Just recently returned after a 5ish year long hiatus, so I am looking for some people to hang with and get to know! I like just about everything honestly. Be it clubs, ballrooms, destination crawling, etc. Also always used bloodlines so if that's still active, big bonus :)

Names Angelo Flinders, let me know if anyone wants an extra wheel!

Let's be real, there's no such thing as making friends in Secondlife or online for that matter. It's all an overrated chat room.

Just because you can't do it doesn't mean others can't

Well, 5 years away that's about 1/3 of the life of the platform, no wonder all your friends are gone, they will either have cleaned their list, stopped coming to SL or just got new accounts for what ever reason.
You can look in your inventory for calling cards, open up some profiles, see the ones you can remember and if they are still active.
Your landmarks are probably all gone too, you can try to check them out but odds are all those places are something else now.
For your inventory, I'm betting very little can still be useful, before you start getting new things make sure you keep that in check, make folders to move all your old things into so you don't mix the new with the very old.
As for Bloodlines...

It got so bad that at one you'd see in every place you land a sign warning you would be banned for using that system. You still see that now and then, although much less.
The problem is not vampire RP, the problem is that something like Bloodlines is essentially a pyramid scheme that gives an insensitive to grief others with constant bite requests.
I have heard of other similar systems that will work silently, without the people around even knowing they are being used by such communities, maybe someone that knows more about it can explain it better.

Have I got to go through this all over again?  I took great pains to explain in another recent topic an alternative view - one that comes from a Bloodlines player, not a spectator rehashing the problems of years ago, but I really have no time or energy at present to give the whole response.  I'll say this though: Bloodlines is not a pyramid scheme; that is a misuse of the term.  It is at its heart like many other games in that it encourages a player to gain points in order to rise in status (which mostly only other players will see), but that isn't compulsory.

The silent games are to me much more sinister in that the target has no say in what happens.  It's enough for a player to stand near them to collect their data.  That's about as much as I know about them or care to know.

Yes, Bloodlines is still active, though in smaller numbers.  Your old landmarks might work but just search for Bloodlines on the Map and you'll find the regions.  If you like new challenges there's an internal set of games now called Legends.  I've only just begun it but as far as I know it doesn't involve non-players at all.
