Let me tell you about the celebrities I ran across, they were everywhere! The sweet and wonderful helper Venus; the incredibly witty Pep; the charming grid traveler Caity; the wonderful and ubiquitous LeeHere, the storyteller Crap; the ever helpful and very funny Thinkerer (what a wonderful sense of proportion Thinkerer brings to SL); the loquacious Dres; Sylvia, Cinnamon sticks; the fiery Wildcat, *meows*, and so many others. Most even allowed me to mingle with them. Oh BOY did I feel like a star among stars. Thank you all for helping to make my vacation a wonderful experience. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed myself so much that a funny thing happened on the way to the forum--I bought me a little villa in the SLum and took up residency. Welcome back Storm! Although I hope you will stay in the feeds as well, you can be in both ya know !

Winners may be required to complete, sign, notarize and return an affidavit of eligibility/liability release and a publicity release, which must be returned, properly executed, within five (5) days of issuance of prize notification." ------------------------------------------------------------- I had thought about entering until I saw this nonsense. Why is it that all human joy must be smothered in dandruff from grey, faceless lawyers? I seriously do not see a problem with these rules.

I'm sure LL must be very pleased at just how many newly-registered users have appeared on the forums to support their friends (and alts :matte-motes-wink:) (never to be seen again?) LOL. Yeah that. But that is what happens when you let community votes rule - specially when Linden Dollars are involved, I guess it is part of SL in general in (popularity) contests like this and I have accepted this a long time ago. I consider it a way of looking at other people's avatars and what they did to improve it to their liking. So many styles, tastes and ways of expressing themselves!

There is a part of the game that can break your AO's or your avatar permanently from running certain AO's. Friend and I were playing it and we both got crushed in the cave several times. Last time both of our AO's got broke. Hers permanently including her copies would not work anymore. She uses Semotions AO. Mine was broken as well. Only difference I use Vista. My copies worked. We did all the usual. Took it off. Reset them. Nothing would work for her. Thank goodness my copies did work on my avi. So be careful. Avoid the cave all together or risk having your AO totally borked. Way to go Linden Labs. As others already said, same for me. I have done the cave a gazzilion times and nothing happened with my AO and/or other huds - for as far as I wear them when in the Realms. I always disable my AO (but usually detach the whole thing) before entering the LR games, as I find the noob-run better to do when avoiding the rocks. Then again, that may be just me..I am used to running around like a noob, when fighting.

  7. A pic I took when wearing the mesh outfit for the New Year, New You contest - being the 2012 look. The hair, the glasses, the top, pants and boots: all mesh! Woot!

F'em if they can't handle the party!! you have amazing pictures ..i know because i have seen tons of them..they are some of the most amazing shots of second life and the avatars and all kinds of places..if people are crying over that ..then they are not really looking at the image that was voted for.. So F'em and get back in there and show your stuff like you do in the vanity thread..i would vote for any of those pics in that thread..especially the water ones..like the shower one you had.. so i'm sure you had something truely worth the votes up there..don't cut yourself off from showin your style *winks* I agree with everything you said, I too love Wildcats pics and I am happy she put hers back in the contest today!!!! However, to be honest..the bolded part I dont agree on. Yes, ppl can vote now so they do. I dont mind. I do mind that a Linden employee voted. In the contest rules it is very clearly stated that in case of a TIE, Linden Lab decides who the winner is. Therefore....Linden's cannot vote. They are also excluded from participation for that same reason. I suppose/hope it was a mistake in a moment of enthusiasm, it is most certainly nothing Wildcat could prevent from happening...Her pics rock!

I like it, and participated - vain as I am and never miss a chance to show off - but ..yeah, suggestions as raised in order as opening voting in a later stage are useful. Residents from all over the globe may need time to catch up. I, for one, only saw this after a day of work and already loads of images were uploaded and gotten the Kudo's. Even Viale Linden already gave his one Kudo to a participant in this early stage. I mean.....maybe give ppl some time to make pics and get it uploaded? I feel I entered too late already! i really didn't see that section they made in the forums until i got home from work this morning.. i guess it started yesterday lol there is really no time for build up to this thing..it's like SLAM BAM!! enter now before it's too late lol i'm sure they are fun to be in..but it would have been nice for some build up.. half the fun is getting ready for things like this to start.. i looked at the dates for this thing and it feels more like a one night stand as fast as they slammed a section in for it the day that it started.. was it a minute before midnight when that section showed up in the forums? just so they could get the 11th in there? LOL Well indeed. I have not seen any announcement, other than that it was 'live' already and filled with submitted images (and their kudo's) by the time I discovered it by logging in, due to my timedifference with SL time. An announcement would have been nice, as you say: preparation for stuff like this is half the fun! So yeah, I entered tonight (euro time) and did take the time to make proper outfits and all. Cos well, no..I was not a n00b 3 weeks ago and so my make-over needed some thoughts! Still a fun idea, don't we all love to show off a bit? heh! I do!

Is there a prize for the winner? yes....the first prize is LS 5000 and for nr 2 and 3 its 1000LS I did not enter for the monies, could not care less, but for the fun and seeing what other people submit! It is basically another popularity contest, as kudo's seem to define the winner. Oh well, I had my 35 mins of fun making the pics..hehe.

The writer of the PM has taken an about face on the role she claimed in said document. PLUS Peace in the Works?!? In a public discussion made on the SL Feeds today “L” and “S” discuss a PM that may lead to peace. My baby has got it (over on the feeds), and ***** was her name (that is a hint) This song always makes me happy when people are fighting. Ahem. Needless to say that the original version of the famous DUTCH band Shocking Blue, rules...And so does Venus!

Any tips on how to get started would be greatful as well as anything else. Thank you. Penelope Rolendis You already got some good advice, including the tip to use Wordpress (which is my favourite too). My advice, as blogger, would be: write about what you like and your blog will develop. I started my blog as a sort of diary, for myself mainly, as I love to explore and needed a place to keep a 'list' with my comments and pics of where I have been. Over time, slowly, I got some readers - and it is nice to find out people enjoy my adventures. It depends on what you want with your blog, there are fashion-blogs, travel-blogs, philosophical ones..just try it and find out what it is you like to write about! Happy blogging!!
  15. Thanks for the replies all! Personally, I do not care much about the 'muting/blocking' as a topic as I hardly mute people anyway (I do have a long list of muted fountains and waterfalls, but they do not tend to follow me on my feed....). The issue I brought up was that it all seems technically a bit odd. If you wish to mute someone, I suppose you do not want to see anything of that resident. Not in world and not on the feeds. This is not how it works. When you block/mute a resident inworld, they become grey and you can blissfully carry on without noticing them. They can now also no longer read your posts on your sl profile feed, but if they post on other people's feeds (e.g. your friends) you will see it. That was all. It does not make sense, as the mute/block is not complete.
  16. This morning we (a friend and I) tried something out on the Profile Feed. I muted him inworld. The effect was kind of bizarre: I am still able to post on HIS feed and I can read everything he posts on other people's feeds. However, MY feed was blocked for him - while my feed is open to all SL residents (you only have to be logged in to have access to my feed). This can't be the purpose of muting! I would have thought, once muting someone i would not be able to see anything they are posting, anywhere. Nor can it be the case that I can still post on a muted one's feed, and possibly annoy them, while they cannot post on mine. We could have a conversation on his feed, not on mine..... I hope this makes sense and I hope this will be fixed!
  17. Merry Christmas. I have been shopping on MP today and it worked. Some items took a bit longer, but nothing missing sofar.....
  18. An early Christmas dinner with Derek, Sylvia and Lad
  19. Peggy Paperdoll wrote: If it's a no fly parcel why do you insist on flying? It's a choice to go to the parcel. It's also a choice to not go.......or leave once you do go and find out you can't fly. Why do people always want to get around rules? Is it some "don't tell me what to do" thing? I've wondered about that too. Our sim is no fly, as it is a combat sim and to avoid flying during fights its set to a complete no-fly zone. Also, nothing is more annoying than flying visitors when you are fighting For some reason ppl think it is cool to fly anyway, regardless of the simsettings. Odd. All are welcome to visit us, on their feet. Walking or running
  20. What I would like to have and only this: to have my block/mute list inworld be incorporated on my feed. I have had a nasty case of stalk-spamming on my feed, from someone (I never even met this person inworld, nor has there been any interaction whatsoever) I eventually blocked /muted inworld to see if his ridiculous posts on my feed would stop. It did not. I had to manually remove all the silly crap that the idiot posted on my feed, which was....56 posts in 2 hours. So yes, I am aware of the 'negative' side of the feeds and its possibilities for idiots. But to be honest, after giving it some thoughts and once the spamming stopped (I may add I NEVER responded to the fool, but only deleted), I may feel different about this, I probably should have kept this fool on my feed so his junk was displayed for the rest of my 'readers' or 'followers'. I will do that a next time. If lunatics need attention, why not give them a platform to display their lack of brains?
  21. Charolotte Caxton wrote: The difference is that if someone bookmarks me, I am not aware of it, it is on their end only. On the followers list however, if someone follows me, I am made aware of it. If I do not wish to see their name on my followers list, I do not have any choice in the matter. So it is only your concern that you actually KNOW who is following you? As Immy pointed out, it is simple to create a bookmark to your profile-feed and follow you, or call it: read your profile and anything YOU post on it, anyway. My concern, as stated in my SL FEED feedback-thread I linked to a couple of posts ago, was and is: the mute/block list in SL inworld does not work on the profile feed. Hence, someone you actually blocked inworld, can still follow and read your feed. That is a different issue though, I understand. You do not block someone without a reason? Unknown people, strangers and new residents that stumble upon my feed and think it is worth to follow me - without sending me friendshipoffers - I welcome and hope they enjoy my pics and the locations I recommend. I still think it is a great alternative to the friendslist, as it is more casual.
  22. Maia007 wrote: Oh no no no no.... this thread is not about the FEED (see title of post) The issue I have here's about the FOLLOW thingy and the wish that we could (have the option to ) DECLINE some followers that we really don't want to be snooping around (especially ones we have some personal issues with ). That's why I mentioned my question being off-topic coz it's not about my main concern in this thread Well, since the only thing 'followers' can 'follow' is your FEED, your thread is definitely about the FEED. I think you may need to get used to the sl feed, the profile (in which the feed is embedded) before you start worrying about followers. They can only see what you post in your feed, they can not follow you inworld as it were. You can even opt to not show the location of your posts, to keep it vague. Also, if you do not post anything....there is nothing to follow.
  23. Maia007 wrote: LOL! I like that yes I agree that it's nice to have something like the FEED to share things with the rest of the SL residents. I just wish to not see the names of those people in my profile (the 'unwanted' followers). haha! I don't see any reason why it should be hard to implement, that option to just decline people we don't want in our lives and some others say that there are inactive accounts stuck in their profiles coz these were following them so now they can't take them out and maybe they're like this annoying fly hovering in front of our face and wouldn't leave? lol oh, off-topic, what is this FEED everyone's talking about? I mean how do I view mine? it's where I can see my friends' activities right? but uhmm... where can I find it? is it the same with all the viewers? sorry for the quick queries, I just feel that you know more than me so I just hop straight right in hihi.. I hope you don't mind. thanks! The FEED is what this whole thread you started is about . ANd that is the only thing, for now, that people can follow. Apparently you have not been into the feeds and profiles, so hopefully you will see it is not such a scary thing at all..... It is like an SL Twitter and you can either post from Inworld (as I mostly do) with optional snapshots in V3, or use it offworld in your browser. Mine: https://my.secondlife.com/caitlin.tobias Just replace my name for yours in the link, to see it. To read mine, you have to be logged in, as I have set it to SL Residents only. There are more restrictions possible, you can do that in privacy settings.
  24. To add, and maybe enlighten you a bit, that I am not a blind follower of all new tools being created..I recently started a thread with some feedback on the SL Feeds. This thread was then moved to the dungeons of the SL Technology forum (I posted in Feedback) but to my delight, Linden Lab has responded they are actually reading all our feedback in that thread, so feel free to add your concerns and questions to it! http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Viewer/Feedback-on-the-SL-Profile-Feeds/td-p/1268929
