I don't know of a good way.  You should only receive one if you friend a new person or if someone hands you a card instead of accepting friendship.  You shouldn't ever get duplicates, so I'm a little surprised that you have gotten hundreds back.  Frankly, though, I have almost never deleted a calling card in my 9 years here, and I don't have "thousands", so I can't say that I have ever run into this problem.

You can't delete the calling cards that are the cards of people on your friends list.  That's why they came back. 

You can get duplicate cards if you drop a friend and then refriend them.

i have the same, not hundreds but about ten each it's something technical

somtimes i delete all except one, but i know they will be back....

it doesn't do anything else as far i know, so i can live with it

Those pesky duplicates should be a thing of the past.
