  1. really nice there... one thing that would make it a 'pohotographer paradise' is having some temp rezz .. 30 min or so, great for shooting couples, etc...
  2. yes, that appeared to do the trick. turning off object-object occulsion thanks
  3. was wondering anybody know how to combat this issue - when viewing ocean from high above, like flying in a plane, with all the shaders on and deferred rendering on, the simes "blink" i tried turning off deferred, post prosses glow, reflections... but once the atmosphere shaders are on, it's blink city any suggestions to fix this?
  4. I currently run a GTX 970. I upgraded from a GTX 760. Performance wise, not much diff at all. But cooling, a world of difference. the 970 runs way way cooler, usualy in walking around mode, shaders and deffered off, the fns don't even turn on at all
  5. my quess is those are "green screened" cutouts with a bckground, shadow added in
  6. or, ask the customer what viewer they use. Make it look good for how THEY see it. if it's firestorm, will be 4:3. official viewer 1:1 ask them to look if they not sure.
  7. https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?loc=en&e=cs2_downloads Someone had posted in FB group. you can get older PS CS2 for free now

  9. Generally speaking, 'profile' shots go for around 1-2k ea. of course, the better you are the more people tend to charge
  10. Ah well after long research, i finaly order compents to replace my Dell lap top (as good as it was) Haswell i7 processor Asus z97 MB 16 gig RAM EVGA GTX 760 4 gig vid card 750w PS I decided for a bit extra, go with the i7. SL may not need it, but still is good processing large files in PS, or multi tasking or if i ever get into machimina in SL After a while, maybe, upgrade to the nvidia 9 series but i think the 760 will be more tha enuf for SL I think, that should work!
  11. I am about ready to replace my high end notebook, with runs a core i7 and 4gig nvidia card (445M). On 'ultra' however, it struggles (like maybe a couple FPS). I do SL photography and weddings. I am of course, also limited by my a 12mbs DSL internet connection, the fastest availble out here in the sticks I want to replace with a desktop, and spend about 900-1200. OS will be Windows. I understand a core i5 for Sl is fine, however, would feel odd 'downgrading' from a i7. I also do extensive PS work as well I think my biggest question is graphhics card. Nvidia vs AMD, model, memory etc I remember SL used favor nvidia card, not sure this the case anymore I may also want to venture into wedding videography at some point as well any suggestios?

  13. alot of it is balancing the sun intensity to the ambient itensity. if the sun is nearly white, and ambient is nearly black, you will get a very contrasty look. if the sun is black or nearly black and ambient is was up, you will get almost no shadows. Also, try not having the sun at noon when shootig people. ad when shooting outdoors, in sunlight, turn off local lites and attached lites. Sometimes those facelights can destroy a shot a simple start is get Strawberry Signh's windlight presets from her blog. I also have some on mine as well
  14. Actually, Black Dragon is TPV now This shot is Black Dragon: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jredstar/14145888403/ This is Firestorm https://www.flickr.com/photos/jredstar/13585667993/ Both got post, but not alot of differennce at least in day light L like BD especialy for night shots and the tone mapping is awesome, ad also, I like the BD UI way more, though that is a personal preference
  15. Here, I gave it a stab with what you had
  16. my point on the eyes you will notice they dont always line up 'parralel' human eyes, normaly, will be lined up properly when we focus our gaze somewhere. SL has a flaw and the eyes are out of psition from one another. sometimes it is barely noticeable, but alot of times you get a whole 'crazy eyes' look going on
  17. did you use ctrl +0 to zoom in, or just mouse zoomed in? the standard sl "lens" is like maybe a 18-24mm in rl, and in rl, we wouldn't use that for portaits - that would be like walking up 2 feet in front of the subject and snapping the pic IMO, the DOF is too strong here too.. SL DOF sometimes works, sometimes doesnt. in a scene like this, if could be more subtle (this may be post DOF cause seems only the water and trees are soft focus, not the sky) the last issue is something that drives me bonkers in sl, that is the SL 'crazy eyes' our eyes do not line up correctly! it is very frustrating to deal with, and being that eyes are the soul of a portrait, it is really notiable But i this case, the alignment isnt too far off, it is more the blank stare that is throwing me off (me personly, i tend to move the eyes either to the left or right sides, or, if i want 'eye contact' what i do is set the eyes and start rotating the cam until i 'feel' the eyes looking at me) and i would also say if the model would have rotated a little more to the picture left, not so much a dead on look, them move the sun maybe just barely off the left edge and given that side of her head a kiss of light.
  18. maybe a little OT, but, sure would be nice is Linden narrowed down and standardized aspect ratios, so that one picture to be displayed in various places doesnt need different aspect ratios and a hint for people running photo contests in world and displaying photos in world, my little pet peeve here: Tell us what aspect ratio you will be displayig them as, or display them as the aspect ratio we send them to you! grrr! nothing more frustrating then sending a photo at 16:9, only to see them display it is a 1:1 ratio!
  19. that's interesting. didn't really notice it was downsizing. on uploads you will still get a message if you try uploadig something larger than 2048 (least on Niran's viewer) and yeah, for a pic just on your profile, larger won't show any more quality. But if they are displayed in world on say a 5mx5m board, you will notice the difference between 256, 512 or 1024. well, at least i can see it:) but i wll also say this, while sl may be downsizing to 1024, there is also a difference in quality between an image outside of sl between 1024 and 2048 (or higher)
  20. I honestly wouldn't go less than 1024, all the images I upload are max allowed, 2048 and I do profiles 1:1, firestore still has the option on, by default, of seeing the 'old style' profile, with a 4:3 format, but, I do believe the "official" ratio now is 1:1 and a square photo slooks a little better strected to 4:3, than a 4:3 squised to 1:1, if you had to choose the lesser of 2 evils, IMO
  21. that would also require a Linden to actually own a **bleep**. Don't think that'll ever happen!
  22. The issue is more the sun time of day, and the color/intesity of the sun and ambient a sun between 11-1pm is almost straight over head and east angle won't change it much. use early morning or late after noon sun then, you need to make sure the sun and ambient are balanced to give you the shadow darkness you desire. increasing sun brightness (brightness in this case mean picking a color closer to the white end) and decreasing ambient brightness will make darker shadows, and vica versa. you want to play with those 2 settings to find the right balance also keep in mind how your subject is positioned E, W, N and S will also affect how the sun can be positioned for shadows
  23. I'll call your christmas sweater Val, and raise!
