Kylie Jaxxon
Hello all Why is it that every time I rez a box or an object, the front of it is facing backward to me? I always have to zoom around to the front to see what it looks like, ugh...is there a setting somewhere that corrects this? I've looked through preferences and didn't see anything. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated
Rolig Loon
You're standing on the wrong side. 🤣 1
Rolig Loon
Seriously, though, when you rez a new prim, it is always rezzed with ZERO_ROTATION, meaning that it aligns with the regional grid so that its East side faces east. If you turn around and rez another prim, it will be rezzed in the same orientation, but you will be facing the "back" side of that one. Similarly, if you rez an object from your inventory, it will always be rezzed with the same orientation (relative to the regional grid) that it had when you took it to your inventory. So, if it was facing southwest before you picked it up, it will still be facing southwest when you rez it next time, regardless of which way YOU are facing. 2
Madelaine McMasters
Hmm. Objects rez pointing in the same direction as when they were taken into inventory, similar to how attachments rez in the same orientation they had when last removed. When unpacking something made by someone else, it'll rez pointing in whatever direction it was when they created it. If you change the orientation after rezzing, then take it back, it'll keep your new orientation at the next rez. If you have a favorite rez spot where you fiddle with things while facing a particular direction (as you might if unpacking boxes in your home), turn them to face you before taking them back into inventory. The next time you rez them, they'll be facing you. As an experiment, rez a copy object, turn yourself 180 degrees and rez another. Both things should be facing the same direction. If they're facing opposite directions... run!!! Edited December 2, 2018 by Madelaine McMasters 3

Maitimo
They will always be oriented in the same direction they were made by the creator and taken into his or her inventory. If you rotate it and take it back into inventory (as a new copy), that new version will always face the same direction you rotated it to. 1
Arduenn Schwartzman
23 hours ago, Kylie Jaxxon said: Why is it that every time I rez a box or an object, the front of it is facing backward to me? Because, every time, it's you who are facing the wrong side of the box when you rez it. So here's the solution: every time you plan to rez something, make your avatar take a 180-degree turn first. You're welcome. Edited December 2, 2018 by Arduenn Schwartzman
