Second Life Server and Events

The SLS + Events channels will be restarted on Tuesday, 2022-11-01 from 06:30 - 11:30 PDT. There will be no version change from the current version 2022-10-07.575585.

Second Life RC

We're deploying a new feature build (version 2022-10-27.576126) containing Linkset Data LSL functions on Wednesday, 2022-11-02 from 07:00-09:30 PDT.

Important Note

Like all scripts containing new LSL functions, scripts running LinksetData* calls will only run on regions running version 2022-10-27.576126 or newer. However unlike some other functions if you move an object containing Linkset Data (or teleport wearing an object containing Linkset Data) from a region that supports it to a region that does not, all Linkset Data stored with the object will be lost, even if you go back to a region that supports the feature. This limitation will no longer exist once all regions on the grid understand how to parse Linkset Data (ideally upon next week's promotion of 2022-10-27.576126 to Second Life Server and Events channels).

Are there known issues with the rolling restart? I have one of my regions stuck in limbo while the region next to it has already completed the restart even after going down later.

In addition the estate page on the website is not showing the status field and restart buttons for the estate that region is in while the other estates work fine.

RCs are being rolled back to 575585 (guessing related to the parcel settings problem)

Glad to see linsket data back to the RC sims this week, however the release notes page for this release is missing:

And the answer is... Main Channel has got 576376  so Inkset Data will be grid-wide once the restarts have completed

The main channel regions restarting today are still on 2022-11-11.576542 after the restart.

Not unexpected since there has been nothing new on the RCs for weeks.

As for Wednesday's RC roll, this info is from Inara Pey's blog post of the SUG #50 meeting

On Wednesday, December 14th, the simhosts on the RC channels should be updated with a new simulator release, marking it as the last planned simulator deployment for 2022.
This update:

• Includes the new llLinkPlaysound, llLinkStopSound llLinkAdjustSoundVolume and llLinkSoundRange functions which allow sounds in child prims of a linkset to be played without the need for a supporting script.
• Fixes the simulator to allow uploads of sound clips up to about 30 seconds.
  • This had been pitched as a Premium benefit, but according the meeting will be available to all users.

The RC regions are indeed now on 2022-12-06.577088 after the restarts.

And it would seem that this new server version is bugged in that sounds that rely on a trigger script (ie a day/night sound or a light which is only on at certain light conditions) play once (and apparently ONLY once) when an avatar TPs or logs in to a region.

Sounds definitely broken. TP'd into an RC region, and it was playing a sound over and over when it wasn't supposed to be playing.
