  1. Have you ticked/checked the box for media in preferences-sound. Have you tried another stream at a different parcel ? Copy and paste the music stream url in about land and see if it will play in VLC or Windowes media player (if you are on windows) , does it work there ?
  2. It's worth remembering the height offset/hover will only work if you have a modify shape. Another solution is to try different foot bases from different shoes. I have a pair of boots that always sink into the floor when I use the supplied base so I use one from a completely different pair to correct it.
  3. "Check back periodically and meanwhile go watch a good movie" I have Netflix. By the time I find a good movie SL will be fixed :smileytongue:
  4. If's the same way as when you buy L$ with your card, your local currency is converted automatically by your bank. $9.95 is around £6 When you order something from a US store online you don't worry about how to pay, you just enter your details and your bank processes the payment.
  5. I have no idea what age my avatar is meant to be. Probably around the same age as the RL person I have modelled her on. What I can tell you is that we share an identical SL/RL birthday. (except the RL age is higher) *huggs*
  6. It's good that the new post makes it clear that not only are 3rd party exchanges not authorised (apart from the new list of sellers), but also "not allowed" Yet the relevant section in the tos still reads that a person who buys L$ from elsewhere does so at their own risk and cannot be guaranteed. For many, that's where the confusion lies. If you flat out aren't allowed to buy/sell L$ from elsewhere than why even have that line in the Tos ? Good to see there are now AUTHORISED sellers but it still needs to be made clearer. *hugs*
  7. Well the beta grid is mainly for testing, like Mesh was tested there before deployment to the main grid. You can build and upload things for free, see how they look. A lot of builders hone their creative skills there without any interruptions from friends or customers. I know the aerodrome from SL is on the beta grid and you can go skydiving. *huggs* Mondy
  8. Cool VL complies with the TPV policy. "Whether or not a viewer developer chooses to self-certify by applying for listing in the directory, all viewers connecting to Second Life must comply with the Policy on Third-Party Viewers; listing in the directory is not a requirement." The Cool VL Viewer is TPV policy compliant. Please see its TPV TOS. Currently this is probably the best way to see mesh if you want the classic V1 UI. See it in action *huggs* Mondy
  9. I remember when Mesh was first announced, that many people complained about being forced to use V2 and prefer V1 etc. It was also said when developers of TPV's announced they would backport mesh, that it was impossible, mesh is too closely tied to the V2 code. Well so far the only V1 style viewer (which is based on Snowglobe) that has backported mesh successfully is Cool VL. Other viewers that claim mesh support, I believe someone mentioned one or two, support the form of mesh on opensim grids which isn't compatible with LL's implementation,so cannot be used for viewing mesh in Secondlife. Henri Beauchamp has worked hard and is bringing out frequent updates of his Cool VL 1.26 mesh viewer. It's considered Beta, but works well - Just so this doesn't seem like an advert for Cool, there is a closed beta of Firestorm being tested right now, which will be released when the known bugs are ironed out, hopefully in the next couple of weeks (but don't quote me on that) and Kirstens of course has had a Mesh beta since not long after Mesh tests began on the beta grid and is now stable. Latest version is 21(9) *huggs* Mondy
  10. If the charter members hadn't been willing to buy a life time membership for a brand new and unknown concept, run by a start up company with no money then LL would have gone bankrupt in 2003. You literally have them to thank for the sl you enjoy today. In light of that perhaps some sort of recognition should be there, it's just that the thread title and the OP did make it seem like something in the viewer wasn't working. *huggs*
  11. True full screen mode was removed as an option from the code some time ago. but if you press Ctrl +alt+F1 (on windows) you can hide the UI if the idea is to hide it for filming or shapshots. hide the huds as well and you have a completely uncluttered screen like mouse view but without the annoying "Press esc to return from mouse view message" The latest builds of Kirstens viewer have a camera mode that looks very much like the old full screen view, same as mouse look but with the UI visible. *huggs* Mondy
  12. So the beta viewer is actually working..you just want some kind of extra icon to show your status as a charter member for some kind of what ? Recognition ? Prestige ? Mondy
  13. Monderas Bristol wrote: You can just use any compatible joystick/joypad as well. My Logitech works pretty well. *huggs* Mondy Just on a completely unrelated note, I've noticed my post count (not that it matters) hasn't gone up since this new forum started, despite making at least 10. ETA: Aha, searched and read, off-topic posts don't count
  14. You can just use any compatible joystick/joypad as well. My Logitech works pretty well. *huggs* Mondy
  15. LiveReport wrote: I just don't understand because they are not that big on my viewer. Yes,I know, it was a joke, just a bit of humour. See this is default This is shrunk down And this is frankly ridiculous ! :smileytongue: *huggs* Mondy
  16. Solaria Goldshark wrote: Monderas Bristol wrote: the camera controls in viewer 2 were to big ? Isn't that the Web based version of the controls Mondy? :smileyhappy: I think it's maybe the version for the truly myopic ! *huggs*
  17. in standard V2 just drag the cam controls away from the bottom bar once open. they won't close again till you close them. *huggs*
  18. Storm Clarence wrote: As a side note, someone posted 'different' gaming angles to set in the viewer - over the left shoulder, etc. I wish I could find that post again. I liked the settings - when I changed viewers I lost them. I can't remember but Torley did a great video. You need to just alter the debug settings. cameraoffsetdefault has x,y,z values that let you see the change in real time to position the cam how you like. *huggs* Mondy
  19. Ossian wrote: Is that really how big they are in V2? Lol, no. I just enlarged them. The new firestorm preview has a resizable camera control. you can actually make them as small as you like. *huggs* Mondy
  20. the camera controls in viewer 2 were to big ? *huggs* Mondy
  21. Hippie Bowman wrote: Yup, and I went down with the ship, but survived! Woot! Hugs to you Valerie! Peace! If you went down with the ship Hippie, then you managed to climb on board the rescue dinghy and find another vessel to sail in, because here you are, making us smile and being one of the reasons I smile about SL. *huggs* Mondy
  22. Some things to try if you haven't already. Completely clear Cache. From within SL and outside. C:\users\username\appdata\local\secondlife Remove everything in that folder, it will be re-created next time you log in. Is this everywhere ? Presumably the times you manage to stay on 12 hours you aren't in just one sim. Have you tried clearing cache before logging out ? If you have been in a long time then it might be an idea to do that. Random disconnects are often linked to router/connectivity problems. Try resetting the router. Checking your speedwww.speedtest.net or similar) and perhaps alter the bandwidth settings in the viewer. ( Is this on just the official viewer or 3rd party viewers as well. If only the official viewer, try one of the viewers listed in theTPV directory. Your performance may be better. If connecting to your router wirelessly connect via network cable, see if that helps. *huggs* Mondy
  23. I wouldn't worry to much about this. your comments, if also given inworld will be visible to the lindens if they investigate. they can see any IM's or notecards/notices you sent. If everything is consistent with what you say then one would hope they would accept your explanation. *huggs* Mondy
  24. Cerise has given the correct answer here, although if you use the starlight skin with the official viewer that has the admin menu option built in to the preferences so you don't need the debug settings. Other 3rd party V2 based viewers also allow enabling the admin menu from preferences. *huggs* Mondy
  25. Possibly it's the viewer you are using. Use V2 or a V2 based viewer or a 3rd party viewer that has 42 groups support like Phoenix, Cool VL etc. If you are on the old V1 viewer from LL you can see the groups you're in and you should be able to leave groups but not join more unless you go below 25. As you say you can't leave a group all I can suggest is try a different viewer and see if you can then. *huggs* Mondy
