Check all the text in the descritpion as well as the title. Nobody knows what the trigger words are exactly as LL keeps it secret so nobody can game the system but look for obvious words and word combinations. Even something like "Cassidy" can trigger Adult rating because of the C---idy (letters in between).

Hello Community,

i have a problem to change Maturity from mature to general.  i have no idea why it dont work.

Its a pitty that the most important Item is set to mature but all other are general.  Its also a free item.

Maybe its cause fire make damage ?  and damage means for LL violent ?

I hope not cause every child know that it should not play with fire cause it can hurt them :D

It's way beyond my primitive comprehension as to why the word list isn't published.  It's fundamentally wrong that it only fitlers English language words anyway!

How it can be perceived as a benefit to hide it such that people just waste time dancing around picking alternates is without reason?

It might be gamed they say?  What?  That we find that "escort" is a bad word so have to find our own ways of choosing phrases like "shown a good time" or whatever else suits.

I don't understand it at all and it doesn't even affect me, I just set all my items to adult because that's what I sell.  I feel for those trying to sell non adult with this system.

Greetings,

If you have questions regarding the Maturity Ratings please see the Second Life Marketplace Listing Guidelines, located here:

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/listing_guidelines

General Maturity Rated content is acceptable for everyone, including minors.

Moderate Maturity Rated content is for Second Life Users who are 18+ years of age.

Adult Maturity Rated Content is for Second Life Users who are over 18+ uears of age who which to engage in overly sexual or violent activities.

If your product listing is changed by the system to Moderate or Adult based on the type of product or the usage of specific keywords then you should review your listing to determine who your target buyers are.

If you are placing an Adult word into your listings are you really trying to target the product to a 16 year old? And if so, why?

The word 'escort' has been mentioned in this thread.

For those who do not understand why a word of that type would be considered Moderate or Adult please ask yourself if you really want to sell escort items to a 16 year old.

When my daughter was 13, I acted as her escort to a school sponsored dinner at a local upscale Japanese restaurant. It was her first time at a public function like that and she was proud as punch. (Although she did complain that nylons and dresses were horrid and should be outlawed. LOL)

My nickname at a previous job was "The Citizen" .. earned because I always err on the side of caution. (Actually, it was because I have this habit of picking up other people's litter and coming to a full stop at Stop signs, but it's a lifestyle not a dysfunction.) At any rate, I am with you 100% when it comes to taking a path that, should a failure occur, said failure will not result in a worse situation.

However, choosing a path of malfunction on purpose and then further crippling the process by hiding crucial information does not qualify as such a situation. The word in question .. "Escort" .. has many more common uses with no adult-oriented meanings than otherwise. It is only in the limited scope of Second Life that the term has taken on a color of sexualiity.

Nevertheless, the fact that the word list is kept secret and no indication is given as to which words can trigger an automatic Adult rating is user-abusive. This is tantamount to jabbing someone with a cattle prod, over and over again, with no rhyme nor reason behind the jabs. The two examples I gave clearly show that there are perfectly innocent uses for that term, and anyone not already aware of the word's presence on the list would be impossibly challenged to identify it as THE word causing the problem.

I agree, it is marginally acceptable to include the word "Escort" on the list. However it is not the least bit acceptable to hide the reason for the automatic rating from the user.

The word list is probably a moving target, and they're under no obligation to share it.

At worst, it's an inconvenience. This could be solved by building in some pre-screening of the listing with a simple message "your listing contains unacceptable text, please modify your listing before you continue".

Maybe pop that in a Jira rather than turn it into a debate, and be patient for about 3 months, while other items on a long TODO list gets knocked out.

Since that is your idea of how to resolve the situation, please go ahead and "Contribute to the Community" by creating that JIRA. (Unless you find such efforts to be wasteful of your time and intelligence.)

I'm selling general maturity items on the marketplace and without knowing why some items were changed to Moderate. So I asked for help to a Linden, but he didn't help. Then I tried to remove keywords, and paragraph by paragraph in the description text. So here is the paragraph that changed my items from General to Moderate:

"The fan attaches to your left hand. The fanning animation is in priority 4, so it's made to override your AOs in priority 3. The fans are scripted to restart the animation after you teleport."

When I put this text, the marketplace tells me:

"Successfully updated, but the text in the description field forced a change in the maturity level"

English is not my native language but I don't see one word in that description that could make think of anything Moderate or Adult here. If anyone has an idea, please let me know

Yes Perrie! And the winner word to change my items maturity level from General to Moderate was.... drumroll....

"AOs" !!!

Like Animation Overriders, very common word in SL, most clients even have a build in version of AOs. Now I know it's a naughty word, I won't use it again, sorry LL (>as Linden Lab, don't go think I meant something else here)

It must somehow be too close to the acronym POS, which more aptly describes the word filters.
