  1. Thanks to Bengta's hard work, I have my first 5 + page thread. yay?
  2. That would be a perfectly workable solution. Do what Gingir says, LL, & no one gets hurt 😛
  3. I'd hoped for some tech work around (one that a scriptor could even sell) since I suspect mainland will get even more ... colorful and not everyone who attracts visitors wants to build in the sky. As more people move to estates or to Linden themed continents, this will be how it goes. Pretty much all public spaces & business will eventually move off mainland, if they can do so. So it goes
  4. What do we want? When do we want it? Oh about 7 + years ago? But that'll do, LL, that'll do. (pic taken just this morning as 5 really cool people opted to start their day on the beach near my home with coffee & chat)
  5. That is perfectly said, Raspberry. Prosocial values means so much more to most of us than: a bunch of cool stuff I bought or built that only I ever use or look at. Meh.
  6. And we don't know why exactly those homes got freed (some people may have had other reasons than "outrage"). I'm not allowing this thread to go on the Premium Increase Bonfire- there are plenty of threads for that but... As usual with LL- it's probably more the timing & the way this was done that's the biggest source of friction: hey, maybe don't do this when a ton of people are frustratedly trying to access a taste of the new premium benies. IE: F5ing like crazy to try & get in Bellisseria. And maybe don't offer a grandfathered term due on all your premium alts at once. But yes the popularity of Bellisseria, esp. with us olds should be telling them something about how to approach land management elsewhere and I'm not sure they are really hearing us.
  7. So, as I so often feel about LL, they have good ideas and are headed in the right direction, but I feel like they misread the motivations of residents pretty often. Bellisseria is not a jumping off point, it's a long sought destination. I've talked to quite a few Bellisserians about this and a theme has emerged: oldbees (like me) after years are rediscovering what is good about SL, prompted by a newfound sense of community. The new continent, with it's banning of banlines & beautiful, public congregation spaces is encouraging us to get to know each other & open our homes & hearts and that's what we wanted from SL all along. Many if not most of us call this home now and if we move at all (unlikely since the community sense in Bellisseria is rooting itself quickly and deeply) will likely move to other new homes on different themed LL continents as they are built. So, I really believe, LL should rethink the whole idea that these are "starter" homes we'll graduate from. That is not how the citizens with the longest term commitment to SL are perceiving this, by and large. Know your market, LL.
  8. I don't mind the price increase- long overdue; but the way they dropped it (as ever with LL) Not enough heads up to smooth the way... letting us have one more term at current price is great, if that bill wasn't due ALL AT ONCE for my land alts. I think they could've sweetened the deal more than just 10 more memberships and more offline IMs. & & I think the blow to basic members was uncalled for. I'm not pissed as much as a little grumpy & yes... letting go of premium on some land alts. & yeah if you think people are burning the forums down now, wait til the Super Premium deets are announced. But it will blow over in both cases & people will adjust.
  9. And I really hope they do, because with last nights news: I am cutting some land alts back to basic, and selling off my mainland. I'm not alone in this either, from what I've heard. So ... that escalated quickly.
  10. that's so adorable *falls over twitching with cute attack
  11. Will payment for a yearly renewal be due upon the date one's current plan ends or immediately upon taking that option?
  12. Thanks Hendrix, I hope someone will clarify. One premium yearly?- Sure I can swing that next month; but more than one...? Ummmmm
  13. yup- my refrain for years... the song goes on & on 😛
  14. hoping this is the deal, but will it take payment on the 3rd or at the actual time of renewal?
  15. I'd assumed so, but I'm a big fan of explicitly clear & detailed communication *looking at you, LL*
  16. Are the legacy stipends for oldbees also staying the same (500l) ? If one is on yearly auto renewal , does the lock in at the lower price hit with your next yearly renewal?
  17. Still .... I'd love to see a *tech* answer to all this (technological Utopian that I am). If any scripter can make the screen I described in my first post (or if not, tell me why that's a no go, I'm interested in learning). Then my neighbor could have 2 or 12 or as many 2 story naked anime characters as she needed to find true bliss and I'd be happy for her because it would impact me not at all
  18. You may well be right- perhaps this will govern itself, with people choosing wisely to build in areas that aren't subject to the whims of the unknown or, conversely, choosing to be part of the Wild West for the full liberty it offers. If so- don't mind my worry warting. The thing that makes me hesitant is only that LL has consistently been surprised by the demand for strict covenant, themed land provided affordably & with built in stability of a sort by LL itself. I worry they may be victims of their own success, but time will tell & adjustments will be made.
  19. And that, right there, is the reason to get ahead of this and give more options that keep mainland competitive. Because yes, people do want those benefits, but not with a side of "I went to sleep, when I woke up, the neighbors put a 2 story, full bright, nude Hello Kitty outside my shop and people are mass deleting my landmark now." (I'm being funny. I know certain kinds of neighborly aggression are against TOS, but if LL set things up properly, it would help defray many disputes)
  20. And I think you are far from alone in this sentiment. I don't have a commercial space, but I have a non club "party space"- a ballroom and hangout for music lovers. It's a thing I've invested time & effort into. When I TP in my first thought now is *always* (after looking around at my region): "Burn it all to the ground (kinda difficult on waterland) or Z fling it into a sky dome, which will it be?"
  21. BIngo. Exactly the point I made in my last post on my thread I linked to, and not a bad outcome, profit wise, for LL. But if LL just let's it play out like that, and they don't address mainland becoming less & less desirable over time.... well that could lead to resentment and I'd like to think we can find solutions before that happens.
  22. I'm not sure that's going to play out as they expect.
  23. Yeah, that sounds a bit... unrealistic. IMO, New Urrbanism has some flaws, but it is rooted in a very true sociological principle- well designed spaces help set peoples' expectations and behaviors. Poorly designed spaces can lead to a tragedy of the commons. Good and bad social norms are contagious and they are reinforced by the spaces we inhabit. I predict that a large percentage of people will not "graduate" from starter homes, but will instead roll premium alts and buy Linden Homes in differing themed regions. I could be wrong about all this , tho.
  24. & how do you know they're alts and not just members of the same group? My wife & I each have a home... 2 homes/ 2 people, in our case. But since there is no way of knowing, what good is judging & speculating? New homes are coming. In months. In the meantime: come hang out in Bellisseria & roll the F5 dice now & again, you may get lucky.
