Contest Boards

Does anyone in SL make a contest board that displays display names? Do they exist? If not, why.

I've looked all over SL and near as I can find are contest boards with profile pics. I have a tip jar that gives display names of tippers. Can't understand why no one has updated contest boards to show display names?

I don't know of an lsl function that will retrieve a display name or I'd hook you up. Maybe ask in the scripting section?

Someone there might know of one. I just went through the wiki and didn't see any but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist.

My guess is that contest boards do not use display names because display names are not unique so you could have two (or more) display names exactly the same displayed and no way of knowing which was which. You also have display names that use non-standard characters which the fonts used on contest boards would not be able to display at all.

How did I friggin miss that?

I just spent over an hour coming with a dialog text box script that let's people enter the name they want displayed lol.

I did find llRequestDisplayName in the dataserver list as well, after I wrote the whole script.
