  1. Oh the Valleyside Pool is nice, it has gardens on either side, and the back is terraced with cafe tables above a rocky cliffside leading to a river/inlet.
  2. Lol, the one on Holliday was mine - it was a script error in the mailbox that removed my house so I camped while it was resolved. All fixed!

  4. I'm loving the cute traditional style homes, but I'm also hoping the new area will have some modern ones as I could see myself moving back and forth between them when wanting a certain look for a while. I hope my excitement over my new home arrangement lasts and isn't just a manic reaction to living off the platform for the first time in years.🤣
  5. @Patch Linden This is exactly why we need areas like this. This is making people who might be more inclusive to start interacting with others in a way we would in real life. It's more interactive. We're exploring our own living area, we're talking to people outside of our own insular network, without the craziness of hubs, or feeling uncomfortable in a roleplaying community when new, or small talk at a club. You can break down a small social wall here easier. I stopped to watch some people RP a "Cops" type show complete with police chase, a talking horse officer, and camera crew. Ended up giving a statement to the officers. I don't rp inworld, I don't have time for extensive immersion into an RP sim, etc, but I can rp a little here and it's more natural and realistic and fun without some huge backstory. I'm just me, at home, or on my bike, and saw some stuff. Simple. I don't have to be involved, but if inspired I could be, and then I am on my way again. Creating more interactive areas would be a benefit I think for retention. Also, omg please restrict sounds to the parcel, I don't have anything making noise on mine currently but gonna toggle that when I get in tonight as a courtesy in case I install something annoying, or decide that my Harlem Shake gestures are amusing again.
  6. It would be nice, especially if there could be a proper long autumn, and a mini winter (Dec - mid Jan). But like @Chic Aeon said, it would need to be a lot of scripted landscaping and that all leads to lag. Swapping out terrain textures would be easy, a pain maybe, but whatever. The landscaping could all be sim wide hud controlled for the moles, but again lag. I would be all for it, especially a long progressive autumn with mini winter. There are plenty of inworld creators that make some lovely fall textures that they could be inspired by. But then you also have the issue with not everyone wants that or even wants to swap out their own landscaping to be on board, so you are going to end up with a wintery sim and cherry trees in bloom and palms.
  7. @Zoya McDonnagh - Yes, exactly a little pier area with a carnival, and one inland too!
  8. I would like to see a city center with a small town feel to include: cafes bakery grocers farmers market ice cream shop candy shop record shop karaoke bar internet cafe ballet studio yoga studio gym skate park basketball small softball field small rugby field city center park with a bandstand gas station/car rez bike rental/rez putt putt There are a million things they could include, but make it a fun, pretty, interactive space for people to meet, hang out, rp, photograph. A wider boardwalk with beaches and ocean on the coasts would be nice. I would like to be able to have timed rezzing at parks, so I can pull out a bbq, picnic blankets, games for an hour or so. Even if I have to join a special group for premium residents this would be a nice feature. **Most importantly, to have some moles do a walkthrough of each region and see where they can spruce up a bit more. Some regions have more plants, walls, rocks, etc that others do. I'm not asking for cookie cutter uniformity but more attention given to each area. Some areas on the east coast, have walls/fences on the front of properties that the resident didn't have to put out and take up their parcel LI. Also on the east coast, I noticed some even have different plants and even topiaries on steps leading to houses. Southwest beachy regions have a nice amount of rocks, trees, and grasses, but to the northwest the same beachy sims have a bit less. Many of the inner regions hardly have any additional touches, a few are prettily heavily treed or the trees seem larger giving it a different feel, but some regions just our house and trees. The park across from my house overlooks the ocean, it would be a place where people would gather to watch sunsets in RL. Why not add more than one bench. Other pools have gardens and terraced areas with cafe tables, I think my park could have some more benches...and bushes. Double check that region border terrains match up. For some reason my parcel which backs up to another region and they both have the same terrain but there a sandy line right on the parcel/region edge. They're the same elevation, so not sure what the issue is, but I'm considering a support ticket, but want to confirm the same glitch with a few friends first.
  9. Lies and propaganda from down under, I say! So in theory, ya'll are having fall colored easter candy? you trolling me bro?
  10. LOL Welcome to Second Life, I remember my new resident days as being greifed quite often. A few tips: 1. Find a "safe' sandbox to do your building, and unboxing etc until you find a place to live where you can hang out in peace. Some sandboxes provide a monitor that will remove people who are being disruptive. Some sandboxes have a special group so only those in the group can rez objects on the land, or run scripts. 2. Be aware of land settings, At the top of your screen are icons that let you know what can and can't happen on a parcel. Rezing objects, running scripts, flying. 3. If being griefed you have the ability to teleport away. It's intrusive to what you were doing, yes, but that is an option. Sitting on an object can help keep someone using a scripted item from moving you. (if they don't own, or have rights to mod/move the item. I've found over time, I am greifed less and less. Cheer up, back in the day, we used to get 'orbited' and that would set you up over 18,000 meters in the air.
  11. In the northern hemisphere we tend to see pastels featured in the spring lines of clothes, whites and brights in the summer, rich foliage matching tones in the fall, and dark, somber colors, but sometimes playful jewel tones in the winter. But I have always wondered, does this run the same in the southern hemisphere? Is it a cultural ideal? When we live in a global community and are exposed to media from around the world, does that influence out of seasonal color palettes? How does your culture express the seasons in fashion? For those in the southern hemisphere do you feel color influenced by the northern hemisphere seasons in real life?
  12. Yes, the amazing boots designers make, the cozy acessories, like scarves, it's all so alluring, can't help but get you into the seasonal swing. Oh and locations, like Tempura.
  13. Today I was featured on the Fresh Fashion event Second Life Community Blogs with a post on Spring Fashion. What's your favorite season inworld. Do you follow the season inworld by dressing to suit? I love autumn and winter inworld, my real life is based in tropical Florida, so I really miss these seasons, and take advantage of them inworld. I also like a more northernly spring and summer as well.
  14. I disagree with your assessment, but that's OK, everyone has a different style. I thought the looks showcased by Chance, were fashion forward, and were great spring looks. I love his nautical look definately a cute look for a date on the lake, and a private picnic on a little island somewhere. Perrie Juran, do you have some spring fashionable looks you would like to share, too? I don't understand the title of this topic thread, perhaps I missed something? Is there a celebrity look blog challenge?
  15. /me runs away from the Fluffeh & Berry love....ew ew ew kissee faces.
  16. I'm with you on not being able to get on the bandwagon of having a completely "mesh avatar". I do enjoy being able to wear a complete avatar either prim or mesh every once in a while like my table avatar or my mesh bunny from Beetlebones. Like Ceera Murakami points out until there are more options for customizing, people might not embrace mesh avatars outside of casual use. But we can hope, that will soon be remedied.
  17. Hiya! Looking good up there! :matte-motes-wink-tongue: When I am doing location shots, I like to use a variety of resources to choose from: Flickr : There are tons of groups from Second Life - Landscapes to Xploring Second Life to help me choose the perfect location. More flickr groups are posted on the Travel Blogs section of Blogging Second Life listed below. Second Life - Search - Destination Guide: Great advertised places to explore, and photograph. Second Life - Search: General searching various keywords for things I am looking for can turn up hidden corners of the grid. It can take a bit of teleporting around, and then rezzing, but worth it if you find that perfect place out of 50. Blogs: When am reading blogs, and notice the photos were shot on location I try to take notes of places to explore later if the blogger mentions the location. Notable blogs to find locations inworld are travel blogs featured on Blogging Second Life.
  18. Miawamatsuda, products and services in world are paid for with in world currency, either earned from a residents in world job or business or you can exchange real life currency for in world currency on the Second Life website to use to create a unique look/avatar, purchase land, buy a home, furnishings etc. Many stores do have promotional items which are free or at a low cost for new residents, and Linden Labs also features many default avatars to get you started.
  19. For a list of the items worn check out her blog post at http://www.slyummies.blogspot.com/2012/03/alena-lily-barbara.html
  20. Good textures, realistic. Variety of colors, patterns, textures, trims, styles. Vital is good layer work.
  21. Yep...two eyes, two arms, two ears...belly button...2 legs...well until I put the mermaid tail on...but my momma always said I was pratically a fish.
  22. I really think Eve makes a great point about cakes and eggs. I really don't care if they bought a template. However, I am more likely to wear an item that is based off a template if its MORE then a template that consisted of an alpha mask, and someone is slapping that and a swatch of fabric inworld. Use a template as a learning tool. Take it into photoshop, play with creating fabrics, patterns, or using purchased textures to create something. Once you learn get used to it, add or subtract from it. Look at how that template was made, practise making hems, pockets, shadows, shading, highlights. Begin to customise it, eventually develop your own set of tools and ditch the templates. I am willing to grow with you as a customer.
  23. Yes, I think so! I find that even my daughter has learned this skills. She's always checking out my blog pictures, and talking with me about photoshop. We both check out tutorials, and are always learning new things. I apply this to my personal digitial scrapbooking, photography, and various other projects. So many people started out in Second Life, never having done more then cropped a photo in an image program, and are now able to make sculpts, and now have the ability to do mesh. That's what I love, you can explore, and try new things, and not just things limited to Second Life. You can develop new interests, behavior, even improve your self esteem, or find companionship.
  24. Modifying clothes, and determining the difference between shape and skin, and understanding how they can work against or for each other. Many times I bought a skin disappointed when really it was my shape that was creating the problem. I remember once, I wanted to go to a Digit Darkes fashion show, and was trying to dress for it. My skirt needed fitting and I couldn't for the life of me work it out, finally my guy friend logged on as me, so he could mod my skirt. I was able to make the show, but spent a good week parked at a sand box with my friend learning how to mod my clothing afterwards.
