Its been mentioned somewhere but I think we should say its more than "just a game" depending on how to treat it right? If people are in for the socializing aspect where there are no goals, no monsters to kill, but to shop and chat, then maybe to them, it's just a glorified chat room. if designers are in only to make money or bring out concepts they have thought of to an environment, then its just sort of a hobby or job for them. if people sign up for RP, want to gain levels, battle others and moonsters, and adult dating simulation mmo, then sure it can be labeled as a game. it might be just how its treated by the user. OH! and pie!!
Amethyst Jetaime
If you are running into ban lines, the owner of the property doesn't want you on their property. They pay for it so they get to say who is allowed on it per the TOS. 4.8 “Virtual Land" is Inworld space that we license. You may permit or deny other users to access your Virtual Land on terms determined by you. Any agreement you make with other users relating to use or access to your Virtual Land must be consistent with these Terms of Service, and no such agreement can abrogate, nullify, void or modify these Terms of Service. Contrary to what a lot of people believe, you are not entitled to go anyplace you want to. I imagine that the stargate you used incorrectly lands you on someones private property and they don't want random people on it. You should contact the owner of the stargate and tell them what happened so they can correct the landing point when someone TPs.

HarrisonMcKenzie
Does that mean that Minecraft isn't a game? It doesn't have a central goal, and you can go the entire time without fighting a monster. What about Star Wars Galaxies? It's also a sandbox virtual experience with almost an entirly user-content generated economy. Plus you can do whatever you want in it, from fighting monsters to dancing or being a doctor for a living.
