@Delia Tafler those may be a red herring. This is one of the legitimate "clear your cache and log in again" scenarios.
-
@Delia Tafler that error is from talking to Dore which is definitely not fixed yet. Are you certain you were really on Ahern?
-
Also thanks for the forum post. Because of it, correction and prevention got underway earlier than they would have. Sometimes the forums do useful work!
-
Yup, crossing into a bad region will end your journey. All the viewer's capabilities break as well as other things. Bonafico is looking better and the 'Second Life Server' channel is where you want to stay to get work done for the moment. (Yes, I know, we don't advertise channels like we used to. We'll talk about that later....)
-
Just certs expiration. Some AWS migration expediencies slow the response actions a bit but that's the essence. @Lance Kent try logging in to Ahern directly and see how things go.
-
It's not entirely back yet but some SLS regions on Aditi are now working and being tested. Ahern for one (not Morris or Dore and Bonifacio is a little sick at the moment). Recommend waiting a bit but if you need to get work done...

There's a point where it simply becomes tradition...

Certs expired on aditi simhosts. Poking various people but this may be awhile.
-
The automatic system isn't robust yet. Really, really, really.... file a support ticket and work it until things are correct.

Does the materials viewer (7.0.0 58072) use more memory?
Monty Linden replied to animats's topic in Second Life Viewer
In theory, some are coming. I don't know the schedule but I have heard the cursing. -

It did! The d20 is in motion... -
Event Notifications -- do they work?
Monty Linden replied to Bloodsong Termagant's topic in Second Life Viewer
I'd normally say turn this into an enhancement (*cough* to v1 levels) request but be careful what you wish for. Someone may remember that this was to be disabled along with xml-rpc a decade ago. -
Event Notifications -- do they work?

I accidentally did maintenance on part of the events system recently. Be on the lookout for behavioral changes... -
Disable avatar's head following the camera/objects?
Monty Linden replied to Demiourgia's topic in Second Life Viewer
I've thought about introducing Linden Flies to the inventory. Then viewers can implement modes around tracking the flies in the region. Get something like this going on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ypri1vQ8agE -

Monty Linden replied to Mya Vanilla's topic in Second Life Server
The system is janky by design. We'll fix it someday. -

is an amd ryzen7 5700g a good option for SL?
Monty Linden replied to huanson135's topic in Second Life Viewer
This is becoming less true today and in the future. While 2.5 core peak usage in the past made single core speed very important, more parallelism is going into the viewer. You'll still want that high core speed but more and more, work will be found for additional cores. -
Can't log into aditi (already contacted support)
Monty Linden replied to cosmicsnail's topic in Second Life Viewer
Thanks for double checking and RTFMing but go ahead and file another ticket. We have problems doing this for ourselves and it takes a few tries sometimes. -
PROBLEM WITH FRIENDLIST (can't see online all friends)
Monty Linden replied to dylan86bo's topic in Second Life Server
@dylan86bo If you don't mind making the information public, what region are you logging into? -
Well, I can 'raise awareness.'

It's time for a place for technical discussions on viewers

And Akamai's edge throughput runs around 250Tb/s for comparison. Landing in a new region is like a very, very badly constructed web page full of javascript and duplicate images. -

We use a lot of load-bearing posters in our work.
