I recently requested a Cash Out for a modest amount of income from my SL business. When I checked my bank account today, I discovered that Linden Lab had paid me my income 14 times. I suspect that the extra 13 times was an error. What is the standard procedure for dealing with overpayments from Linden Lab? (I'm guessing the correct answer is not "Go to Disneyland.") Pandora, how nice to see you out here in the forums. That 13x overpayment is known as a Baker's Bonus. If you spend it at Disneyland (who says that's not the correct answer?), you must do so only on donuts, crullers, bear claws, Danish, Bismarcks, kringle, etc. Don't go on the teacups, you don't want to lose your bonus.

ARRRGGGHHH!!! In the meantime I had saved some to my HD, then I had to dig for those since I don't have everything neatly filed away from the transfer of files from my former PC. In the meantime I present: Where's Waldo Czari: ETA: Meatloaf is on the far right (just in case you (generic you) have not seen Meatloaf since his younger years; his daughter, Pearl, is the blonde on the far left at the mic. What a brilliant thing to happen, Czari. There are 2 candidates for you. The obvious one on the far left away from the group - clearly a redhead - and the 3rd one from the left in the group, who may be redhead. I'll plump for the obvious one - far left, and looks like she's sitting. I'll also go with the third from the left in the group. That's Pearl on the far left. But while you are all looking for Czari...
  12. Hi Catsey, This could be a connection issue. Has anything about the way you connect to the Internet changed recently? Try restarting your modem/router. Are you running wireless? If so, try a wired connection. If you are in an area with many competing wi-fi networks (like an apartment building or dorm) that can be an issue. If none of this helps and you can provide us additional information, come back and edit your question via the Options drop-down on the right. Asking another question will split our responses across multiple threads and bump other questions off the front page. Good luck!
  13. Hi Rosalee, If you drag a texture directly from inventory to the face of an object, it will be applied to just that face. If you have the edit window open, tick the "Select Face" box in the top of the window and then click on the face you want to texture. You should see the target symbol on only the one face you selected. Then you can click over to the Texture tab and select the texture, color and other attributes you want on that face. Have fun!
  14. PeterCanessa Oh wrote: So why did you create an alt just to publish that? And wouldn't you just do the same thing to 'escape' prison? I created a weather bureau much like you suggest, by the way. It was a web server holding and updating consistent grid-wide weather maps. The aim was to provide more realistic weather for the yachtsmen (and aviators, as it happens) to whom such things are important but was open to anyone that wanted to know what the weather was at any given location in SL. SL 'system' wind is far too flukey to be realistic and the alternative systems are all either completely random or completely static. The target audience was mildly interested but land-owners didn't want it at all so we never got to 'Phase 2' which would have included detailed wind-shadowing, squalls and eddies*. [*Who is no longer in the space-time continuum] Peter, Speaking of the SL wind, I think they "broke" it. Years ago, I accidentally created a particle emitter that displayed exactly the chaotic nature of the SL wind you've mentioned. I was aware there was a wind, I'd used it to blow my lightning bugs around. But, I'd never realized that the winds at various locations on a sim were different. I'd presumed the same vector applied across the entire sim. My emitter showed me otherwise, and it was a beautiful thing to watch. I've invited friends to see my demo over the years and it always made them smile. Most recently, I showed it to Rolig and Amethyst and it now reveals that the wind vector is constant across the sim. Much of the beauty of my little demonstrations has been lost. :-(
  15. Yep, you and I won't be reproducing each other's experiences, Rolig. I've no idea why Firestorm would restrict antialiasing, although long ago my old Macs would crash if you enabled 16x, every time.
  16. I agree with Janelle. You've neglected only the Apocalypse, but I think we can count on LL to take us all the way to eleven.
  17. Second Life started out as a sandbox for tinkerers that afforded and even encouraged collaboration. Mesh steers it towards a "no user serviceable parts inside" world that may hold less attraction to those original tinkerers. Building increasingly becomes a solo out-world experience, and one being practiced by some people working well beyond their comfort (proficiency?) zone. The result of their efforts is difficult to gauge until you've spent the money. Curiously, at exactly the same time that SL is heading in this direction, the RL "Maker" world is heading to where SL started. If I must now fire up my RL 3D design tools to create the latest and greatest for SL, I'm exposed to the temptation to push the output to a 3D printer, which I can purchase for four month's sim rent (and unlike SL, prices are falling). I find it ironic that, for me at least, RL is becoming a more interesting place to create than SL.
  18. Salute, Colonel! Are you using Internet Explorer? That's been known to misbehave on SL's website. You might try a different browser. If that doesn't work for you, come back here and edit your question (using "Option" over on the right) to give us more information. Good luck!
  19. I imagine the 6700M is slower than the 6700, because it's a "mobile" variant of the chip. There is a file called "gpu_table.txt" which contains presets for various graphics cards. I don't know where you'd find that on a PC, but it's in the application bundle Resources folder on a Mac. There's a column for "class", which sets the default low/mid/high graphics setting on launch (you can override that later when you go to Preferences) and a column for OpenGL version support. I can't think of a reason you'd be prevented from going to 16x anti-aliasing by either of those columns, but you might try increasing the class number of your card by one and see what happens. Don't fiddle with that file unless you like risking the wrath of your computer ;-) And if you do like taking risks, here's a link to another graphics answer offered up by Nyll Bergbahn a couple years ago (and so caveat emptor!). It contains a command line trick to prevent the viewer from interrogating your graphics card to determine default settings and highest OpenGL version compatibility. You might try that. Go to the following page and search for "noprobe". I don't know if that'll reveal "x16" or make things worse! http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/Please-update-your-graphics-card/qaq-p/1047909 ETA: Ack, I had a brain cramp and forgot you're on a Mac Ravenman. That last -noprobe idea won't work there, or at least I don't know how to change that startup setting.
  20. Hi Lunar, The fastest way to document the placement of things is as Val described. The most accurate way is to manually copy down the X/Y/Z coordinate locations and rotations from the Edit window for each furniture piece. It's tedious and a bit risky if you have a typo when restoring old coordinates. That can send your sofa flying off across the sim, or out into space. Not that I've ever done that. Nope, I've never done that. ;-)

Most of us do it. We can't all be three sigmas below the mean! And the error that Riftraven made has been acknowledged and corrected. So he's no longer an idiot, he's an ex-idiot. But, like all of us, he's still a potential idiot. Let's hear it for untapped human potential! ;-) Thank you... I think. :smileyvery-happy: You're welcome... I know! ;-)
  22. Treasure Ballinger wrote: Hello; I'm not a content creator, I just have a question about your post here. All these blogs, and groups and forums and people discussing, and petitons and things. Does LL care about any of it? Or even respond or pay attention to anything anyone says? To effect change, both sides of a coin have to be on board for it, so I was just wondering, what kind of change can be effected, if no one at LL is on board for what the customers think? Does anyone have their ear, any back and forth, any communication or response at all to the huge outcry? Good morning, Treasure! LL has responded (I don't have the link handy) with approximately, "We love you creators." The change in ToS seems to me akin to what Facebook and every other cloud service provider is doing to avoid rights management issues, put the burden on the uploader. The law is generally behind technology's curve. It's no different here. I just talked to Sup Maximus, co-founder of Builder's Brewery. He'd not heard a peep about all this, so I'm not sure we can call it a "huge outcry"... yet.
  23. Hi Nikilei, By "move tool" I'm presuming you mean the red/green/blue axis arrows that you drag to move things around, right? So we know the viewer is in edit mode. You asked this question last Thursday and were given the advice to shrink the viewer window by zooming out while editing a cube you'd attached as a HUD. That can sometimes pull in a window that's been shoved to the very edge of the screen. It sounds like that didn't work. So we may be looking at a corrupted settings file that has the edit window so far off in space that zooming out can't locate it. A clean install may take care of this, but that will also delete other settings and all your chat logs. Here are instructions for doing a clean install of Firestorm. They're actually applicable to other viewers, so long as you adjust for the different naming... http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_clean_reinstall Come back to your question here and edit it via "Options" on the right to update us with additional information. This will keep all answers in the same place (so we don't suggest the same thing over and over) and prevent other questions from being bumped off the front page. Good luck!
