How To Stop A video From Being Played In My Club

I am the Manager of a club.  We have a TV that you can play youtube videos on.

I get sooooo many complaint IM's from my guests, because we have one guest who insisits on playing a video with a hard rock song with lots of swearing in it.  The song itself carries a good strong message about knowing who you are as a woman - but it has this chorus of screamed swearing that my guests find offensive.

I don't want to ban the particular guest who has been with us for years, and who plays this video - but when it's left on the screen, when she leaves (despite numerous requests to not play it in my club), instead of just changing the video or stopping the stream - the other guests leave and state the video as the reason.  Its very frustrating.

The answer is probably no, but Is there a way that I can prevent certain videos from being played on the Icarus TV?

Thanks in advance

Yes I'm sorry to say it but taking the tv away is the best solution. Perhaps you could try posting a sign saying that videos with strong language are not allowed, and then chat with the person about it if they start the video again. Why would someone keep playing a video when they have been requested not to? It's very odd. She must not care about the club rules very much. If you make the rule a general "no bad lanugage" then that person won't feel targeted. Perhaps you can also somehow set the TV to play only by the owner's touch. I don't own one of those so I don't know if it is possible but I would be surprised if it isn't. Then the owner or allowed list of users can take requests and play videos they think will be well recieved.

Another thing...how long is she leaving the video on? I don't think anyone wants to hear one song on repeat. And you say it keeps going even after she leaves. Best not to let any video run more than once is my advice.

Here's a shocker- try asking them.....brace yourself......not to play that video as it upsets people.

If they ignore your polite request, then think again about having them as an admitted member. It doesnt make sense to take away the tv just because one person abuses the privelige

Thanks for the replies. I was just checking if it was possible to censor what can be played.  Kinda knew the answer, but just wanted to double check.

This person is the club drama queen and causes a lot of disputes, and trouble for me to sort out every week.....guess she's keeping me in a job, at least! Lol......but the owner says to keep her there,  so I can't do anything apart from talk to her.  As I said in my OP, she has been asked already a few times - with no success.  And sadly, she has little regard for club rules, or the people in it.  Siiigghhhssss.

She has been asked not to play that video and it is on repeat.  It drives me nuts!  It's SL for goodness sake - if I don't like something personally - I know where to turn it off.  Others aren't so pro-active.

Thanks for your time everyone!  :)

If I were you I'd remove the TV permanently. It's really not wise to have a product that any and all residents can "play with" that can and will control the media for any other resident who allows it. Many residents(mostly our of ignorance, because they really don't understand it) have media enabled by default. That means if media is playing on a parcel, and they land...it's auto-playing for them. Clubs can have their own lag issues(which I'm sure you're well aware of, I can't imagine anyone running one isn't) you don't want even more reasons for people to not like a club. I would eliminate anything that has the potential to cause even more lag-even if it is only client side. The tv continually plays it most likely because no one ever changes it. So the media just continues to play whatever was last played, over and over and over.

Aside from that, you should probably thank your lucky stars this person isn't watching porn on your tv, or at least no one has been caught doing it, if they already do. Simply having a tv others can control leaves you open to that-and that alone can get you all kinds of trouble if you're not on an sim set with that rating. I know that from experience of sharing a parcel with someone who for whatever reason decided it would be wise to watch some hot n heavy action even though the parcel wasn't set to that maturity rating, and despite being asked to either change it after it was watched or, better yet, not watch it there. Nearly got myself shut down for good and lost quite a bit of money because of complaints and it wasn't even me that did it

(my mistake was sharing the parcel.. will never make that again)

Sounds to me like the owner is the problem. From what you described, she would have been banned from any other club long ago.
