Hi!

It would be of great help to us if you would post some important information about your system and its connection to SL

Go to your viewer's top bar menus; Help - > About Firetorm and use copy/paste to post that entire page into here. (There's a convienient button at the bottom of the About Firestorm page to make the Copy bit easy). That information will reveal where you are when you use that. You could edit that out, if you would prefer to keep that private, alternatively go to somewhere else pretty harmless first!

With that set up, you really need to turn your graphics settings down.  Draw distance, unless you're out exploring mainland, is usually fine at 128 or less.  Inside busy clubs, I'm down to 32.

LOD factor, although not as big a deal, does fine between 2-3.   Make sure you have shadows OFF.  Even with my higher end laptop, having shadows on gives a huge hit to performance.

Also, under Graphics/Rendering in Preferences, check the Limit Framerate box and set the slider to around 60.

let me know if that helps

2023年7月13日午前7時42分、MRSCANDIREDBONEは次のように述べました。

突然、どこからともなくファイアストームビューアで大量のちらつきが発生し、ラップトップがプログラムをまったく取得できないように動作します

My daughter hat something similar happening some while back, her laptop used after an driver or windows update her on-board graphics card instead of the Nvidia one it was supposed to use.

Maybe this helps and I really hope you are able to resolve it quickly.

With less than 8GB RAM and very limited VRAM you are unlikely to be able to use this machine for very much longer for SecondLife. The sad reality of life is that things are getting more demanding on hardware and this machine is significantly underpowered for second life use.

There are a few things that you might want to try.

1) As @Gwin LeShelle pointed out, making sure that you have the latest stable driver for you system (this is not always the newest, and with older laptops newer drivers can cause more problems than they solve)

2) Minimise the memory demands as much as possible.

Set you graphics to Low, everything will look awful, but put up with it and see if it stabiliseand does not flicker.

You can help yourself a lot by restricting the texture size. (paste this into chat and click secondlife:///app/openfloater/preferences?search=restrict ) you'll see this preferences window like this

4f11731f65ac49060f38a7459c885806.png

make sure that the restrict max texture resolution is ticked. You'll need to restart.

If you get it stable and not flickering then you can start to increase some of thew quality settings again.

Please note though, that machine is significantly underpowered for modern SL and it is only going to get worse soon, there's nothing we can do about that really.
