  1. He uses his desktop for his studio stuff, he makes music, so at times we are wanting to use it at the same time, so I'd like my own. I also would like a desktop downstairs, as his is upstairs.
  2. I am trying to avoid having it custom built as I am not techie at all. I also have had people steal packages off of my porch, so am trying to avoid having computers, computer parts having to be shipped to me. Unfortunately, I only have Best Buy and a few other places near me that would have a semi decent computer for SL. I do not play really any other games (I don't think of SL as a game though), so I'm looking for a decent one for SL. I also am a freelancer and need a faster, better computer than my laptop.
  3. Thank you Lilith for taking the time to give me your feedback and advice! My budget is about $850 which will include the computer, monitor (may be able to get a second hand one from a friend), mouse and build in OS - Win 10. I'll add your links and feedback to my research folder.
  4. I've been using my old laptop (very laggy for SL) and hubby's desktop for SL. His desktop has a great processor but the graphics card is not great. Therefore, I am looking to buy my own desktop. I found a couple that are within my budget and was wondering if those with the knowledge of graphics cards can give me their thoughts/feedback. Thanks so much in advance! I also welcome other recommendations as well. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-omen-by-hp-desktop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060-1tb-hard-drive-brushed-aluminum/5759916.p?skuId=5759916 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gamer-ultra-desktop-amd-fx-series-8gb-memory-amd-radeon-rx-460-1tb-hard-drive-black/5615009.p?skuId=5615009

  7. Love, love, love this idea!! Thank you SL! :matte-motes-big-grin: I had no problems viewing the Winter Wonderland page, I was already signed into secondlife.com so maybe one needs to sign in first to view certain pages regarding "Maturity" etc.
  8. Sent you a group invite highxflyer :matte-motes-big-grin:
  9. Welcome back to SL! The first thing that I would do is read up on the recent updates to SL. You can see them in your Blog Feeds when you log into secondlife.com website. The biggest thing right now is Bento. Next I would decide whether you want to use your standard body for get a mesh body. You can find reviews of mesh bodies and heads here http://meshbodyaddicts.com/ and you'll see the tabs for the reviews on the top toolbar. Some of the reviews may not be current though. I am not sure if we are allowed to recommend a certain brand here on the forum, but in my opinion, Maitreya Lara is the best mesh body on the market now. The runner ups are Belleza and Slink. For hair, clothes, accessories, it all depends on what your style is, of course. I tend to lean towards simple and classic as my style. A few hair brands that I personally love are: TRUTH, Mina, DeLa, eXxEsS Hair, Magika. Clothing brands that I love: Blueberry, Addams, (my mind went blank to think of more lol) Blogs to check out to get ideas of other hair/clothes brands, some are free group gifts: http://www.scoop.it/t/second-life-freebies-und-mehr https://fabfree.wordpress.com/ http://nessmarket.com/ http://slfashiondirectory.com/ I didn't want to put up too much stuff, didn't want to overwhelm you. But very important also is to DEMO!! Do not buy things without getting a demo first, so many of us have wasted money to find out that things don't look/fit right, or not our style. I'm sure others will give out great recommendations as well. Good luck!
  10. Sent you a group invite, SAULGOODIE :matte-motes-big-grin:
  11. Hi everyone, I just made a group for people to get together weekly or so. We'll be discussing on planning get togethers to explore, dance, play games, go to live events, have discussions and more. It is invite only for now, but is free. Reply here if you would like me to send you an invite or send me a notecard inworld to ClariceRose For those that are maxed out on their groups, I'll also be listing the get togethers on my facebook page that I have for SL. So, feel free to contact me regarding that as well, we can add each other on FB. *Edited to add: It may be a bit before we have our first get together, I need to talk to the group members and find a day and time we can all agree on.. it may have to be two separate times, due to time zones, will see.
  12. Welcome back, Lizabeth! I'm going to form a group that will have weekly events to meet new people and socialize. Since there are so many people with different time zones in SL, it may have to be twice weekly. We would be doing things like exploring, live events, dancing, playing games like Greedy, etc. Would you be interested? I'll also try to send you an IM inworld once SL is up and running (there are issues logging in right now). In case I forget to IM you, feel free to reach out to me inworld.
  13. Updates here: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/
  14. Any item in SL is "Buyer Beware". Depending on when you sent her an IM, she may be not online. Try waiting a couple days then send her another IM.
  15. Due to RL being busy last year, the co-owner of the group and I were not able to get enough people interested or plan events. However, anyone can make a group. The thing is though, many people disable their group notices so they would not see the event schedules unless they went into the group notices manually. A good idea would be make a website as well as having a group. You can post the info about events on the site and people view the site without being bombarded with group notices. I was thinking of making another group, but sometimes it seems there is quite a bit of interest from people then they fade away. It takes time and energy to have a group and plan things for it. If there are a few people that are willing to help out, we can discuss it. I have a friend who is interested in helping but we would need a couple more. We were thinking instead of making another "Singles" group, to instead just make a group for socializing. Thoughts on any of this?
  16. I have had several mesh bodies, my faves are Maitreya, Tonic Curvy and Slink. However, sometimes I will take off my mesh body to wear clothes that I love and miss wearing. Even if one got mesh feet and hands, you need appliers for them for skins. Using the classic avatar is fine, some may not like it but YOU do what YOU like. Be yourself. I have seen a ton of women without mesh bodies who are gorgeous. Yes, a mesh body can be a pain in the butt, you have to mess around with huds, appliers etc. Yes, they are much more smooth though. It depends on what makes YOU happy. Your SL.. enjoy it and run it the way that you desire.
  17. I go to sims that I used to frequent when I was new too, for nostalgia. It's fun. Sometimes I got to Freebie Galaxy to get some funny things to dress up in. I can be a big goofball at times.
  18. I also set up a similar group in the past for single people but it didn't get much attention. I'd love to join your group, I'll look it up!
  19. When you do a search in the marketplace, try searching in Apparel then "Unisex". I just did that and a bunch of items came up.
  20. Have you recently bought any new dances, poses, animations? Do you have a bdsm collar on? Sometimes that glitch will happen to me but it moslty always goes away after I find out that I was wearing something that was causing it. What you may want to do is take all your clothes/items off, relog then put on a totally different outfit.. see if that works.
  21. "Merging two (or more) failing clubs is no guarantee of creating a successful one, and if you're already successful, why join with someone who's doing badly?" Not merge two bad clubs lol.. but maybe two decent ones. Of course there will be the issues of creative differences. Just saddens me to see so many places in SL with hardly any people in them. I love the variety of sims that are not clubs.. but way too many clubs here. However, as you said, it is mostly because of people realizing that here is no profit to be made in a club, you have to do it for fun and put your heart into it. I guess if you look on the bright side, new clubs opening all the time creates a good profit for the people selling the club merchandise, products, etc.
  22. Why are there so many "new" clubs opening in SL? There are so many already! There are not enough people on SL to frequent all of them. Are people power hungry, is that why so many ones are opening, do they just want to say "I own a club in SL" or ? I am not being sarcastic, just trying to understand. I think it would be better for clubs to merge, thoughts? I'm just venting, yes, but I also am curious to find out why there are so many clubs in SL.
  23. This sounds fun to watch! I'll be looking out for the next match, do you have a set schedule?
  24. Even in places that you'd think would be "sex-free", there will always be someone who is a pervert. Not the sim's fault though. Here are some things that may help you get less "Hey baby, you're sexy" IMs... 1. Put in your profile "I do not have sl sex". The perverts who read profiles will hopefully figure to not waste their time. 2. Make your own group and have at least 2 people in it (any groups with less than 2 will be removed). Once you have formed the group, you can make your own group tags such as: "Do Not Disturb" "Read My Profile" etc and things like that. 3. Activate your auto response. This way you can weed out any perverted IMs and they will leave you alone most of the time when they get an auto response. Hopefully those three things will minimize perverted IMs.
  25. Public Service Announcement: The world will not end if we are not able to log into Second Life. I repeat, the world will not end. Any company has issues with things, no one is perfect. There will always be times when SL is down, there are RL things to do while we wait for it to come back up.
