  1. Could just be an issue with the Internet connection you're using. Maybe try another?
  2. I think it may be a cultural shift associated with dynamic virtual community. They are not invested in you, in waiting around to see if a relationship that doesn't work for them right now is going to start working later. They will assume you are static and unchanging and keep moving. As time goes on they add friends, they prune them, cultivate them, part of constantly shifting social structures evolving on timescales that may seem to some simply breathtaking. It sort of makes sense given the amount of connection the world now has that new ways of navigating and filtering through such a sea of humanity might emerge, especially at a time of such great perhaps historically unparalleled cultural dissociation between generations caused by rapid change in the world.
  3. Here's a thread for visual memes and random found things from across the Internet.
  4. Listen to as much new music as you can in the genres you want to play. Build a list of artists and record or net labels that put out quality work to follow. If you get stuck, you can always research. You'll find all genres on most of the cloud-based steaming services, sometimes it's just a matter of digging in a bit. Be prepared for your musical sensibilities to evolve and expand; challenge yourself. Don't forget the essential shamanic roots of DJing. Don't play to imagined expectations hoping to satisfy and entertain, instead play things that you believe invoke the right vibe and will be a memorable positive experience.
