what the title says

Lots of ideas in this thread I started.  There really is no fast way.  You could filter things such as LMs, notecards and mass delete those but for the most part, it's a time consuming, mind numbing endeavor.

Delete everything* (with the caveats below) and start over.

  • Do not include no-copy items
  • Do not include items more than a few years old that you are VERY attached to and wear/use regularly
  • Do not include mesh items, animations or or textures that you uploaded yourself. Prim-made items are fair game though - you can rebuild them and they'll probably be better this time.

You can get redeliveries of just about everything else that you actually need and want, either through the store vendors or Marketplace.

You might think OMG No! - when you think about how much you spent on that stuff. But there really isn't any difference between "keeping it but never wearing/using it" and "deleting it and never wearing/using it".

Once you've got everything you need and want, be very meticulous about storing everything in its proper subfolder. Make subfolders of subfolders of subfolders, using whatever categories makes best sense to you.

Make it a rule to never log off with unsorted items in your inventory.

Fast... to hammer it home... use the Inventory Filters.

Select only Landmarks. Using the first landmark at the top, start typing its name into the search field. You get a list of all the same LMs. Put one in the LM folder and delete the rest. Clear search and take the next name. You can do this with several of the types of items in your inventory.

Notice there is an Older Than field. You can use it to find old things like 3,000 days and older...

If you haven't kept your inventory organized, it is going to be tedious. Or you can just indiscriminately start deleting stuff. If you don't care about cost bulk delete is good.

If you make Outfits, bulk delete is going to break a lot of Outfits.
