I can understand why creators might want to avoid youtube, as some of their ways of working can be actively injurious to the mental health of creators , but bitchute has a terrible reputation for hosting extreme right wing videos so despite loving star trek I am also not clicking that link.

We can not go with every type of modern or mid-modern home style out there. We choose modern container homes with aesthetically asynchronous traditional drywall interiors, some architectural embellishments, and natural materials. There are 3 exterior material types with 9 colors present each.
I'm going with the 'aesthetically asynchronous' explanation the next time I burn the dinner.

If youre going to be living in a house, why does anyone need a LOD of 4? How far away do you plan on camming while sitting in your livingroom?
I guess it isn't what you are looking at, more that others will be viewing your house from the street, or from their own plot.
This is the problem with some addons, that they don't have enough stability to support the street scene, and you end up looking at messy triangles on neighbouring plots.- 6

I love the option of bold colors and the black brick. Boring beige/gray is still available for those who don't want any color. Both the chalets and the fantasy homes have exterior colors that barely change between the options. I'm glad the neighborhood won't just be beige/gray tones like the last 2 themes.
If I were to choose a neutral, and my neighbours went for shrieky pink (trademark) then I'm not sure what the benefit to me would be, of choosing the neutral? Unless I went derender mad to the point of extinguishing the whole street?
I actually liked the multi-colours in the traditionals, and I totally agree that many of the exterior colour schemes of previous builds have been a bit lacking, particularly the cabins.
It's a weird thing not knowing what these were meant to look like, I read them as minimal 'modern homes' during my first visit. If they are really meant to be container homes then some more fitting exterior textures would tell that story in a more satisfying way.
In the end they will be Linden homes, with a name that probably doesn't really describe the style to anyone whose name does not begin with P.

Please.. please! No these colors. I don't understand who would want this much colors on MODERN neighborhood... or colors even at all 😭 It really took all the clean, modern and elegance away. If the colors really have to stay there, please break them with grey tone more. Way too bright and strong colors.
I am a huge fan of Modern architecture and there just doesn't fit colors like that.
I give you a palette of colors for example what are well mixed with grey tone. Hope so this helps!
This just made me so sad but seems it please everyone else... 😢I totally get it, these colours don't work for this style, for me anyway.
I'm not anti-colour, but this hurts my head.- 1

I think I need to volunteer for a Patch anti-focus group. (the Patch distraction collective?)
I loved the white minimalism.
The colours seem to change the feel, and not in a good way
Aaah well, if someone wants to make a thatched roof mod for these at least I won't be upset now.- 2

People will definitely Frankenhouse. Have you seen the trad-vics? Monstrosity.
I'm not sure, maybe I am better shielding my eyes after the house on water houseboat conversions trauma.

@Prokofy Neva 'responding to feedback' is just a phrase that Patch uses, it doesn't mean what you think it means, ie it doesn't mean what you would mean if you said it.
I hope this feedback is meaningful as the word meaning has lost all meaning to me now after all the repetition.- 4

To me, these look better on the reveal than they do in the screen captures. I like the minimalist look of the region decor.
Having a mix of plot sizes seems to help with creating variety in the layout.
The interiors feel somewhat at odds with the exterior, but they are fairy neutral, so could probably be changed to suit.
I really like the boundary treatments, fences and walls.
I could see myself getting one of these, when things get quieter.- 2

@Matilda Melune just gorgeous!
@Marianne Little what a cosy looking home. You have much more inspiration than me, I have been renting ready furnished places lately- 3

Looks like someone is packing up for a big move!
Well, I had thought that Patch and the brick were ancient enemies, so this is a surprise.
Unless that is more wood on the outside of the home in the background?

It's everywhere in the UK, and nobody here even knows what it's about. If we ever start eating turkeys on a special day in November I'm going to hide.
I've found that it is quite safe to ignore this event.
I am currently looking for a browser extension which will ignore it for me and so save the mental effort.- 3

As for Halloween, I don't know how the Moles could top last Halloween in Millbank, but I'd love for them to try! (pic courtesy @Abnor Mole)
A very aggressive schedule? I don't like the sound of that.

I gave up my premium for this year, so won't be trying these. They do look lovely but I still get weirded out by Patch (or whoever) calling these Chalets.

I reckon there will be plenty of these available once the half-timbered houses are released so I'm giving myself a break from hitting Ctrl-5.
I've been playing the sims!

I'm busy with holiday stuff right now, and wondering what's happening in-world.
Are the stilt homes being released gradually, or has this stalled?
It sounds like there are mailbox glitches, are these making things impossible, or are they just now and then?
How easy is it to get a nice stilts location?
Thanks in advance @hoppers.- 1

Happy New Stilt Homes Forum peeps!
Not sure if I'll get the chance to grab one of these for a while but they look nice. I was worried that squeezing the extra plot in would impact on the feeling of space, or reduce the landscaping by too much, but I guess if you are going to do that then this is the theme to do it with. Open water / sand looks more natural than bare grass.
I hope to try these once the holiday rush is over, have fun!

On a different note, I don't recall seeing mentioned yet this tidbit from Patch via Inara Pey's blog:
https://modemworld.me/2020/12/04/an-alpine-touch-for-linden-homes-in-second-life/
That's cool to know, thank you! The word 'Fachwerkhaus' comes up with a collection of houses on google which are half-timbered, and which definitely could be a design inspiration for the not-chalets.
It may be a mischievious thought, but I wonder why the german moles didn't simply take photos of german houses, in Germany? 'Yes Boss, those theme park photos are lovely and very useful, we'll definitely look at those later.'
Dutch influence seems credible too after visiting the build.
The end result is fairly generic, which I guess gives people a chance to see these as they would like.- 3

In my case, I am not puzzled by the theme's architectural choices. Not particularly because I am American, but because I have no expectation that a LH theme will be anything other than a simplified, "inspired-by" representation of any one style. (I was astounded by how well they did with the Vics). I've never heard any Linden imply that understanding other cultures is a goal of the Linden Home program. Patch's team is small, and rather than indulging in research to attain European verisimilitude, I wouldn't be surprised if the research were something more like: "Hey! It'd be nice to something with a European flavor. People really like these alpine villages! It wouldn't be HARD to do something like them! Let's go have lunch in Helen and see what we can find." The Chalets are a nod in the direction of European alpine styles, not a textbook.
I have to admit that it is totally LOL to me that you would be frowny about a small American town deciding to invigorate itself by remaking itself into an alpine tourist town. Here we have Leavenworth, Washington - it is unabashedly mock-Bavarian, and has the advantage of being set in a genuine alpine landscape with fabulous skiing. People love to stay there in the winter, eat a little bratwurst, drink pilsner and Rhine wine, and feed carrots to the Clydesdales that pull them around the countryside in big open sleighs stocked, predictably, with hot chocolate. Restaurant wait staff in dirndls and lederhosen. Lots of Bernese Mountain dogs. They know it's pastiche, they do it all with a wink, but it's fun. And it brings dollars into a region that would otherwise be, economically speaking, a little bleak.
And as for the Idahoan mailbox-world, if such a thing happened, you can bet some guy in a garage in Twin Falls would get to work with his lathe to create a miniature golf course with that theme. Idahoans might be so delighted at the attention from the UK that they would research the mailboxes in "Idaho-world" and hustle to install clones all over the place.
@Raspberry Crystal, I really hope you get a "chalet" and make something that pleases you with it. I would really welcome a little education on authentic styling within the strictures of these homes!
I'm not frowning at people having fun! (except when they do it loudly and drunkenly right next to me :D)
I must admit that places like Disneyworld are a turn off as well, but I can stare at an old building (or a tree) for ages.

Excuse my apparent takeover of this thread today but I just want to say don't give up the dream. Although no railway (shut up about the damn railway) my alt just landed the one place I thought I never would see but have always felt the best spot for me in the continent. So thank you person who gave up this, I have in fact stood by it many times hoping to live in it. THANK YOU! Second Life Maps | West End (no I won't be popping it back in and certainly won't be trying to flip it
It isn't that long ago that you mentioned this spot, that's truly wonderful Chloe!

Maybe I have missed it, but what category should one chose to report objects that seem to violate the Belli rules? With Christmas season, lots of people seem to have forgotten that this isn't mainland.
It's difficult to come up with a correct category, just do your best and make sure your links are correct so the team can find things.

solitude

Yes I do enjoy solitude in SL.
I love having the freedom to hop from one place to another without consulting anyone, and lose myself in just looking at what there is.
This is a different feeling to visiting a completely empty grid, which does feel lonely and strange.
