  1. For me, the main reason to live on mainlands is the ability to travel vast distances (if/when the grid allows). I commute to work in Snowlands from Heterocera Atoll, something I find much more fun than a sterile teleport (though the grid is rather sucky right now). Another thing which I think has a bearing on things is whether you like to see unusual things. Due to the lack of rules on mainlands, you tend to see all manner of strange and wonderful things. Residents have a huge diversity of imaginations, bringing much colour to the world around. Sure, sometimes we see things which we consider as plain ugly, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and one persons lump of coal is anothers diamond.
  2. I agree with everything said in the OP, though as for a solution, I have no idea. In an ideal world, perm supervision by a Linden would be the solution, but I can't imagine this ever happening.
  3. The fastest way to clear ghost/undeleted prims is to use a support ticket, under these headings: Land & Region > Report and offline region Make sure you include the sim information found in-world from the client: help > about second life (old client, do not know where it is with v2) The bit with the sim numbers, that looks like this: sim8900.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.41.76:13006)Second Life RC LeTigre 11.06.14.232896 Tell them you have undeleted prims. The logic behind using those headings is that it is filtered to people with the keys to the sims. I usually find that the restart happens in less than an hour, often as quick as 15 minutes after submitting.
  4. Questions like this are the reason why we need the DPW open office hours back
  5. If you see many together, it is probably due to this bug: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-6059 ...and it seems to be getting worse.
  6. Persephone Emerald wrote: Here's an idea for dealing with the junk accumulation problem. AR the Adult junk, then fill up the lot with small inconspicuous prims, so nobody else can rez junk on it. You might even try to hide the junk with some nice folliage & rocks. Just remember that if you do fill an abandoned parcel like that, please make sure you set the prims to phantom, so they do not require the physics engine!
  7. The only way to know is to watch! Lots has happened since Jan 2009 already
  8. If ARs are ineffective, try making a support ticket under the Linden Lab Owner Parcel issues heading. Often there is a fast response if all that is required is setting the auto-return time.
  9. www.*********.com/ Currently it re-directs to my main site, but coming soon will be a re-structure of the sites. ********* will bring together the resources for explorers, Greenlaners will be dedicated to the vehicle business only (currently served by the sub-domain vehicles.greenlaners.com). As some of you will know, the growth of the road network has been to the detriment of the green-lanes. The original site/group/brand was aimed at these routes because they required greater maintenance and were as numerous as routes with roads. Greenlaners began as a kinda "way of life" brand, hence everything being lumped together. With the growth of the roads and the growth of our interests, the relevance of the name diminished. The in-world group was re-branded to "Protected Route Interest Group" to clarify the broad scope of our interests and goals (after a consultation period with members). This new domain will hopefully separate any further confusion between my vehicle business and the aims of the group.
  10. http://heterocera.map.greenlaners.com/ Might be useful
  11. http://www.nandnerd.info/map/ for a pan/zoom-able map http://www.nandnerd.info/map/mainland.php for overview of the Atoll Mainland Superb!!!!
  12. I had a thread removed from here because it wasn't related to SL. This one is, but I guess that maybe it will get removed because it isn't off topic. Some community we live in these days...
  13. None of the Sansara roads have names
  14. http://sansara.map.greenlaners.com/ & http://snowlands.map.greenlaners.com/ ...any use to you?

  16. Perhaps you need to read again....I didn't follow any links for blogs or forums.
  17. Professor Merryman wrote: Hi Yevad. You can make a list of items you see on Xstreet that you wish to buy but might not have any money to buy them. If someone wants to be so kind and buy it for you, like for your birthday or something, then they can see your list and buy you a gift. It can also be used as a kind of reminder list of things you saw late one night but know you'll forget about the next day. You can go back to the list to remind you. As for the question marking thing...well...yeah...that's a bit confusing since I post a question I expect it to be answered. Why do I need to let everyone know it's a question? haha. And Peru...google it. haha. PM How weird....no wander nobody fulfilled my wish, I guess Pinks decapitated head on a silver plate was a bit much to ask for really. I thought "favourite items" was for reminders...well that's what I have always used it for anyway as that seemed to be the way it worked. I know the answer of the Peru question already, its just for bonus points, and to see if anyone else does. I clicked the thingy to give you 2 points by the way for being so kind in joining me on my new blog!
  18. OK, for those reading this that are as confused about my confusion as I am confused about this site, here is what brought me here: At the bottom of the wiki page it said " How can I get further help on using Wish Lists? Please start by emailing secondlife@wishpot.com. You can also post your question on Second Life Answers or open an Xstreet SL support ticket. " I wasn't about to e-mail wishpot.com, as I have never heard of them and the "Second Life Answers" link brought me over here, to a page which looks like one of those knowledge base pages where you can read others questions and the responses from those at the helm, rather like a less formal ticket I assumed. So I clicked the button to make a new question and now I have made a blog it tells me, not exactly what I was expecting. Well, now it's done so ho-hum....tune in tomorrow for another thrilling instalment of my new blog...not that I want a blog, or ever have. Actually, unless someone leads a really interesting life, full of adventure and intrigue, I can't imagine why anyone would want a blog. Maybe this is all a mistake and LL don't even know what a blog is? Oh well, I can answer that one: it is short for "web log", a chronicle of some ones mundane life posted on the internet for everyone to see and read rather than looking for errors in the telephone directory when bored. Do I get any points?
  19. What the....? I have made a blog post? I thought I was asking a a question, not making a blog. OK, here goes.... Today I woke, dressed, ate, walked my dog and defecated. Isn't that what blogs are for..? lol
  20. After searching the site for ages and not for the first time, I still can't find anything which tells me what the hell "wish lists" are supposed to be for.   Wiki doesn't say, the knowledge base has nothing....is it items I wish someone would make, items I wish a complete stranger will buy for me, items I can't find by using the useless search facility?  It really makes no sense and as usual all literature about it fails to even mention the fundamental question: what is it actually for? When it first appeared I made one fun entry on mine and it has since been deleted by LL with no explanation or notification, so it is rather pointless if they are going to interfere with it anyway.  I didn't get my wish either. And another thing....what does "Mark this discussion as a Question - this encourages people to answer for points and helps you track answers." above this text entry box refer to?  Points for what?!?  Is this a game show?!?!  There is a question mark icon next to the check box, but it appears to do nothing except check/uncheck the box.  These SL sites get more and more weird and less and less relevant...is there something in the water? And in reference to the above, one more question for a bonus point: What is the capital city of Peru?
