Without having the details of your system, try to update your graphics card driver to the newest offered by Nvidia.

Adding to Rolig's answer, you also should take a look in “inworld“ at adoption agencies. There is the chance pretty big to find parents. Try the search in your viewer. Also try the word “youthspot“ to find kid related and kid friendly places. I'm a teenish boy in SL, but live on my own

What do you mean? The software (viewer to access Second Life)? Try to download the fitting viewer version for your OS and then follow the usual instructions. If it would be the server, TP somewhere else and see if it is better then. Also looking for the firewall and anti virus can cause that. You can also try to ping any another server besides secondlife's to see if that makes any issues. Sometimes you might need to restart your dsl modem/router. If you use wifi and that connections is at the (s)lower end it might be an issue too.

It means what is says A connection was closed due to some issues between your PC and the server that hosts the profiles. The reason for that can be many things. Like a timeout for the request "I want to see the profile", a anti virus software or by a firewall. Or simply a bug on the server side. Oh, if you wonder why the rest of the internet still works... the internet is not made linear/serial, but all works parrallel, and if you open a site or even SL, there are many connections open. And if you want to access the profiles another connection is opened. But gets closed for some reason mentioned above. Since all your accounts can't access profiles you might need to test what cause that. Try to restart your DSL modem/router and if that has no use, try to disable the firewall and antivirus one after the other. But only test the profiles while the anti virus is off and also don't start any other software that access the internet.

Usualy anyone can see your feed, only if you have set the default privacy more strict then it is possible that noone can see them. Open your profile and there is the settings button (left hand the gear icon) and then tab privacy. Can you edit your post and post the specs you have, please (from the viewer: Help - About Second Life (or viewername)? Did you install the newest driver from the vendors homepage? The drivers are chosen from windows are usualy not the newest. The automated updates don't work very well.

Start the Ubuntu 14.04 LST packetmanager you might look for those mention in your error message. The names might be listed there, but only for migration reasons to multiarch, if not follow the link below.. I also recommend to use the proprietary drivers of your graphics card, the mesaGL driver will usualy not work very well with SL. I know some people that are happy with 1-2 FPS on lowest settings! (no kidding!) And so its hard to say if you are happy with it. If you are using a thirdparty viewer you might want to look into the newest SL viewer which loads a lot faster due to some important updates how things are loaded (at least it does load a lot faster for me!) and see if you are happier with it. Slow loading can also be an issue with using wifi (not always tho) and maybe having an anti virus scanning your incoming traffic. You should try to disallow the scan of the data coming from SL.

Try it in a browser please and see if that works for you. In some cases the SLPlugin(.exe) can be blocked by a Firewall or anti virus. You might need to remove it from the blacklist and tell your antivirus not to scan it.

Relog and or wait some time. Or try to edit at my.secondlife.com (If you don't trust me, call your dashboard and go from there the link provided on your dashboard). Also look if your firewall doesn't block the SLPlugin(.exe) and the anti virus didn't block it as thread. Take it of from the scans, makes more trouble quite often if you don't.

Second Life is very demanding to your PC and your internetconection. Make yure you meet the minimum requirements: https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/?lang=en-US and that your connection is reliable. Watching a stream is NOT a sign, that that is given. Packet loss and Ping times will say much more about, check that with the statistics bar in the viewer by hitting ctrl+shift+1 and look for Ping Sim and Packet Loss. Also make sure that your firewall and anti virus isn't the issue.
