  1. That would be amazing haha, and everything would improve in the FPS and performance department. Can I push the button? To be fair, people are going to scream anyway, but that's just entitlement talking. It should happen, and over time and will happen or the platform dies. As my examples in my post, I've seen people invest a ton of money in games, and then abandon them in 2 years, which is a long time for any gamer to play one game - but illustrates the point that they're willing to lose the money they spent as it was part of the cost of entertaining themselves, getting XP boosts, or looking cool while pwning people Yes, and then punishing creators for wanting to upload a mesh that is 320 tris (Low Poly and Mobile Game standard or less), just because it's bigger, and if I don't provide the subsequent LODs (hard to break down something that is already optimal), it wants to punish even harder. For example, I'm trying to upload an entire building side, which individual parts costs me only 6Li, but because they're together in one mesh, then uploader says 50Li or higher, no matter what I do. Seems a bit unfair, considering there would be less calls to the material used itself, and even the physics shape is approximately 8-10 less shapes in it too because of it. Nope, can't do. It wants smaller meshes and linked - then it just caters to that problem of if you build modularly as a creator, anyone who wants mod/copy has a free building set with each purchase... It also means like you said, and what I've observed, I can get an absurdly high detail smaller mesh into SL with no surge in Li, and with 8 materials x 1024px, and we are too believe a big wall does more damage than a little mesh model (even if it decimates faster) I'll deal with it, but it's not like I"m not going to post about it after a particularly frustrating session of optimizing and trying to upload something
  2. Sure. Thanks for the supporting comment. You are correct. I do my best and be the most efficient I can and becoming more so as I can. My purpose is to make stuff so that people can fill their worlds lag free - and I want to contribute to the success of SL (and did the same in Sansar) in that department. I was just commenting on what customers want - they have no idea what it takes behind the scenes and will usually go for the prettiest thing out there - completely oblivious to what it will cost them when they try to use it in their sims. Might be beating a dead horse trying to encourage LL to start making Land Impact actually reflect TRUE land impact of things, especially with texture use, and also not to punish me for uploading a wall that is 5m x 15m size (composition) and punishing me with 50 Li when the composition is only 960 tris, and if I uploaded individual parts (each with their own physics shape, not just one) at 5mx5m each suddenly it only costs me 3-5Li when I join them together. Makes me want to cry sometimes (not really but almost haha so frustrating sometimes). I'm figuring it out though, but in general the SL Uploader punishes anything big, regardless if it is very low tris, but allows what I've seen up to 100,000 tris and beyond as 1 Li (with multiple texture sets) just because it is 1m-2m in size... But if they claim to be making SL more efficient and want it to last another 10-15 years, it's time for a change, and nothing lasts forever, and if old stuff breaks, so be it. Everyone else from gamers (who will spend $1000 in cosmetic items and experience boosts for multiple characters in only Planetside 2 ffs then not playing it 2 years later) to creators on other platforms understand - as tech moves forward revisions and re-uploads are part of it. Have a nice day.
  3. Yes sometimes everyone forgets that we had to build with prims, and so 3 Li was reached even if only 6 blocks.. Now we can get fully detailed doors or even entire walls for 3 Li, but people demand low Li! This is probably where the problems arise and why people are kind of gaming the system as their customers demand it with such Li shortage (yet I can't believe 32 x 1024 textures won't have more impact than a 4800 tri 1m object - or a 320 tri 5m object ffs LL)
  4. I went there and wtf haha. And who is the person making the parcels, they're all tiny and so many. The genies parcel is like 10 x10 feet with 12 prims haha. Weird place to be in the middle of nowhere, funny post
  5. You do have a "Was this review helpful?" button there but I'm pretty much sure it's just to make you feel better but doesn't actually do anything.
  6. Yes, they just wouldn't be there, and the parcel would be available to someone else who doesn't need to be a jerk. All problems solved, since as you can read they won't budge on the ejects or autobans either, in their true toxic community style.
  7. OR A MUCH SIMPLER SOLUTION: Disallow 0 second ejects and autobans. Stop ejects that send a player's avatar back home, losing their place in the world. 30 second ejects should be short enough to do the job, and give people time to fly over and out, etc You're not offering solutions, you're just offering scolding and condescension laced with accusations as to my intent or how I think of other people. I will now no longer respond to you, thanks for your input. Linden Lab can consider the OP, and take it or leave it.
  8. Multiple times, on multiple days - enough to piss me off enough to post about it. Exactly! It was also a suggestion for a possible solution to address those players who are adamant in maintaining their privacy, ban lines and enjoy ejecting people with 0 second ejects and even some auto bans. That they would be better suited to an on-demand instance of their land, at whatever size they wish. No! Why would it have to do that? Effectively that parcel would be made available to anyone again, as the parcel gets freed up on "Mainland" that we can all public access, to their own instance which has nothing to do with the region anymore. There would be no holes. Their parcel is no longer represented by that virtual space in that region. They are off on 'private' servers, where they belong - because they want privacy so bad. They are literally not there, they are in their own instance. If Kitely can spin up regions, and Sansar can spin up small worlds on demand, and they're all using the same tech at AWS, then why not. Of course don't ask me how I would do that. I'm not on LL's networking and server admin team You're missing several stubborn and quite aggressive posts by landowners/renters who assert that it's just too bad and that I and others have to put up with it, that we have no right to think we can fly over or land on their property, they have a right to see fit as they wish, LL says 0 second eject is fine they say, don't like it dont play they say, all sorts of things. So I provided a possible solution that would allow free roaming by the masses of SLers, what benefits there were for everyone, and how LL could consider serving both people - EXPLORERS (that the main page advertises) and crazy privacy hounds (who seem to rent on Mainland, not a private server). OR A MUCH SIMPLER SOLUTION: Disallow 0 second ejects and autobans. Stop ejects that send a player's avatar back home, losing their place in the world. 30 second ejects should be short enough to do the job, and give people time to fly over and out, etc. What's so hard to understand about that? Anytime you give someone power over another person's avatar, it better be fair and balanced. People have left and will leave over this, as to them it's just rude at the least, antisocial at best - and they don't come back
  9. A recent random flyover of a parcel not only ejected me without warning, but added me to a ban list for 14 days. I tried to screen shot it, but the messages disappeared in the top right corner of Firestorm, and not doubled in chat. So it happens to have both at the same time cuz someone is crazy
  10. Well if they're using Amazon Workspaces or servers there is already ability to spin up an instance. I believe the last time I checked Kitely they were doing that - not sure what host they are using to do it, but the worlds dont spin up until someone visits them (Sansar style), and the worlds shut down 15 minutes after the last avatar leaves. This is so they can save resources - it's a bit annoying when they don't spin up very fast, etc but the concept is there and that it can be done. A private parcel can be it's own server instance. IMVU kind of does this too I believe. Only loads up an instance when needed albeit with much more limited interaction. Pretty sure it can be done, but hey I'm just spitballing here. I'm sure simply setting eject orbs to 30 seconds, and ejecting to a nearby parcel instead of Home would be a much simpler and easier solution. The original point of posting the OP was to address the hardcore posters who demand privacy and ban lines and have no problem with 0 second eject/insta bans.
  11. I never argued I had a right, or that I did not support land users from protecting their land or privacy as they see fit. However because it exists, it makes exploring the mainland kinda dangerous now lol cuz getting sniped. Ban lines are almost better because at least all you do is bump your head and you don't lose your place. I also offered many reasons why free exploration is beneficial to everyone, and if you and others are so against it that perhaps LL should consider instance-loaded parcels instead. That way you can have your privacy and be the king/queen of your domain, and those who want to participate in Second Life's vast world will be able to do so. Or other solutions. It would be nice if you had an attitude to find a solution to something in your replies, rather than just doubling down on your position. Now watch them double down LOL
  12. I searched for Zenoscope yesterday and it led me to an empty place, but in my flyings around I came across the actual event place that you described, and yeah... sorry it was real bad. Could not and would not complete the quests.. Even if the structure was more exciting than just 'click on the symbols' (the same technique was used in Sansar, hopefully not the same person, even complete with golf course level), the story was just horrible. "Mary has taken off with the Zenoscope merch! How can we get merch if she is taken it! Follow the clues and see if you can find the merch!" Huh what? Holy cow boring. Yes brutally blunt , but we could use more of that around here. This is better (maybe) ------------------- Farmer McWhiskers can't sleep. He needs to til his fields and be ready to plant in time so that he can have a good harvest.. However, there is a group of squirrels in a nearby forest constantly making banging and clanging sounds out there, like they're trying to build something. He has noted that only in the last few days, there seems to be some radio-looking structure starting to rise above the trees - and he can frequently see little shapes bouncing and moving at it's pinnacle especially at sunset when he can see the silhouettes. He would like you to investigate, and if you succeed in finding the source and putting a stop to it, he would surely reward you with [insert $L amount] + [useful mesh item]. It looks like the forest is getting dark, it's probably not the best to go in until you can get to a higher point to observe.. You climb a path up towards a look out.... "Excuse me!" says something. You look around, who said that "Excuse me, you are in my way!". It seems to be coming from a large rock who seems to be blocking the path. "You are in my way good sir, and I would ask that you move to the side!" Being polite, you move to the side. "Hmm, I cant seem to move, I had a good roll going down this hill before you interrupted me, after all I did not want to hit you, but now I seem to have lost my momentum and I am on the flattest side of myself! Yes I should be in better shape, but it has been such a long time since I had a good roll, I must admit I have squared off since the last time. Please find something that you could use to perhaps lift me up, a lever of sorts, to help me get rolling again!" [Find stick, find rock, put them together to create a lever, and insert stick below Robby The Rock] "All right then, help me please!" With a great grunt you lever Robby and he begins to roll. As he picks up speed he says "thank you kind sir! Wheee ! I'm really speeding up this time! Make way! make way or be flattened hahah haha! Thank you sir, now beware the fairy at the top of the hill he likes to play tricks on people at the lookout! Now away! Wheeeeee" Up the path to the lookout. As the sun is waning and at this distance you can make out a lot of tree tops some with spindly points where the branches finally give way to the sky.... it's a good height from here to clear the forest and get a good view of what the Squirrels may be doing, if only one had a telescope or some good glasses... [ You see a viewing telescope at the crest of the hill at the lookout] You look through it, but it is empty. There is nothing there, just an empty tube. Well this is no help at all. "Heee hee! Looking for something?" You hear... -------------- See? A main goal, you can see, you know about, but there are obstacles in the way and interesting side quests or prerequisites, and a good story. Hey I didn't say it was good, but I could go on, but that's for me to use in future projects. Better than "huh find the merch!" "Find the glowy things!" THEN You have engagement, immersion, interest and people will most likely want to see what's next, and maybe tell their friends to play it.. Zenoscope. Sorry no. I hope they can do better.
  13. I entered Warehouse and even Only under Building Structures and it was returning bungalows, homes, gas stations and night clubs first. Yeah, but it's so rampant as I had discovered in the past, that I would be reporting hundreds of listings doing that, my finger would break off and or get carpal tunnel syndrome (and I suspect LL doesn't appreciate so many reports). They say to report it, but they really dont want you to It could literally be a full time job for a staff member to investigate and unlist all that do it, and they'd probably be busy for a year to catch up. This is why Google moved away from keywords, and to analyzing contents in descriptions and an article instead, as it is more accurate and prevents people from gaming the system as they did in the past. "A stylized sculpture of a horse that is black with gold reins, on stone platform and with grass accents" can be searched, and more accurate "Wooden farm fence with iron rusted gate, and trellis arch for your garden" "Cute little kitty tabby cat available in colors black, grey and orange. Meows at visitors when they come nearby."
  14. Oh well, I'm not in a court of law. It's just a post for LL to consider, and making a case best I can, and so it will have to stand as it is. Have a nice day.
  15. Sure wulfie but the weird thing is, it's already happening anyway. It's just that we have the extra overhead of rendering their buildings and such in the world, and can't access it anyway. For me I'd pay for a private on demand if it meant I could get more Li as a result, and if I was a privacy hound, one would think that would be an extra bonus. But I like to build and share, and so my only requirement is a valid account with payment on file. And I'm open to all visitors. It's always that strange conflict some people engage in: they want privacy, they want to block and ban people.. but then rail against actually being private and on their own. If SL isn't the open world that I thought it was, and open to exploration without needless snipes and blocks, and it seems in general that people want that privacy, why not move towards single instance servers then?
  16. Yep, one would think that you would go see what your competitors are up to, why the players are over there and not over here (your platform), what looks to be a success, what are the players doing, maybe talk and friend some and see why they like it, etc. Nothing different from a restaurant one might own, and you go to other ones to see what they're doing right, etc and emulate their success. I hate to keep beating the Sansar thing - but it was the same stubborness that kept anyone from going over to VRChat, Rec Room and any number of competing platforms in the same genre - and see why their numbers increased tremendously during the last 3 years while their platform died off.. Some of use were reporting why and giving examples - and were outright punished for the feedback or labeled toxic, when all we wanted to do was point and say "Look, this is what they're doing and this is what they want!" Maybe a survey would be a good thing for LL to consider.. get the pulse from different views from within SL and even from outside to get a real barometer of the state of SL today and people's outlook on it. Can't market until one knows what the market wants, or even know who the intended market will be..
  17. I'm well aware of the issues, and instead of trying to respond to known unknown 'reports' or cases or exceptions to the rule you want to put forward, I can only comment on the arguments you present.
  18. I can agree with you on that point, but it also doesn't negate what I said, or offer a counterargument that gamers (who populate those other platforms in the millions) would want to or be able to transition over to SL with existing structures. Sure and continuance of my reply above I could be wrong or ignorant of such things. I am completely open to any technology and education that would empower me to use SL to it's fullest. I'm also just reporting my own experiences from my gaming history and network, and some younger generations in my network who look at Roblox and Fortnite one way, and look at SL another way (Because they see me on it) and they tell me. I am NOT the full story and I recognize that, but I have to put my experience in for consideration.
  19. They wouldn't get fired over telling relevant stories eg. "I had an amazing weekend camping everyone we had so much fun. We went hiking up to this mountain lake, we ate hot dogs and enjoyed marshmellows. Even the dogs had fun, running and barking as they had the whole park it seems to themselves. It didn't even rain... How was your weekend, kids?" They would get fired over details that would be unprofessional or unneeded. You see it's not just that they can't mention it, they WANT to mention it because their is an agenda behind it, and it is not a teachers job to make a political or social point as a teacher. They are there to teach reading writing and arithmetic. See how the story can be told, leaving out any controversial issues, tells a nice story, and then includes the children, all the while remaining professional at all times?
  20. That's what forums are for though Also it was never my request to eliminate orbs or land protections. Please read the OP before responding next time.
  21. Sure, perhaps a few teachers did in my time in high school too, but they only went so far, because if they DID start dragging their personal lives into the school and with students, it would not have been acceptable. A teacher can be engaging, supportive and a wonderful mentor to a student, yet you don't need to know that they go to a Presbyterian vs a Catholic church, or that they have wild sex in underground clubs every Thursday night from 2am to 5am, or that they like to drink Crown Royale and do jelly shots with hookers on the weekends either. No they don't, they want professionalism.
