Population is roughly equal to 2007-2010 numbers. I have looked at "users currently online" on my login ever since I started playing SL, and it hasn't changed. What has changed, is more and more private sims, spreading the population out many times over. So when people wish prices were lower, so more people could make still more sims, I'm torn. I too own (technically rent) a sim, and would love to not have to pay so much, but I also like seeing groups of people around. There's no winning for everyone, no matter what way it'd go. I know this thread is old, but it got bumped up, so responding, since it's a frequent subject.

Something like this would be a great alternative to changing number of groups allowed. If you open group and hit the last logins to arrange them oldest to most recent, most groups who have been around a while have a LOT of members who haven't logged on in 5+ years. Culling inactives, if the majority would do that, might be quite helpful, and not be pissing off so many people now. But then there's group owners who feel proud to have over 1000 members, or 5000 members.. even if half never log on anymore.. It means they're popular, right?

I hope so much that the contact needed is made, and I also hope that it is able to be preserved exactly how it is, the light, the music, everything that makes it magical. Chouchou is the only remaining place that is truly otherworldly to me, and personifies the imagination and beauty that can exist here. What I've always thought, when on the main sim ground level, is the way people just stand on the little sand banks for hours; it reminds me of the movie City of Angels, when all the angels would come down and stand on the beach, taking in the rising sun, quietly, peacefully. The cathedral... is not only beautiful, but from a builder's eye, absolutely remarkable. Built in the days before mesh, so many thousands of individual pieces, it's a work of not only art, but love. If this landmark vanishes, SL will never be the same for me.

I'm actually very happy right now.. The past week or two, I couldn't get the light on my sim how I wanted, and the haze was missing again no matter what. The thing is, you do need to edit it with the EEP viewer, and have an alt on at the same time on your normal viewer, to see what the editing is actually doing. Because it looks wayyyy different between viewers. It was looking bad like how the most recent pictures in this thread are, but with adjusting gamma and making atmospheric colors lighter or darker in the EEP viewer, I actually got it looking exactly how I wanted it (on firestorm). The lighting is gentle now, soft, not harsh like how it's been ever since LL applied EEP to sims. You just have to adjust things some. *edit!* I turned the personal setting to default mid day on my sim, and ewwwwww yuck! I see an issue there for sure! Default SL region settings are horrible compared to before. Water see-through and funky color, oh it's soooo bad.

Gosh, people are excited about this, huh? I've always had mainland parcels, and always public, always trying to make them seem welcoming to surrounding parcels by being on the ground and terraforming to not make it cubed off, smoothing it trying to make it all flow with neighbors... But then people like putting up privacy screens and ban lines, so I've always had the impression nobody in SL wants to live in a neighborhood community. I'm happy to see that's not the case, and it kinda makes me want one now....

I don't judge avatars, I judge profiles. Hate me. I'm not sure if that makes me worse, better, or equal to the avatar snobs.

A friend said it best: "It's like you had a vandal come in and destroy your painting" And I'm a no-one too! I always use regional when exploring, because to me, windlight is part of the build. I like seeing it as intended (when a builder bothers.. I know many don't. But the ones who do, it becomes an art form) Unless by regio-light you mean default SL... I mean sun position > estate time

I for one am not happy at all about EEP. At least not how those of us who spent hours getting windlight just right on sims can no longer get the same look. Not even remotely close. I can have no atmospheric mist whatsoever now after the last rolling restart. Only crystal clear. The sun position is opposite where I had it, and can't be adjusted. I fix the settings in edit, hit apply, and it completely reverts back to something I don't want. If this is working as intended, I fail to see how this is considered an improvement. If it's still getting the bugs worked out, why is it being forced on everyone in a broken state? I feel like giving up and no longer owning land. Pictures are 1) my windlight as I want it, and 2) what happens when I apply it to the sim. I am not using an EEP viewer, yet am subject to changes that aren't even ready yet or officially released.

Ok, the EEP thing is lovely, but I had finally got my sim's windlight how I wanted, after days of work and 20 versions, and now I can't use it? I can't edit anything and apply it, it just reverts to something else. The sun is exact opposite where I had it, and changes the entire look of the sim I worked so hard on. There really needs to be a way for us to use the old settings. I do not use an EEP viewer, as I'm sure a large chunk of people in SL are like me and use Firestorm, which doesn't have it. I want my old windlight back, can't we have the option to use new or old? I'm so frustrated right now.. I worked hard on that, to get it just right, for nothing.

Thank you for the replies And the group is just my personal group I've had for like 10+ years, nobody in it but me and alts, so it made sense to try out this option. I've always just been owning land on my single account, and it made sense to figgure out how the deeding works. I guess I'm an old dog trying to learn new tricks.... It's not pretty. Now just waiting for LL to set that abandoned land I'm drooling over! Hmm.. I hope I can buy for group if it's set to sell to me. Argh.. land headaches!

Yes, I wasn't specific enough.. The 2 other accounts would buy for group and it would be directly group owned for both of the 1024s, with their contributions entered in the group land panel.. The whole thing has me rather confused.. I have my main parcel as group owned already, and was going to make it larger using alts. So, if they never even actually buy the two parcels, just enter their contribution in the group panel, it doesn't matter which avatar actually buys for group? Like I could buy for group on my main, and it wouldn't affect my tier? Or do they need to physically do the buying(for group) I don't know why I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this. I think I understand that tier for the alts is only going to be determined by their stated contribution.

So my question is, if two premium alts buy two 1024 parcels adjoining a larger group owned parcel, and then all land is joined into one parcel, will the two accounts get bumped up on tier because it's no longer the free size?
