Saraya Starr wrote: omg Ko-ko, not even sure of this guy, I think I may have problems with him, only because I have baked up quite a few batches of his family :matte-motes-silly: *eyes the giant gingerbread man and bites at her fingers nervously* valerie Inshan wrote: OMG! Not too sure this will make the nightmares stop. This is hilarious, Ko! You guys are too cute! You have no issues at all with sitting in the lap of the creepiest Santa on the planet and whispering wishes in his ear, but a giant cookie frightens you? :heart: You two are strange!
  2. Aww Val, do you need an inworld dogsitter? I should be able to make it on the 30th also!
  3. I have to agree with Amethyst; the range of styles varies drastically just in one store, let alone different creators. In response to Robin though, I've heard of skin tint tattoo layers that, when worn over your purchased skin, will change the tone... but I've never tried one. On the whole I think you're better off just trying to find a shade you like in whatever store you bought this skin from. :}
  4. Saraya Starr wrote: Well, it's that time of year when I long for a change..new skins..lol.. Here is one from LAQ called Maria..first pick is the Fair shade..the second is Peach..opinions please Both look so good with your shape, Sara. I think I prefer the peach, but just to make this opinion really unhelpful-- I'm betting the fair shade would look gorgeous with your red hair too.
  5. Val: You could make any hair in SL look stunning, but I'm giving a extra purr for the mesh. :} I get what you mean about missing the movement, and some meshy-hair does look a bit plastic-y, but overall I like it heaps better. Long & wavy looks beautful on you. Kelli: That's the first mesh toga I've seen! :heart: Forgotten City is an amazingly fun place to explore too, especially if you're not afraid of heights and go up to the airship platform thing. Sara: HOST A BREAKFAST!!! :matte-motes-big-grin-squint: :matte-motes-big-grin-squint: Your sim is a wonderland.
  6. Please stop posting photos of the creepy Santa-Claus? :matte-motes-crying: I had to replace him with Gingy from Shrek just to stop the nightmares...
  7. Saraya Starr wrote: Yeah that mulled wine was good..lol..still have a bit of a headache, lost track of how much I had :smileylol: ..and speaking of Mulled wine, I have that and cookies, cupcakes, brownies and various other desserts at my house..lol Also put in a skating rink since the sim owner caved into my demands and set the terrain to snow :matte-motes-wink-tongue: So all of you are always welcome to pop into my sim and enjoy :heart: Just don't go over the wall to the vampires next door.. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Mineral%20Mountain/62/79/21 So Christmas-card pretty. :} I'll definitely be over sometime to skate, Sar-sar -- I'm set to be homeless for a little while, so if you find me curled up under the deck... eh, just toss me to the vampires. I can trade souls for cookies with the best of them.
  8. valerie Inshan wrote: Ko, I have no words to express how much I was grateful that you and Gail, and all my friends, came! You looked GORGEOUS!!!! Even Bo seems extatic! Ohh, Val... *hugs the stuffing out of you* We're awfully lucky to know you, and even luckier that you ply us with mulled wine and gingerbread at such a lovely party. Thank you for the extra Christmas magic. :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2: :heart:
  9. Raven & Val; YAY party-photos!!! I had so much fun. Val, I second Sara's comment about you being a wonderful hostess, and Raven... *narrows eyes*... hold onto your cookie while you can. Neal: That Santa avi makes me smile. Secretly though, I can't wait until Spring to see if you show up as the Easter Bunny as well. Coby: OMG cuteness!!! I especially love the school pic. :heart:
  10. GIMP is a free image editing program that lots of people use, and you can find tons of beginner tutorials online; either textual or video on YouTube. Otherwise Photoshop is the way to go.
  11. Personally I see no issue with post-processed photos. Ruling out the use of editing limits your choice of winners to the people with the best hardware to run the best graphics on their machines, while leaving it open gives access to SLers who have skill in both taking the shot, cleaning it up and (where applicable) adding their own creativity. It depends what the contest is for. If it's something cosmetic like a skin-store they'll often state they'll only accept entries with minimal editing, for the obvious reason that the photo should clearly show the product without too much over-enhancement. If it's something more open-ended such as a winter-themed contest though, why stifle anyone's creativity?
  12. Saraya Starr wrote: Aww you are so welcome and I love the Sar-sar name I think I shall call you, and you should know this is coming Ko-ko :heart: Koko... puff? Koko.. nut? Uhm... hot koko? :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2: :matte-motes-big-grin-squint: I hope I get to pounce you at Val's breakfast tomorrow! :heart:
  13. SinfulPrince wrote: WOW. And you filmed that in second life? Blush, yes it's all done in SL. I had to tear up my house and build sets on my tiny 1/4 homestead, which is why all of the shots are in small spaces. I usually get stressed-out having to direct people and film, but the police-car scenes were actually really fun.
  14. Val! You already have the most essential part of machinima down, which is to make something that looks gorgeous. :} The windlight and location (not to mention the model) are beautiful, and for a first attempt it's beyond impressive. Can I suggest one thing that might help you? If you'd like your camera to not be so jerky you can go into debug settings and change the values in CameraPositionSmoothing and ZoomTime. The higher you set the values, the slower and smoother your camera will move, and you can get some really beautiful shots. I do own a SpaceNavigator which makes camming much easier in SL, but I still do find key-camming to be more accurate for certain things. I think you're a natural at this and I can't wait to see the things you create. :heart:
  15. Hippie Bowman wrote: Kobuk Farshore wrote: I'm crossposting this from the Bad Girls thread because it's already fallen halfway down the board. :smileysad: I don't have the chance to film machinima often so I get overly excited to finish one! It does contain some violence, just as a warning. OMG that is so good! Love all about it! The timing and fades with the music and the message! WOW! Peace! Hippie! You always make me smile, thank you. I do love editing, and I do love being ninja-sneaky and overcoming all the issues SL tries to trip me with in telling a story. I'm happy you liked it.
  16. Saraya Starr wrote: Aww hell Ko, I have to add my many many many omg's to this Machinima of yours *picks you up and hugs you* :heart: It made me tear up, I found it so very emotional. A wonderful job you have done with this *gleams at being cuddled* I feel a bit strange and lucky that people have been so lovely about it; I was fretting that everyone would focus in on the psychoticness and miss the sadness that sparked it. Thank you, Sar-sar. :heart:
  17. :heart: :heart: :heart: :heart: !!! I love you too, silly-- I'm so excited for you right now!
  18. valerie Inshan wrote: Jesus, Mary Joseph and the Holy Cow!!!! Think I made it!!!!! Wooohoo!!! Ohmahgah YAYYYYY!!!! So so so pretty. I feel like a proud parent LOL! Go make beautiful films. :}
  19. Haha, does this mean you're gonna be filming our antics at your Xmas breakfast on Sunday? :matte-motes-agape: :matte-motes-grin: Best behaviour, everyone!
  20. Coby Foden wrote: Kobuk, that is the most amazing machinima. Superb work. Wow! :matte-motes-smile: *goes a deeper shade of scarlet* :matte-motes-bashful-cute: Thank you as well, Coby. :}
  21. UncommonTruth wrote: Ko~ Wow! I have no idea what the story there was, but it was heartwrenching! Wonderful wonderful job with it! That is the most beautiful mechima work I've seen ever. :heart: Thank you, Kylan! This is the first machinima I've made specifically for a RL event in which 95% of the people probably have no idea what SL is. Ha? Fortunately they all will know the story that this film is very loosely based on, so it'll make more sense there. I can imagine that it's a bit bewildering to anyone watching it cold, which is why makes me that much more grateful that you liked it.
  22. Awwww, Nim-- thank you so much. SL is a sort of fascinating medium for making films in that it feels both limitless and incredibly limiting, and working between the two is a test of creativity. I have a lot of fun doing it though, and it makes me gleam to hear that anyone actually does enjoy the end result. Thank you for your words. :}
  23. madam Martian wrote: I gotta fess up...... I sneak in here to this thread nearly each day, :matte-motes-bashful-cute: just to see the amazing shot you guys post... My partner and I spend most our time working and chatting to each other while working, so we ended up removing our house a while ago to save the prims and since we never had time to use it. But seeing your pictures made me miss our home, so now my house is back, on the picture out in the left side is our memorial place. We made it because we have lost 3 amazing friends during the years we have been here in SL.. :matte-motes-crying: But now I can look out the window from my livingroom and see where my sister lays to rest her SLsoul... The house still needs lots of work as we only just got it set up so it looks pretty simple still, but my cats are happy now its so cold outside that they can go inside where its warm and nice, and lay by the fire.. So a big thank you to you guys for making me miss my home so much that I got it back.. Hugs from Lis and the kittycats :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: The Memorial place Aww, welcome home, Lis. Your place looks wonderful (that's a huge house!) and the memorial area is sweet. I agree that it's lovely to have a home to log in to instead of a mess of sandbox space; I end up group-selecting everything on my land and grabbing it up into my inventory pretty often so I can use prims to build. Also, congratulations on coming out of lurking on the thread. :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2: We're not so scary, huh?
  24. Is it this snowman? Gail and I are definitely planning to be there on Sunday. How could we pass up the chance to eat eclairs and macarons for breakfast with such a lovely hostess? :} And yeah, CM is certainly not the best capture software, but it's free and so okay just to play around with. If you do end up wanting to film anything and you have questions, I'd be more than happy to try to help. :} Sometimes short, simple machinima can be much more impressive than my tangled messes. Besides that though, you have such an eye for detail and are much more creative than you pretend (*waves a hand at your beautiful decorating skills!*) so you can't tell me you wouldn't make pretty machinima.
  25. Gah, if you can use FCP you're already way ahead of me! I'd love to see what you would film. I own Adobe Premier but, unlike Photoshop, for some reason I haven't yet found any motivation to learn it. I use iMovie; it's simple and intuitive. For recording I use Snapz Pro on Mac and Fraps on PC, though I started out using Mac freeware software called Capture Me which was okay. Its issues were that it only recorded up to one minute at a time, and it seemed to wait patiently until I was in the middle of an amazing shot that I would never-again be able to re-create, before crashing. Oh, Gail also told me she uses ScreenFlow on her Mac and that it works really well. *gives you that sweet puppy-eyed look she learned from Bo, wanting quite a lot to see you film something* :heart:
