KeliaHomen
Hello, We are actually (some friends scripters and me) trying to define a way to work together, find new customers and be able to deliver more reliable codes in shortest time. Team is the key !!! So we are looking for all opportunities to get customers or new project and an idea came out : Would there be any interest in making a 'kickstarter' like for some SL projects? So I would like to get your feedback about this idea. Thx
Paul Hexem
SL doesn't really work like that. Products created in SL don't have the up front costs that go into manufacturing and shipping like in RL.
Elle74 Zaftig
So you want strangers to pay you to start a company up? What? As Gadget said, there are no start up costs in SL. No overhead. Only costs incurred are uploading fees for textures, but since you guys are doing scripts, you can write all those in-game. Any other cost is land, but you don't have to have a store right at the start.
KeliaHomen
We were more thinking about something multiple people would like but is not available or to expensive for each to request to be done. Then they could pay a part of it, less than the price the final product could be sold for others. But maybe SL is not designed or oriented like that. It could be possible for some kinda animesh breedable integrated with some kinda roleplay game. Investors get some kinda rare products that others don't

It's become habit in SL for everyone to build everything themselves, but getting a team together and actually paying them lets you churn out products much more efficiently. This is important when you start into complex projects like games since many skill sets are needed and frequent updates expected in order to keep users engaged. Are you talking about some sort of work on commission for a group rather than an individual? Finding this group of like-minded people who want the same scripted product (or close variants) could be tricky, especially if you're looking at niche, under-served markets. Do you or any of your co-workers have an established reputation or portfolio in SL yet? To be frank, I suspect that the best and easiest way of finding that group of like-minded people who want the same product is to just make it, put it on Marketplace and/or inworld and set about finding ways to market it. Commissions might come from that if your work is good. Edited July 4, 2018 by Bitsy Buccaneer oh pfft. didn't see it was a necro. and since we can't delete, i may as well leave it :)
