  1. Danicah, search for an HUD on the marketplace called Viewfinder. It saves camera angles/positions in the place you are at. So when visiting there again, you can bring up those angles via menu. You can also rename them. And it can save teleport points or locations/lm for you. You can lock your camera as well in case you want to fix something but not move it.
  2. Chill. The topic clearly says it was an opinion. Theres no such thing as a perfect photo. This was aimed at commercial photography, where 'what others think' is crucial to being a Second Life Photographer.
  3. Oh and number 8 would be: Lens flares without a light source: I guess it just looks cool to have a lens flare, but at least let ti stem from a light source such as the sun. 9- Straw hair. I know this is picky on my part, but it kind of hurts my eyes when i see a beautifully edited photo with great depth n shading, only to find the painted hair is flat and has no highlights, shading or texture. It looks 2d compared to rest of the photo. Just add some white lines where the light hits, horizontaly, and smudge it up n down with ur hair brush (the one for soft feathered ends). Then where the hair isnt being lit ( see where light is hitting ur subject), add some burn or dark curves adjustment layer. That will make a big difference.
  4. Dont know whats in the video, but another way is to use the background eraser around the avatar, the delete the rest. It really helps with hair n you dont lose its feathered ends. But i might try the color range method.
  5. There are plenty in the events on SL, but mainly voting kind. Which means the one with the more friends and money (to pay friend to vote) wins, and not the one with the best photo... If anyones of a contest with judges instead of votes, plz share!!
  6. Hi, i've been doing SL photography for a while, and have noticed a Few big mistakes other photographers do. It ki d of annoys me that these mistakes often are complimented on rather than given constructive critism. This is aimed at photography that is not pure. Im talking about commercial and edited photography. 1- Poor resolution. I often find photos of avatars that are blurry or pixelated on a higher resolution background. 2- Selling photography service that doesnt include basic editing. Seriously why bother if you're only going to take a snapshot with windlight settings? At least liquify and smooth edges. Esp use the anti aliasing hardware option in SL. 3- Aspect Ratio. Please dont squish or squeeze your avatars in the photos. Esp dont display them this way in SL. It looks cheap. 4- Jagged edges. Like I said, use anti Aliasing. It can make a huge difference. 5- Over shading avatars. Thats right. Stop using so much shading for your av (burn tool in PS) to the point where it looks muddy and like the limbs are melted into eachother. You know what im talking about!! Im guilty of having done that before but i now avoid it as much as possible!! 6- dont leave clothing/ limb glitches. Fix em!! Or at least adjust them during the photoshoot so haleys arm doesnt stick out of amys chest... And if possible, have ur client adjust attached clothing to work with the pose. 7- know composition before ever doing photography!! I highly recommend learning basic composition before taking up SL photography. Some edited photos are a miss due to poor composition. Thats all for now. Thanks for listening to my lil rant lol. I wonder if others agree.
  7. Well about the background green screen, I use the background eraser tool and set it to pick up color and non contigious and make its strength about 30 or 50% to start with, then i click on a green area next to the avatar and drag it around the hair and body edges. This helps tremendously when it comes to green tainted hair or translucent clothing. Then i select the green screen thats left and delete. But i always leave a small sample on the side for touch ups. Using the background eraser is much easier than colorizing a layer and sort of painting in original hair color over the green. If theres still a green tint, i select around the hair and use the hue/saturation adjustment and change the greens to the color that matches the hair and thats the final step ( which i dont do a lot due to the fine work the background eraser tool does). Hope this helped! Good luck.
  8. Are you still interested in a photo? :3
  9. I'm interested :3. But what is needed besides me looking all gothic? . I can voice act too, if needed.
  10. As an SL photographer, I can say even I, myself cringe when I see some other photographer's work. Especially because I know how the process works, I can see faults perhaps the clients wouldn't. I've seen legs melting into eachother (bad shading), jagged edges (no anti aliasing), too much light effects to make up for what the pic lacks (although I'm guilty of that sometimes, i love light! lol), unrealistic fake shadows, i've even seen once from one of the most prominent studio in SL, the worst mistake: BAD resolution! Yes, pixelated avatar......i've had clients come to me in complete anxiety over their past experiences with other studios but thankfully they enjoyed the photos I made them, and restored their SL photographer confidence . The list goes on.. I think the best photographer you can get your hands on, would be one that gets isnpired by your photo and talks freely with you about their inspirations and exchange thoughts and ideas for the photo. If they're too silent, pushy, or rush things, definetly don't continue with them and demand a refund for your deposit. Of course that might hurt the shy photographers out there, so weigh what I said with their portfolios. It would be ideal if the client didn't have to pay a deposit, this way you could get a test shot with the photographer and see what their work really looks like, and pay when you've approved it. However, from a photog point of view, a broke client could just take a snapshot of the photo when its displayed to them for approval and say they dont like it, then walk away with my work and I get nothing lol. It is complicated...sigh. Well, good luck . A tip for photographers having a hard time with gaining trust from their clients, I would recommend using software like fraps or camtasia studio, and do a speed edit video of your edit and upload it on youtube. It shows you really did it and plus gains your popularity and exposes you further on the web for further bookings :3. Since it's fast forwarded, you're original editing techniques won't be easy to see (in case ur special or something hehe), but the process itself is cool to watch!
  11. No, I haven't tried it. But thanks for bringing it up, cause I SURE will .
  12. I love this! I was an SL photographer, I'll definetly be sending you a photo or two! .
  13. Seriously? Am I the only one who actually loves the new viewer and the sidebar? I think it helps with the clutter the separate windows make! I cant stand the old viewer now lol. Oh please for the love of God improve the avatar meshes .
