Question

My old account name on second life is "Scotty Doomdale." Three years ago, I was banned for being underaged (13) on the teen grid, I am now 16, and I recieved this email from you guys:

"

Dear Scotty,

Happy 16th Birthday! We've missed you -- and because you recently turned 16, we wanted to welcome you back.

Please rest assured that we've held onto all of your inventory and relationships, so your Second Life experience is waiting for your return. There is a whole world for you to explore, with thousands of exciting locations -- check out the Destination Guide. Make new friends and find new things to do and places to visit. You can even jump back in with a new look by shopping for a complete avatar on SL Marketplace.

Since it has been awhile, you may have forgotten your password, but that's easy to fix! If you go to our Support page you can put in your other account information and we will reset your password for you.

Lastly, please be sure to look at our Online Safety Tips before coming back into Second Life. Welcome back, and see you inworld!

Best,

Does this meen I am free to play again? Because when I redownloaded the SL viewer, it tells me exactly this,
"Login Failed
Second Life cannot be accessed from this computer.
If you feel this is an errror, please contact
support@secondlife.com"

So... im pretty confused here because the email seems to me like its saying its welcoming me back to the SL community because im am now the allow age for the teen grid, but when I try to get on, I cant because I am permanantly blocked from second life. PLEASE HELP!

I believe that message means that your current computers IP address is banned, as they change frequently on domestic internet connections there is a good chance that could have been left there by another resident using your current IP address when they were banned.

That said this is a resident supported forum so we have no access to check your account directly or to see if your IP address has been blocked, please follow the instructions in the email and contact the support@secondlife.com address they should be able to investigate for you.  The fact that your account lets you log in here makes me think it could be that you have had the misfortune to be on an IP someone got blacklisted as an account ban blocks website access too I *think*

Try turning your internet router off at the wall and back on again on 99% of home connections that will cause your IP address to change see if that helps though if the subnet is banned or your IP is static it wont help and you will need to see what support says.

I find the whole realm of sl to be seriously messed up. There is WAY too much child avi disguting behavior going on. SL needs to seroiusly take a look at thier policies and figure out a better way before the whole syetem gets shut down. I have seen so many dirty disgusting things going on i am aphauled! I cant believe that they allow this behavior to go on. there needs to be more rules about child avis and teens or else this will be the end of SL. Child pornogaphy is not at all funny to me or a game, i think that it is aphauling to let this go on without doing something. This is like a bad episode of to catch a preditor without the interesting commercials. SL DO SOMETHInG NOW!! No stars

But "the whole realm of SL" is not seriously messed up - this is just your current perception of it. You have obviously become aware of something very seedy and unacceptable.

There are rules in place in Second Life, but Linden Lab people cannot have their eyes and ears absolutely everywhere in world, so every time YOU see something unacceptable, please submit an Abuse Report. Back it up with screenshots, any chatlogs, etc.

You can also send hard copies to their head office in Battery Street. And give hard copies to your real life law enforcement agencies.

No one person can change the world, or fix what is wrong in it - virtual OR real - but if everyone takes responsibility for their own little corner of it, the world can become a better and safer place.
