  1. That' s basically Windows 8 Servicepack 1. Not a seperate version but a revisioned one. ( Yes Windows 11 might as well have been called 10.1 )
  2. You mean your mind is a fog before you turned on the washing machine ?
  3. So Ariasque one could wonder this woman is relaxing after destroying evidence by bleech ... How subtly sinister this picture.
  4. @Lindal Kidd : Let us know if that means Bill Gates will finally get some love from you next week onwards ?
  5. @Quartz Mole : Stay clung to your seat, baywatch.
  6. And that is the only reason these threads are started. They fill a need for the OP. Spot on, Sam1.
  7. We can blame them. We just cannot stop them, since LL never set proper limits to use like, as I said before, is ALWAYS done in triple A titles. ( For example : triple A titles will always get rid of that pesky data that brings the game to a halt or freeze. In SL however it became an art to create just such data. A whole different approach to optimization. )
  8. Why not monitor the texture loading with CTRL + SHFT + 3 ? You will see what is trying to be loaded into texture memory. And please do so with variable drawdistance settings and notice the differences in loading.
  9. Penny Pax wrote a lot about the content users create and the inevitable problem of texture overflowing network activities. If user were contstrained to limit their texture size, things might be far more optimal than they are now with unoptimized textures. Something that is always done in a game engine of any triple A title you can think of. And it' s also something that has limited FPS average from day one. It' s also not helping the video memory is still limited to 2GB only while GPU's currently contain much more memory to be used. I think now dynamically upto 4GB can be set , but imagine how optimal SL would run if you could use texture memory to it's fullest with your current GPU ( 24 GB is it not ? ) Oh .. and shadows .. disable those .. and watch your FPS go up instantly.
  10. Only once I had a valid reason : on a standalone sim ( no other sims around ) and with a starry sky holding a diameter of 1024. The sight was awesome and the framerate never dropped significantly. Of course I always forgot back then to set back DD when teleporting away from there , resulting in almost a complete standstill when ending up anywhere else.
  11. Debian-stable running on Windows 11 ... 😮 ... I think I need a break ....
  12. Awesome, man ! It worked. Thanks a million !
  13. Upgrade succesful. Running Firestorm without issues.
  14. @Coffee Pancake : No, I meant I'll continue my Windows 11 installation and avoid Linux as a topic in this thread.
  15. You sure sound like it. It will not make me enjoy my multiboot and having the best of both worlds anything less ...
  16. Thanks .. and .. staying on topic ... I joined the Windows Insider Program .. updated 2 KB articles .. rebooted ... returned to Windows Update ... ... to be continued.
  17. @Lindal Kidd : I did not let the geeks in .. they were suddenly here .. I just passed along bragging .. 😶 ( hey I even gave you belated Windows support ) ( hurry up, @Qie Niangao we need Windows 11 results fast )
  18. Well . the issue for me here is Debian .. for some reason Debian will not allow me to install libssl1.1:i386 eventhough I enabled multi-architecture. This even goes for Wine32 .. i cannot install it. Wine64 installs fine ( have not tried anything with it yet though ), but it will not start the Win32 SLVoice.exe included with the viewer. ETA : I only have this issue with SLVoice , the viewer works just fine as any other application which requires audio, so no big dealbreaker for me. ETA 2 : Wait ? So I could also try running the viewer in Debian with SLVoice of my Win 10 by Wine64 ? Can I combine those ?
  19. Ah yes .. SuSE with Yet another Superfluous Try and all that kind of goodness .. and what do you need a book for ? YOU CAN TRY THE FREE VERSION OF ZORIN_OS !!! ( goddemmit, Scyllah .. now look what you made me do .. )
  20. Go for the free version then . I 'll be right here for the free support you probably won' t need ..
  21. I very highly recommend ZorinOS Pro ( Ubuntu based ) - version in your specific case. Try the free version first. You might be pleasantly surprised. IF you like a GNOME-based desktop.
