  3. That must be what Carn says. It happened to me last week; i wanted to open the pref menu and instead of doing Ctl P, i did Ctrl Alt P and it enable the movelock. for 1 one whole evening ive been trying to fig out what was happening. Then the day after, by total chance, in the Me menu, i noticed this damned feature was enabled lol So try to do a CTRL ALT P again to disable it and see if it works.
  4. hum.. im not inworld right now and cant log for now to check, but are you sure your folder is not filled with links and not the items themselves ? its weird that suddendly only one folder change color. Are the items name writen with italics ? If yes, it surely means those are links and the original items are somewhere else in your inventory.
  5. lol Kylie, of course you land is a beautiful gem ! im so sad, i cant find time to make photos there for now (neither elsewhere btw :smileysad:....) i already missed to make pics of the summer and fall version, so i really really hope, i ll be able to make photographs of the winter one. i dont have time either to explore and photography other places for now... fortunatly i have still some snapshots in reserve for playing with in my photoshop but this wont last long.. ive started learning blender, and its a lot time consumming.. this added to all my usual daily tasks rl & sl makes that im totally overscheduled :smileyfrustrated: . i really need days with more than 24 hours lol... (in case Santa Claus read me :smileywink:)
  6. Oh yes, i knew [XIVMCI] and im so sad they close before i start doing artworks, so i cant go there and take snapshots that i could use in my pics ( well so about other places to visit, now im at home on my comp i can give you some. Not all same as world end of garden but my first advice would be you check the destination guide.https://secondlife.com/destinations?lang=en-US . I do check it a lot and found gems pretty often. so here are some slurl for : Alirium : http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/alirium/37/145/21 Scheherazade : http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Scheherazade/147/235/21 (another style, but really great for photographs) Greenburg http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/GreenBurg/186/126/112 (i recently discovered this one and its really great for pics too) The Trace http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Celestial%20Realm/98/176/22 (Absolutely gorgeous place.. i still havent had time to go for pics there, but its on my list lol) Annws Willows http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Annwn%20Willows/227/247/21 If you liked WEG you will like this one too Check also Roche, The far away, Serenite, Feast, Collins land, and Hazardous. I could go on like this for long lol... but already if you dont know these ones, you have some gorgeous place to explore for your photographs )
  7. have you been at Humanoid ? its on the same sim where was World's end garden, and look the same style. so if you liked WEG you will like this too. try also Alirium or Serenite and also all Calas Galhadon's sims. there are a lot of others, but i m not at my own computer for now so these are the first that come to my mind
  8. lol im quite jealous.... ive never had a single day in SL that was quiet lol....
  9. Freya Mokusei wrote: Sure, pictures are good. Trinity's probably correct that it's a conference, it can be hard to find the host. Check the list of names in the conference for any that you recognise, and either remove them as a friend or get them to remove your contact card. Trinity says that blocking the host doesn't help, but I haven't tried this. well that puzzled me to see that even after muting her, it was still going on. and i think she also muted me bec she stopped answering my requests about deleting my calling card and i got no answer from her the day ive been yelling in the conference chat. i had to beg other participants to ask her to delete my calling card one time for all.. Some were not happy to see me yelling like this, but some others understood and asked her.. This was happening several time a day and was damn annoying. After this day, it stopped.. so i guess she finally deleted my calling card. knowing how works conference, a lot of ppl are too much lazy to select who they add to their conference. they select their whole ammount of calling cards and add them at once. So well.. one time you have accepted a friendship request, you have given your calling card and you are trapped. Calling cards should be deleted as soon as you dissolve a friendship, or at least should be disabling the conference thing.
  10. oh yes, i see ! its a conference and since you accepted the friendship request this person has your calling card and then can invite you again and again to their conference. request this person they delete your calling card. Now they can not delete you, what is a bit a shame. We should be able to choose who have our calling card or not. Try muting, blocking.. but well... it didnt work for me.... the person even muted me and i was still recieving these conferences. So well, insist really hard for this person delete your calling card.
  11. well i dont think a bot can open a group chat or a conference. but maybe you are added (without your consent) to conference by ppl. that can be done by sm1 you have been friend with (and then has your calling card). Try to fig out who start the conference, and ask this person to delete your calling card from their inventory. A lot of person think that opening conference for spamming is ok. Ive been bothered really often by this and even defriending, muting the person who start the conference (after of course, having asked politely to this person to delete my calling card) nothing cured.. till i yelled in the conference chat lol. The other persons you see in the lists are probably almost all other victims like you. You need to find who start these conferences and ask they stop to invite you. (now with the new CHUI in LL viewer, idk if ppl need the calling card or no for adding ppl to conference. But in firestorm it does.)

  13. Dartagan Shepherd wrote: Pretty much the irony of it. You can't end a license of copies that to LL are indistinguishable from the original when it's perpetual and you can't grant a license with a contract that provides no boundaries. And that was the purpose of our mail Dart, you totally got it. A licence must have some limits. The mail is explaining the direction we would like to see going the licence asked by LL to us.
  14. And i agree Toy, this point is not the one i would focus on it either. But obviously some does.....
  15. The mail has been adressed to LL staff. We will wait for their answer. They are the right ones who can say if it's possible or impossible.
  16. Freya Mokusei wrote: Trinity Yazimoto wrote: when i talk about "original" versus "copy", im talking about the item from what copies are done : the origin of the copies. Okay, but how do you go about detecting 'original' vs. 'copy'? All the Linden staff have is the database records of the items. As I've stated it's not a simple case, you can't just use all prims that have been created from scratch - you also can't use all scripts as they were first saved. Unless LL can determine an 'original' from a 'copy' efficiently, 100% of the time, this is new operating procedure that forces LL to do impossible work - which your group has to justify. The UCCSL is welcome to 'want' whatever it chooses, but imaginary, unenforceable whimsy isn't going to lead to action on LL's part. Adding complex 'wants' without offering solutions at this stage takes energy away from the central [still unresolved] issue and risks dividing support for your cause. ETA: Skip the 'sold copies' things, I understand what you're saying about copies in other peoples' inventories once sold via traditional methods. What you're not explaining is how LL should handle this requirement of yours 'gridwide' - selling, Marketplace, etc is not the only way to transfer ownership. The ToS concerns the entireity of SL, not just the commercial/consumer elements. we are not asking the impossible but just we want to take back our total licence (whenever its the one from the TOS prior to the 15th of august what was already a large licence or the current licence asked to us by the current TOS) in case we want to leave SL. This is not about the copies but about the licence we have to give to LL on our creations. We want to give some limits to this licence and here, about the perpetuity of the licence. Its a limit on the licence.
  17. when i talk about "original" versus "copy", im talking about the item from what copies are done : the origin of the copies. We are ok for the perpetuity of the licence in the copies we have sold bec they have included the perms we wanted to give to them. But we would like the asset from the origin, as a full perm asset, disappear with us if we happen to delete our account. The copies will of course remain in the inventories of the ppl who bought it, in the exact same conditions than before. But noone, and precisely here, LL, will be licenced for using the asset outside the perms we choosed to give. Of course, in the case, we have sold copies that are full perms (like it happens when it s about materials for builders but not only), the copies will remain having the same perms. We certainly do not want to cause damages to our customers, but we also do not want LL can use our creations, if we happen to leave SL, for their advertising or whatever else purpose, like they state now in their TOS. Thus we would like to make a distinction on the licence we give on the asset from the origin and the licence we give on the copies we give away.
  18. Griffin Ceawlin wrote: Trinity Yazimoto wrote: 2. Perpetual The perpetuity of the license is somewhat acceptable for member creators as it applies to copies of works already sold and in other inventories until the account associated with that creator is terminated. If you license your content to me when I transfer L$s to you, I still retain license and use rights even if you delete every copy that you have and delete your account. You acknowledge that this termination will not apply to any other copies or instances of the same Content that you have not specifically deleted from the Service, including without limitation those that may be displayed elsewhere In-World and those that may be in the Account inventories of other users to whom you transferred copies. So what exactly was the purpose of including that? The UCCSL actually has attorneys advising them on these letters? The letter has been writen by Juris Amat our attorney, so its a bit legal wording. i reassure you none of us want the copy we sold to you or anyone else deleted even after we delete our account. Take the all section : "The perpetuity of the license is somewhat acceptable for member creators as it applies to copies of works already sold and in other inventories until the account associated with that creator is terminated. The perpetuity clause is not acceptable however as it relates to creators’ personal inventories and their original works. We would like a limitation that would reflect that distinction." We talk about a "distinction" between copy sold and our original. The copy sold can remain till the holder of the account delete also their account. Its licenced and not an original, so often has limited perms. our original, is different and its always full perm. We ask LL they delete and stop their licence on our original if we close our account. the first sentence says the perpetuity of the licence is acceptable as it applies to copy. Its not acceptable for our personal inventory and our original works. We just ask them they do the distinction between both kind of items.

This wont be against the tos. then you give to her as much copies she will need for your skybox then it will remain nothing in her inventory after she mods your skybox anyway. that s not against the tos since you are not giving away texture as full perm and you provide only the ammount of copy usefull to mod your skybox. then about if she will be feel hurt bec you ask a change, i dont think there is a lot of risk asking. After all you can have your own taste, still like her building but need new textures for matching more with your furniture style. i dont see any insult in this. just ask politely and im pretty sure it will be fine. Now if your skybox is mod, you can im me inworld and ill teach you how to mod it by yourself :smileyhappy: Edited : i wrote copy while it was transfer. so fixed Most Texture creators wouyld get pissed if you gave away any of thier textures no matter the perms. The best way to do this would be to do it herself, aside from that buying the textures as a gift is the second best way. Actually the only terms of conditions ive seen about texture full perms say that you are not allowed to give them away as full perms. i havent seen saying anything else. if you give the person a no copy trans version, the texture will disapear from this person inventory after it will be dragged in the object. so its not smth that can annoy the texture creators. i dont think its fair for Sephina to buy herself a full perm pack of texture to someone else who will be able to exploit this in their future creation. And if i was the skybox creator i sure refuse she does. Or i buy myself the texture pack, or i give her a mod version, or she send me a trans version of the texture.. but accepting she buy for me, while then ill be able to use it as i want in the future, wouldnt be honnest imho. At least for me....
  20. Qie Niangao wrote: Edited : i wrote copy while it was transfer. so fixed I think either way would work. What's changing is the next owner's permissions on the texture, and as long as it's not full perm, it usually satisfies the creator's EULA. One should check the specific agreement, though, as they vary -- especially for textures, for which permissions are over-extended such that permission restrictions virally contaminate the object to which a texture is applied. It was this foolish overreaching that made full-perm textures and EULAs so necessary in the first place. indeed but i still think the trans perm would be the best in this case bec the texture wont remain in the skybox's creator's inventory. normally once s/he will apply it, it should disappear from the inventory, if i dont mistake.. at least it works that way when you add a no copy pic in the profile.. i havent checked thought.. but i think it should work like this...
  21. Ive posted here : http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Merchants/NEW-MAIL-FROM-THE-UCCSL-TO-LINDEN-LAB-OFFICE-AND-PETER-GRAY/td-p/2327355 the copy of the letter that UCCSL group has sent to LL office 2 days ago
  22. Here is the new mail we sent to LL staff on the 12th of november 2013 UNITED CONTENT CREATORS OF SL TO: Peter Gray FROM: Kylie Sabra & The UCCSL Council DATE: November 11, 2013 After a meeting of the Council of the UCCSL Noon, Sunday, November 3, 2013, and subsequent vote by membership; below are the issues we find of concern in the current Second Life Terms of Service. We hope to work together to resolve these issues, and in the creation of a new terms of service agreement that grants Linden Lab the license it requires while honoring and protecting the rights of content creators. FROM SECTION 2.3 OF SL TOS Except as otherwise described in any Additional Terms (such as a contest’s official rules) which will govern the submission of your User Content, you hereby grant to Linden Lab, and you agree to grant to Linden Lab, the non-exclusive, unrestricted, unconditional, unlimited, worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual, and cost-free right and license to use, copy, record, distribute, reproduce, disclose, sell, re-sell, sub license (through multiple levels), modify, display, publicly perform, transmit, publish, broadcast, translate, make derivative works of, and otherwise exploit in any manner whatsoever, all or any portion of your User Content (and derivative works thereof), for any purpose whatsoever in all formats, on or through any media, software, formula, or medium now known or hereafter developed, and with any technology or devices now known or hereafter developed, and to advertise, market, and promote the same. You agree that the license includes the right to copy, analyze and use any of your Content … The problematic terms in the above language are: 1. Unlimited is far too broad We would prefer to see limitations on the license. We are unsure of exactly what is the intention behind the assertion of this right but the purpose that we glean from the context it is to transfer user content to third parties. Accordingly, we would appreciate reports of transfers of content so long as we are present (active account holders) in the Second Life virtual world. We would also appreciate some limitations on transfer of content. For example, those creators who have withdrawn from SL due to the change in ToS as well as those who have not logged in to accept the new Terms should be excluded. Another example of an acceptable limitation would not be a restriction at all but a reporting and attribution requirement. Specifically that all creator content sold or transferred by Linden Lab will be 1) attributed to its original creator and 2) a report of the transfer provided to its creator. 2. Perpetual The perpetuity of the license is somewhat acceptable for member creators as it applies to copies of works already sold and in other inventories until the account associated with that creator is terminated. The perpetuity clause is not acceptable however as it relates to creators’ personal inventories and their original works. We would like a limitation that would reflect that distinction. 3. Sublicense – We would prefer if the license granted to third parties is restricted to the original terms under which the content was originally uploaded i.e. that the third party does not inherit the “unlimited” rights acquired by Linden Lab under the new provision 2.3. 4. Purpose of use needs to be limited The language "for any purpose whatsoever in all formats" is far too broad and unacceptable. We would prefer that language be limited and would appreciate your input in this regard as we are not convinced that the language above adequately recognizes the rights of different categories of content creators, for example visual artists. Finally, I would like to arrange a meeting to discuss the options we present in this letter and to present a few other ideas we believe would result in a more co-operative relationship between Linden Lab and its creator community. Also, please provide an update on Linden Lab's efforts and intention, if any, to modify the current ToS. I look forward to receiving your feedback.
