I can't connect to a single, specific region. All others work fine. (Not banned)

Question

Hey everyone! I've been through a bunch of channels with this problem, to no avail, so I thought I'd see if anyone here has any idea on how to fix this:

Since 2 days ago, I'm unable to connect to a single, specific sim I used to visit occasionally. I have been visiting this sim throughout the week and know for a fact nothing significant about it has changed. No access restrictions, bans, nothing. Yet for some unknown reason, I am suddenly unable to connect to it. I am not banned from this sim, I do not share an IP with someone who is, and I got manual confirmation from sim staff that nothing regarding such has happened. By all accounts, I should be able to connect no problem. Yet when I try to connect to the sim, my loading screen gets stuck on the region handshake, stops for a few seconds, then I timeout and lose connection altogether.

Here's a list of things I've tried:

  • TP in via Landmark
  • TP in via Search
  • Have a friend on that sim send a TP offer
  • TP from various different sims, wearing different outfits and group tags
  • Set the sim as my login destination (I just get a generic "Can't connect, check your internet" error message then)
  • Restarted both my PC and router multiple times
  • DNS flush via windows command line
  • Tried different viewers
  • Clean reinstall of my usual viewer
  • Tried connecting to it from a different account
  • Wore a hat on the off chance it won't recognize me

I'm really at a loss here. I don't get error or ban messages, I know other people can connect to the sim just fine. It's not a restricted sim in any way, just a regular RP sim. I have no issues connecting to or entering any other sim that I can tell.

If anyone's got any ideas on what I can try anymore, I'd really appreciate it.

Did you file a Support Case with LL?  Give them all the above information.  Except about the hat.

I have. No response so far though, so I figured I'd see if anyone on here knows something more I could try.

You said you tried connecting from a different account, but I'm not 100% sure whether that worked or failed. I'm guessing that failed, in which case you could expect to succeed if you connected your normal account through a completely different computer and network. It would be handy to have a spare computer around, hanging off the same network, to see if that worked. My hunch is that somehow your computer itself is failing to route some IP address(es) to the outside network, although your router might do that too -- and in either case, the question would be "why?"

Indeed, it didn't work. Unfortunately I also don't have a second computer laying around.

As for the IP routing, it's the only possible explanation I have, too. Wouldn't know why, either, though. Or why it only affects that one specific sim. You'd think if there's some base-level issue I wouldn't be able to connect to SL at all. I also don't have any other connection issues outside of SL. So... this is supremely weird on every front.

You might have an IP address range blocked in your Firewall or router & that regions IP is within that range.
Which region is it?
Can you get someone to go to that region & grab the IP & do a trace route to that IP?

When that region is restarted it will likely fix your problem if this is the cause.

There's are intermittent "fail to connect to sim" bugs that crop up in various contexts. This shows up as teleport fails, standing at an edge of the world and the next sim not appearing, being able to look into a sim but not walk in, and getting 10 seconds of extra delay at each sim crossing.

Is this a mainland sim? Can you go to an adjacent sim and look in?
