  1. You know, people who you find at the mall? I think many Second Life human avatars look like mallrats who would hang out at the mall.
  2. Background: I recently took a class that challenged us to make a board game as a learning activity. (Making games wasn't the point of the class but rather as a means to teach project management methodology. Still I was inspired to create a board game idea of my own.) Basic Objective: Get your player piece to the finish point before anyone else! How many players: Ideally 2-6, but more could play if needed. This is constrained by the number of individual player pieces. What kind of board is used: The board used has 20-30 (or more) spaces that has at least a start and finish point (board geometry could be linear or a loop.) Start of the game: Simply decide who gets what player piece (they can represent different colors and objects.) Determine the turn order (probably by a dice roll.) Put all the player pieces on a starting point. What happens during each turn: There are two types of things you can receive at the beginning of each turn, and three types of actions. What you can receive each turn: 4 consumable tokens: These are mainly used to advance along the board. Consume one token per space you move. These can also be saved to use for future use (such as purchasing an effect on the shop spaces.) Action Card: Instead of tokens, the player can draw a random action card from a deck. The action cards have a variety of effects that can give you an advantage (or even disadvantage) over other players in the game. What you can do each turn: Advance your player piece along the board: Again, you consume one token per space you move (forward or back.) Use an action card: Use a card from your hand to perform a various action (will be detailed below.) Nothing: You also have to option to wait and save your cards or tokens. Events (spaces): Starting point: Where players start. Finish Point: Where players want to get to first in order to finish the game. Shop Spaces: These rare spaces allow you to trade consumable tokens for a variety of effects, such as: -switching positions with another player -switch turn order -stop a player from moving for one turn -steal token from another player (and even more effects!) Events (Action Cards): Once played and discarded during a turn, they also have a variety of effects. -gain a number of tokens -steal tokens -cause a player to stop -switch player position -switch turn order (and more!) In some cards, you can challenge your opponent through a mini-game such as rock, paper, scissors, coin flip, or dice roll to either have an advantage or disadvantage in the race! Overall, this a general idea of the game and I wanted to post it here so I can get comments and feedback on it.
  3. I'm not really into guys, but he does look handsome. I dunno.
  4. It's to make them self-aware for the inevitable Linden Lab takeover of the world.
  5. I guess I am bored, but I also was curious about how people wish to be identified. I guess I wanted to spark a discussion about this because I was inspired by the article that @Alyona Su posted about the word of the year.
  6. Most sims are inspired by things that exist in nature or the real world, such as animals, plants, cultural artifacts, and more. But have you ever encountered a sim that is based on more "abstract" ideas like simple geometrical shapes (e.g. squares, grids, spheres, stuff like that?)
  7. I don't live near Vegas, but I still go there at least once a year with my parents. And I'm talking about the tourists on the Strip. Thank you all for the input, though!
  8. I wanted to pose this question here to get more of a female perspective, because I know the majority of people posting here are women. To begin I'm not much of an online dating person - either in Second Life or elsewhere on the Internet. However, I'm a frequent tourist of Las Vegas and I'm amazed by the different types of people there, of both men and women. Whenever I'm in Vegas I'm there partially with the hope I might meet that special lady. I usually visit a bar where I can dance with people, some of them women. While I enjoy dancing there I have never ended up with a relationship. I know I haven't been trying hard enough but at the same time I'm also picky. Although I might boost my efforts a little next time I'm there. Overall I was just wondering what you think about finding relationships in Las Vegas.
  9. You open it to find a man and woman in simple blue uniforms, smiling in an odd way at you. You ask what they need. They say, "We have been observing you. We would like you to join us." They offer you a mysterious video disc, and then they say, "Please watch the video. You will not regret it. Tomorrow we will come back and find out if you wish to join us or not." What do you do?
  10. The phrase in question is: "f***you". If you're currently using it, you don't have to reply, of course. According to a website, the password has been used 500,000 times and should never be used to avoid your security being breached.
  11. I'm just bored I guess, sorry to disappoint. I just want to make up a hypothetical situation and see how people respond to it. Although this situation is inspired in part by a Disney animated short I watched a few years ago. I guess, if you want to look at it that way, another reason for me asking the question is that I am projecting something I'm sure all of us can relate to: being in an unpleasant situation and longing for something more...like romance, perhaps? I apologize if my response is a little vague yet again.
  12. Aww...that's really sweet of you to say that! Thank you! I appreciate it! I'm also happy for you, too!
  13. You go slowly to your cubicle and get ready to your daily paperwork. The boss, looking as stern as ever, is watching everyone's moves. You sigh and look out the window. "It's such a beautiful day," you think, "Why can't you go out?" As you continue to look out the window, something catches your eye: a handsome or beautiful person of the gender of your preference. You stop and can't help but admire him or her. Your desire to leave the office gets even stronger - such that you desperately want to meet that dreamy guy or girl. What do you do?
  14. Thank you all for showing that you care and understand my situation. Words can't express my gratitude and appreciation for all of your support. It may not seem like it, but I am grateful for you all!
  15. No, I am not female. Although maybe you are right about the seasonal depressive disorder and endorphins. I guess maybe that's what I need. But nonetheless I'd like to thank you and everyone else in this topic for your thoughtful, encouraging input! I read everything you all posted and it helped me look at things in perspective. Again, thank you! I really appreciate it!
  16. Not Second Life. Just...life in general. Right now, I'm just trying to vent out my anger.... I'm so different from other people. I feel like my beliefs and ideas don't fit in with the rest of society. I know some of you will say kind words, and I really appreciate it and thank you for that, but nobody really knows how I feel....
  17. How did you know my alt's hair had poseballs? To answer your question, I have tried them at least once but I don't really use them.
  18. I'd say comedy-drama. There's a lot of drama and humor in Second Life.
