  1. My question is: If you find Linden Lab so bad as a company, if you think that everything in Second Life works so badly, if you are so angry with everything new that is being done during these years: Why are you not running away from Second Life to another platform? Why are you wasting your time in these forums criticizing non-stop? It is simply something that I have always wondered about and I don't understand? One thing is to make a constructive criticism and quite another is to criticize everything and for everything.
  2. I think, in my opinion that LL should bet more on its platform to communicate and interact more with its community: If you have a platform where you can create a virtual event, for your community to attend it. Why do you go to another external platform to do it? Why don't you allow that from your platform you can stream content to other platforms like YouTube for example? If we are in a virtual world, I would like to see live the participants of the event and listen to them. It is clear that Second Life servers could not support that load, could they? The limitations of their product, in my opinion, make them use external services. A podcast broadcasting through the viewer would also be a good solution, but I think we would limit again an experience that could be more enriching. Deaf people, for example, would not be able to listen to the program.
  4. Has anyone stopped to think about the people who do not "understand/speak" English and who use YouTube's automatic translation system (I know the translation is not perfect, but in some languages it is acceptable) to follow the program?
6. Daniel, we must also take into account that today there are very good alternatives for streaming content retransmission. the adaptation of a viewer to be managed and used by streaming (like google's stadia or Microsoft's Xbox). Today thanks to this technology you can play games that require high performance on pc or mobile with low resources as long as you have a good internet connection. Personally I think LL should go in that direction. Focus the efforts in that its content can be used moderately well on any computer, whether it is a high performance pc, a mobile or a web browser.
  7. There is already a company (see official TPV list to find it) that is working on mobile viewers for IOS/Android and WEB that are light years ahead of Linden Lab. It's not a foolish move to focus the company's efforts in another direction.
  8. Never forget that they also control : Instagram and whatapps and oculus.
  9. Yes, but it is a shark with a lot of money and resources. Not to mention that this shark is wounded and losing a lot of blood, which makes it very dangerous.
  10. I have had the chance to participate in the Horizón closed beta and the similarities when it comes to content creation are very similar to those of Second Life. Facebook itself has stated that they have looked a lot at current virtual worlds and their evolution to create some of the functionality of their virtual world. If you go into Horizon and build content, you will have the same feeling as when we created content using textures, prims and scripts. The creativity of the residents and the ability to make the world they reside in their own is a very powerful part of Horizon. I'll say it again, even if I get hammered over the head: Horizon reminds me a lot of when Second Life was taking its first steps as a baby of virtual worlds.
  11. I have never said that only one company has to create it. Facebook is the first to state that it will not create the Metaverse, it wants to be just another company in the Metaverse.
  12. What we have to accept is that the "Metaverse" is being born as the Internet was born. All companies in the future will have to adapt their products. I still remember how they criticized the Internet in the past and how they said it would never work. When the technology in virtual reality viewers becomes comfortable and cheap, the Metaverse will take off.
I think that many times Second Life is compared with a current video game, and in my opinion it is a mistake, they are two totally different products, at a technical level and at a content and experience structure level. I agree that we must work on the arrival of new users by offering them controlled content at all times until they have the necessary knowledge to "become independent" and try to work on an island of arrival with more information, social activity areas and gaming experience area. Second Life is not unique, it is the sum of many things. It is a very complicated task that requires a very deep study.
