  1. Maestro There is a bit of an issue with today's Main Server Restarts, and I suspect there is a BUG in the new code. Sims are not rezzing all their compement of prims, they are in the sim's inventory but simply not appearing. Now this issue can be corrected by relogging the avatar and forcing the sim to rez its complement of prims again but this should not be happening. None of the conventional "workarounds" are any use, I tried them all before relogging. I checked this out with the help of Firestorm Support so I'm not just whingeing! It may be to do with Project Interesting updates but that is something I cannot tell. FYI I saw this problem most severely on Woods of Heaven, my home sim, no.9741. :smileysurprised:
  2. Oh Dear! Perhaps I should have added a smiley face to my post. I was not being rude, merely brief since I was on a tight schedule! I provided the C&P link so that the OP would know what to do henceforth. By the way today's "Maintenance" has created more bugs than it solved and some sims are taking a heck of a long time to be reached at login. Actually there never was a time when I did not know about the GSP because it was one of the things I learned about during my first few days in SL...from a "seasoned" avatar. So, in short, I am sorry if I dented someone's pride, but what I posted was accurate, factual and helpful!:smileywink:
  3. Simple, there is a rolling Restart on Main Server sims today currently underway. If you check on the Grid Status Page you would know: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/
  4. Maestro It looks like whoever updates the GSP is not singing form the same hymnsheet as you...they tell us that there are RC channel rolls occuring! Rolling Maintenance RC Channels Posted by Status Desk on September 4th, 2014 at 12:37 am PDT [Posted 12:30 AM PDT, 4 September 2014] We will be performing rolling maintenance for regions on Magnum, BlueSteel and LeTigre RC server channels beginning at approximately 7:00AM PDT Wednesday September 4th. Please refrain from rezzing no-copy objects and making in world L$ transactions, and remember to save all builds. For more information about the specific RC server channels, please refer to the links below. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Beta/BlueSteel http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Beta/LeTigre http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Beta/Magnum I don't think that can be right, can it? :smileysurprised:
  5. Well, if it wasn't their "A" team, it was certainly a good reserve 'cos the problem was fixed pretty quickly for me, though a few (my partner included) stayed "clouded" for a while after. A while back they said there might be a few issues with their primary servers so it's no real surprise when this happens I guess.
  6. I don't know about exploding servers but logins are down and the "problem" is being worked on according to Support so I guess we just wait and see. My guess would be the inventory server(s) again and today being Labor (sic) Day in the USA I doubt if the "A" team is on duty.
  7. Cincia It is quite likely that the number of watchers on the "state change" script bug will be small because a lot of users won't realise what is causing the bug. I didn't at first until Antony Fairport explained it in the Firestorm Support chat! That said it IS a bug that needs to be fixed and the fact that the LL BUG report mutated into a MAINT code suggests they are taking it seriously and it will be fixed sooner rather than giving it to Roundtuit Linden. There are few folk that would not prefer PI as it is warts'n' all, I think we are all agreed on that.:smileyhappy:
  8. MBeatrix: http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE-14394 is the main Firestorm JIRA re state change issues. : https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-7084 is the LL BUG/MAINT entry. http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE - 14396 is the other. Dunno why the Firestorm ones won't copy the link, but if you enter the url into your browser it should get you there. Edit: OK 14396 doesn't apear to exist, I have it wrong then...I will try to find the number.
  9. MEA CULPA, MEA MAXIMA CULPA. Yes Qie, I did. I've got Andrew and Simon mixed up more times than I care to remember, and I apologise to both of them for that. I castigate others for making stupid errors and then make one myself.
  10. Sadly "Project Interesting" has its own tranche of bugs, some of which appear not to have even been considered until the Firestorm devs merged the code into their viewer. Yes, PI is good and is definitely a "shiny" but it is also like so many other Linden "shinies"...half-complete. FIRE-14394, FIRE-14396 and an associated Linden BUG. It'd be nice if they'd (Linden Lab) issue things without such obvious flaws. Shame really, Simon did a lot of work on this feature but was clearly not allowed to finish it.
  11. Yes, naturally Amethyst, always assume that the advice sound...but my point is that it is now over 5 hours after the scheduled start and there is no indication that the work has even begun. No rez and no transact restrictions are serious impediments to the SL economy, not to mention that it puts a crimp in our time inworld. All that is required is a lilttle note to say "we're doing it"...like they do with the rolls. Not too much to ask, is it?
  12. Scheduled Inventory Database MaintenancePosted by Status Desk on August 13th, 2014 at 02:38 pm PDT [POSTED 2:38 PM PDT, 13 August 2014] We will be performing scheduled inventory maintenance on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at approximately 6:00 AM PDT. During this time, some residents may be logged off and will be temporarily unable to log in, or experience inventory loading issues. This maintenance may also disrupt transactions. Please refrain from transacting with L$ or rezzing valuable (no-copy) items until the all-clear is given. Please check back here for updates. However, it is now after 9:30 am on the 14th and there is no comment on the GSP as to whether the work has been rescheduled, is actually ongoing or (perish the thought) is "resolved". Could we have a bit of clarity please LL?
  13. Thanks for that reply, Dari, I didn't know it was a difficult operation....fair enough.
  14. Caleb I know it's a minor thing but PLEASE can you poke the GSP op so that you and s/he appear to sing from the same hymn book please? The GSP STILL shows RC channel rolls on the Google calendar for today!
  15. Dora I have seen that message before, and it arose from a temp-rez object that wandered over a parcel boundary on my sim, into a parcel that my objects were not allowed. That may be the origin of the message, so I'd look at any temp-rezzers on your parcel and see if a temp-rezzed object is likely to cross a boundary. I'd think this is something you could ignore safely. I think Monty L is correct in that the object description and location field are not populated correctly is a new(ish) bug. Nevertheless, I think my suggestions as to the likely culprit and its location close to a parcel boundary are correct.
  16. SL Addict...Freya Please stop bickering about technicalities...it is ridiculous! I was also in SL every day from May 2008 onwards (I still am) and weekend peak concurrency was frequently over 75000 in the UK evening...from about 6pm our time until after 11pm. When Linden Lab removed the huge numbers of bots that inflated the online number and camping became less popular peak concurrency fell to well below 75K, and has slowly declined ever since until now...with the highest concurrency in winter months now being just over 60K on a Sunday (if it is raining). So...SL is in slow decline but it has declined massively since 2008. There ARE good reasons for that which do not directly involve SL dying, but it remains true that until recently and certainly while Mark Kingdon was "in charge", SL atrophied a great deal. If there is one factor that can be said to have wounded SL most it is Mark's woeful time as CEO. Thank goodness he is no longer CEO...Philip's brief return and Rod Humble did nothing really but at least stopped the rot, I can only hope that (from recent showings) with Ebbe as CEO, Oz and Pete will keep this MMORPG going until I no longer care.
  17. You know, with all the fluff in SL about Linden Lab's "new" project, and how it will take resources away from SL supprt and development, this sort of thing is guaranteed to raise hysterical questions about SL's future. This sort of silence is NOT wise Linden Lab. We know you can do better. OK Friday is an important US holiday...that is THIS COMING Friday, so what gives now? Oh and another thing...the Server Group meeting is usually held on a Friday, when the intended new server software is announced...what price can I have on there being no rolls next week as well?
  18. Just asking. Nothing to LeTigre or Bluesteel either I assume?
  19. Qualyphi I don't often take issue with what, on the surface of it, seems an authoritative response, but I'll make an exception here. Firstly, subjective or objective, there IS a current issue with group chat servers. You need only talk with the moderators of a large group such as Firestorm Support English to be informed. What LL announced as "fixed" in 2011 is most definitely NOT fixed, and sources at LL have admitted as such. There are programmers working on nearly ALL aspects of server-based functions in SL and group IM is just one of them.
  20. Zel I am no coding or programming expert but I do know that this Group IM issue is being worked on at The Lab. With all the sheninigans about the new virtual world that LL are working on it would be no surprise to see some of the more intractable issues being sidelined so I am not holding my breath for a quick fix. As I understand it, if any one of a rack of chat-servers lags, the whole rack lags and this means that even small groups, if they share a server or rack with one of SLs large groups and it starts to lag due to multiple messages being processed, will also lag. I am told that relief servers kick in once in-world numbers exceed about 42K, but I don't know the precise trigger mechanism.
  21. Darien Without any confirmatory comment from a Linden, my best guess is that there is a security exploit that has been found and must be eliminated asap. Routinely Lindens do not discuss such issues for obvious reasons, but I agree it would be nice to know what they need to pull an emegency all-nighter for. There has been a spate of serious griefing attacks (ahh shades of 2009), so that may be the reason.
  22. Maestro Your thread header is "No Server Deploys for week of 26.05.2014", yet on the GSP Google calendar there is a roll scheduled for LeTigre on Thursday 29th...what is being rolled then? (I assume they've actually told You?) :smileysurprised: ETA Wednesday 28th: LeTigre Restart for Thurs 29th has been removed from the GSP Google calendar. Job done...thanks Maestro!
  23. Niall I suspect someone on the GSP has either had too much coffee or not enough, since they apparently think today, Thursday is Wednesday as well. Scheduled Billing Maintenance Posted by Status Desk on May 22nd, 2014 at 07:03 am PDT [Posted 7:00 AM PDT, 22 May 2014] We will be performing scheduled maintenance on our billing engine today, Wednesday, 22 May 2014 beginning at approximately 9:30 AM PDT. During this time our billing services, including LindeX and Marketplace, will not be available. Please continue to check this blog for updates.
  24. Maestro So OK the "Unscheduled Maintenance on Primary Services" interrupted the Main Server roll...Remonta was rolled prior to the outage yet Woods of Heaven has not yet rolled.. It would be nice if the Grid Status Page actually reflected what was going on in that regard. Your updated post is out of sync with the GSP, or so it would seem. It has been a rough day at the office today, I guess!
