  1. While waiting for more 1024 Newbrooke parcels to be available, I set myself the challenge of decorating a Denver house in a quasi-minimalist style with only 175 LI. I have to admit that the result isn't somewhere in SL or RL that I would ever consider as a long-term home - I find interiors like this too impersonal (though they are beloved by architect friends of mine). But, that impersonal nature immediately suggested an AirBNB. (Yes, the kitchen is bare, but the one AirBNB flat I stayed in had a huge amount of kitchen storage, and *everything* was hidden behind cupboard doors when we arrived.) I could have eked out another 3-4 LI if I'd linked more stuff...
  2. No, it's not possible to specify a region, and regardless of the house you see on any individual Stilt parcel when you claim it, you can choose any of the Stilt models once you go to that parcel inworld by clicking on the house controller/lightpost in the water or on the road or pier in front of the house.
  3. ************************************* This is the link to use - log in with any account that does not already have a Linden Home, Premium or Basic: https://land.secondlife.com/en-US/lindenhomes/land-selection.php ************************************* I have it bookmarked in a browser that I don't usually use.
  4. Parcels in all 12 of the new regions still have "Protected Land" status.
  5. More plants - TM Creations has another of their plant arrangements on sale for only $60. Yes, as shown this is 16 LI, but you can unlink and use the individual bits as you wish. Very good value! (I've used some of TM's plants from other arrangements at my WIP Newbrook, mixed in with climbing spiraea from Heart.) Edit: Actually this week’s sale item has far more LI than others I’ve bought. This one is only 6 LI, and was the source for most of the plants shown in my containers - it’s No Copy, but for that price it’s worth buying two if you want to use the linked version as well: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/M13-Tropical-Garden-Plants-Flowers-Bush-Rocks-Arrangement-MT/10048585
  6. Trees are also on sale at Dysfunctionality. The Whispy [sic] Twinkle Trees (low LI and really good LODs) have lots of options, including foliage and bark color, movement/no movement, twinkle/no twinkle. They blend in well with the Newbrooke trees. Just $50.
  7. There's lots of stuff on sale now for fantasy/forest fans at Love Superstore. The LODs by-the-numbers may not be great, but those tree stumps with fairies look pretty good to me at a reasonable distance.
  8. What a great bit of trivia! Must squirrel it away for whenever it appears as a question on University Challenge!
  9. There are 12 new Newbrooke regions on the map that haven’t been released at all, so probably another 200 or so 1024 parcels to come in the near future, with a likelihood of more later.
  10. There is also a slight chance that your home’s region was offline when you tried to teleport there.
  11. If being logged into SL inworld were a prerequisite for claiming a parcel (as it is for abandoning one) your theory would be more plausible. But, the two logins are independent of one another, just as logging into the SL home page and logging into the forums are independent of each other. There is no reason to believe that the Land Page knows where your avatar is, much less that it uses such information to match you with a particular region, let alone a particular parcel.
  12. And how, precisely, do you suppose all the hundreds/thousands of account-holders whose avatars aren’t inworld when they click on the Land Page manage to acquire homes? If you’re getting the same parcel, wait a bit before claiming the next one and the odds of getting a different parcel will improve. Monitoring the parcel you’ve just abandoned to see that it has been claimed is also advisable, particularly when a theme is scarce.
  13. There are 12 WIP Newbrooke regions on the map at the moment.
  14. So that will let us see just how long the map does take to update - thanks!
  15. So, I’m guessing that when ‘the system’ doesn’t allow an object to be rezzed it can’t distinguish between incorrect ‘ownership’ of the parcel and general mesh idiosyncrasies as the issue? Because if the ownership/permissions issue does trigger the problem separately from those idiosyncrasies, surely a more useful error message could be given in the latter case? (Granted, my own coding background in elearning was minimal compared to what’s involved in a place like SL, but a major tenet of our work was “give the user useful and appropriate feedback for the choices/mistakes they’ve made”.) I’ll carry on with the workarounds (and suppress my inclination to be annoyed with this particular theme), but can only wonder about the frustration level of the many users who never look at the forums.
  16. But isn’t the terraformed land outside also mesh? It’s never happened out of the house.
  17. Guess I’ve been extraordinarily lucky - 2 trads, 2 campers, 6 Vics, 2 stilts and a log over the last 2+ years and never experienced more than an occasional glitch in any of them. (Though in the last few months my trad in Innside has developed the annoying habit of placing objects *under* the house.)
  18. Nope to all 3. Example: a bookcase in the middle of an otherwise empty room on the bare Newbrooke floor. Tried several times on different spots in the same room; was finally successful on the 4th attempt. (Maybe I should’ve marked that ‘magic’ spot with an X!)
  19. Yes, now that I think of it, the successful indoors rezzes have been stuff on the walls. As this doesn’t happen with other themes, surely there’s a coding error somewhere that can be fixed? Think how many frustrated users there must be who don’t look at the forums for advice!
  20. I’ve been getting this with half my attempts to rez items in both my Newbrooke homes, and also find that most often when I *can* rez something indoors it winds up near the roof or in the next room. Have pretty much given up rezzing stuff inside, resorting to opening/rezzing objects on the ground outside instead. (Yes, I’ve been wearing the correct group tag.)
