  1. @Carl Thibodeaux You can try to contact the other estate manager there. I'm a little familiar with this incident. Although there are conflicting stories, the only one that makes since is that a particular manager was pocketing money instead of paying for the sims, and LL took back control of the sims & locked them up. I know several people affected by this, and supposedly they're trying to work with LL to have the sims unlocked for a short time to let people go grab their things. Whether or not this will actually happen is uncertain. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way many years ago, that anytime we rent land from a Private Region, this is a risk taken, because they are allowed to do whatever they wish with the region if they own it. Linden Labs considers it a personal/private issue between the two residents and will not get involved. Unfortunately, the money paid for tier is lost, because they can kick us from the regions at any time for any reason with no refund. It's sad & very unfortunate that people take advantage of this, and use it as a way to scam people. This is why I do not pay large amounts of tier at a time anymore. Some people had just paid many months in advance, and it's horrible that they have lost all that money. I hope you all are at least allowed to go grab your things at some point. Good luck to you ♥
  2. It doesn't say that you can still hear people from other parcels. Restricting your parcel sounds & voice puts you on a different channel, so you wouldn't be able to still hear sounds & voice from parcels on separate channels. (I hope this doesn't sound argumentative, b/c it's not intended to be. I just want to help people better understand how the features work) In the 10+ yrs I've been in SL, and thru the many different sims/parcels I've managed, these 2 features have always worked the way I explained. If you restrict your sounds/gestures & restrict your voice to your parcel, it prevents people from hearing anything coming from your parcel, but it also prevents you from hearing sounds & voice coming from anywhere else on the sim, regardless of other people's personal land settings (only time I've seen this not be true is when SL is being a pain & not working properly). Maybe I can explain it so it makes more sense why it works this way. It seems like people are simply making a misinterpretation of LL's explanation of the feature - It says what the feature does, but if you don't understand how it works, it could be easily misinterpreted. Sound: Restrict gesture and object sounds to this parcel - Enabling this means an avatar needs to be on this parcel to hear gesture and object sounds originating from within it. This is useful if you have environmental ambience like birdsong and don't want to disturb the neighbors, or if you have an Adult-rated establishment and prefer that passerby don't hear sexually explicit noises. As cautioned above, maturity ratings take precedence. Restrict Voice to this parcel - Similar to Restrict gesture and object sounds to this parcel, enabling this prevents voice chat from being heard by avatars unless they are on this parcel. Good if you want to have a spatial voice chat in the open yet maintain some privacy. It states that it restricts any sounds/gestures/voice to your specific parcel, which is exactly what it does. So, that means your sounds/gestures/voice have been restricted to a separate channel than the rest of the sim, which is why they can no longer be heard by people outside of that parcel. So, knowing this, you can understand why still being able to hear other's sounds & voice from outside your parcel wouldn't make sense. Regardless of what other people's parcel settings are, you're still on a different channel than they are, so as long as you are in your own parcel, you should not be able to hear sounds from outside that parcel. Notice when you activate the "Restrict Voice to this Parcel" that your voice dot disappears then reappears - this happens because it's switching your voice channel. You can't voice chat with someone that isn't on that same channel. It works the same with sounds/gestures. That is why, you and a friend can stand less than a meter apart, but on opposite sides of the parcel line, and not be able to hear each other, because you are on separate channels. Think of it this way, it's just like being in a voice call on skype, or discord, or facebook - you can't hear each other unless you're in the same channel, it's no different in SL. Here's an example, private voice calls in SL, you're switched to a different voice channel and the only people that can hear you are the people in the call....anyone that is not in that same voice call is unable to hear you, and you are also unable to hear anyone outside of the call (because you're on 2 different channels). If what you are saying were true, then by that same logic, when people are in private calls, they would still be able to hear the people outside of the call, but people outside of the call wouldn't be able to hear them - doesn't make sense right? Once you're on a separate voice channel, you can't hear them, and they can't hear you. Another example, which is another feature located in Sounds, is restricting avatar sounds to Group only. When this is restricted, you can be on the same parcel as others, but if you are not in the land group, your sounds/gestures will not be heard, b/c the parcel sounds have been restricted to a specific channel for that group only. If you're still hearing sounds from outside your parcel, it's possible that you think you have your land set up right, but accidentally missed checking one of the options, or you might have checked it but it just didn't save & needs to be checked again, since we know how often some things don't save properly in SL. It's also possible that there was just an error when you restricted your land & it didn't switch you over properly. You could try un-checking then re-checking the options. Also, check to make sure you don't have some type of media playing on your parcel that you are unaware of, which could be where the sounds are coming from. If it still doesn't work, the land may need a fix. This is SL after all, and things sometimes don't work how they should. Sometimes lands get "borked" so to speak, & also sometimes avatars get "borked" as well. Also, sometimes when it should be switching you to a different channel or server, it errors and doesn't switch you over. Just to give an example of this, it's like how sometimes when you TP out of a sim to another sim, but your About Land info doesn't change and your voice is still stuck on the server of the previous sim and you can still hear sounds from that sim, it's the same concept, it happens because there was an error and it didn't switch you to the channel for the sim you're entering. The only other advice I can offer, is that if every thing is set up right, but you still hear them, you might consider contacting the region owner to check into the issue, or in the Linden Homes case, Filing a Ticket with LL to have it fixed. I hope this helps give a better understanding of the feature's function ♥
  3. Yes, in order to join the parcels, they must have the same owner. So, if your current parcel is deeded to a group, then the 2nd parcel must also be deeded to that same group, then they can be joined. Just right click on the land itself and from the pie menu click Edit Terrain. Make sure "Select Land" is selected, you hold down left click anywhere on one of the plots & drag it over onto the 2nd plot (you do not have to select all of the 2 parcels, just an area from each). Then click Join. To answer your question about undeeding: In order to do this you will have to set your land for sale & buy it. After doing so, you will be the sole owner of the land & it will no longer be deeded to a group.
  4. This is already an option. It can be found in the About Land > Sound - Make sure there is a Check next to "Restrict gesture and object sounds to this parcel" and a Check next to "Restrict Voice to this parcel". There seems to be a big misunderstanding as to the function of these 2 options, as I have seen a lot of people requesting this. If these are checked, you'll only hear object sounds & gestures played within your parcel and you will only hear voices active within your parcel. While you are within your own parcel boundaries it will not matter whether or not other parcels have this checked, as long as yours is checked, then all you will hear is that coming from within your parcel boundaries. You'll only hear other's when you step outside your property boundaries.
  5. *as also stated in my thread, but adding to this one* Better variety of wall textures. Some darker/duller wall tones. The only ones available are all light/bright & pastel (even the brown is "bright")
  6. I want to start off by saying, as a very long time Premium member, this was definitely a much needed & long over-due upgrade. The new houses are great & the fact you can change the house on that same lot without moving is even greater. I am already really loving my new Linden Home. That being said, there is something I would like to address/suggest. Although there are many interior wall options, they're all light & bright, mostly all bright pastels (even the brown is a "bright" brown). It would be awesome if there were also the same options of darker/duller interior walls available.
  7. Thank You so much! That's definitely an amazing addition!
  8. These new Homes, why are we not able to pick the style/size we want, like we've always been able to do? You click traditional, and it picks a random style/size for you...that doesn't make much sense to me.
  9. Does being a Premium member now offer bigger land without extra cost? it use to be a 512 plot or a linden home. But, looking at my accounts now, it says Allowed holdings: 1,024.00 square meters Current holdings: 512.00 square meters Available for purchase: 512.00 square meters Peak square meter usage: 512.00 square meters Total monthly cost: USD 0.00
  10. How do i contribute my alts 512 tiers all over for 1 main plot? Never done that before, so not exactly sure how to do it. I can make a group obviously, but how do I set the group up so that they all contribute to 1 ?
  11. Oh awesome! I didn't know about the group land ownership part. I may have to do that. Tysm!
  12. Ok so, I've had my Premium on this account for several years now, and I have a Linden Home. I just got Premium on one of my other accounts tho, and just want to clarify something, to make sure that it hasn't changed. Use to, you could choose either a Linden Home, or a 512 plot on mainland at no extra cost that comes as part of your premium membership. Is this still accurate? So, if I choose no to have the Linden Home, and I go find a 512 plot on mainland and purchase it, the tier won't be any extra charge to me, and is included as part of my membership, correct? I just wanted to clear this up to make sure this is still, in fact, true. I was reading some of the wording, and it made it sound like premium memberships only include the linden home, and if you get a 512 plot it's extra cost. So looking for clerification. Thanks :)

  14. Cube Republic wrote: You're correct, cash your lindens out to your account and leave the US$ balance there without transfering to paypal. What do I do to apply it to my Premium payment? Will they automatically use that, and not pull it from my Debit Card, when payment time comes, or what is it that I need to do/change to make sure they pull it from my USD balance and not my Debit Card?
  15. Ok so, I have had a Premium account in SL for a few years now. I pay the $9USD per month. Someone told me you can use your Lindens to pay for the Premium instead of USD. One friend told me she got Premium once and that she purchased it using Lindens. Is this possible, and if so, how? I've been in SL since 2009, & I did try to research this once, and wasn't able to figure it out at the time. I know how to convert my Lindens to USD on my SL account. I'm assuming that you probably have to do that first? But, from there how do I do it, using that USD amount on my SL account?
  16. Parhelion Palou wrote: As for increased prims on Mainland -- they could triple the prims and I still wouldn't move back to Mainland. If LL wants people to start filling the vast abandoned sections of Mainland they should consider adding zoning and covenants. Agreed. And every mainland I ever go to is laggy as all get out, & I have a pretty decent gaming computer.

  18. I agree, you need to put something in your profile. A lot of people in SL that have been here a while will look at a blank profile & assume it's an alt of someone's that is up to something & will ignore you completely (in some cases they will even eject you). Add a pic of yourself in-game. Put in your About Me that you are new to the game & looking to meet friends & also people that can give you a good guiding hand in the game. As previously suggested, state some main interests as well, like Music, or shopping, reading, etc etc. After you get a little something in your profile, I would suggest clicking Search in-world and searching places by your interests. For example, if you like music, search Music, or Clubs, or search specifically the type of genre you like, etc etc. There's a bit of everything, something for everyone, in SecondLife, and going to places that are catered to your likes & interests will probably help you make friends easier that have the same interests. Also, the places you find that you like, you can go to your PIcs tab & add them there. When I started SL in 2009, I started going to a popular club at the time, & ended up making some great friends that I am still in touch with today. Good luck in your adventrues!
  19. Patch Linden wrote: Hi! Over the next couple of days there will be some changes coming. The deploy will happen in stages. So as you see these changes rest assured it is normal and is happening as intended. On November 3, we will post an official blog along with a video where I will have all of the information and details regarding these changes. Keep an eye on the Official Blog, on Thursday for more info. :matte-motes-wink: I'm wondering the same as the last poster, is this Mainland only??? I was told it would be all regions, but then after reading this, it sounds like Mainland Only. If that's the case then it's not going to "change our SL forever", only change for some, and the rest, nothing. That's AWESOME for mainland people, and Linden Parcels, but what about everyone else?
  20. So, I am use to using Singularity Alpha, things are much easier to find on that viewer. However, i am using OnLive SLGO now, so I have to use the Firestorm viewer. I have a hard time finding anything. I want to upload a picture to SL, but I cannot find where on firestorm you go to do this. I've looked all thru the menus up top and can't seem to find it. Can someone guide me on where this is? Greatly appreciated.
  21. Earlier today, i purchased 3 skins...when I attempted to rez them out to unpack them, I got the error *attemp to rez object failed* i believe is what it said. The items were never returned to my inventory either. That was a few hours ago. I logged on again just now in attempt to rez something, and again, it would not rez. No, it is not a sim problem, as I have tried on 3 diferent sims that have 3 totally different lag levels, and 1 was mainland linden home. I have seen nothing on the grid status update, but am being told this has been happening a lot today. How do i recover these items that have not returned to my inventory, but failed to rez??? I have cleared my inventory cache, more than a few times and relogged more than a few times, they still aren't showing in my inventory.
  22. Right now there is an offer of 50% off premium quarterly upgrade, it's $11.25. My question is, Does that mean if i join premium NOW, i'll always only pay $11.25 quarterly, or will the price go back up for my other quarters??
  23. so far nothing has worked. i tried the focus thing and my cam ended up following me in the water :\ my avi use to be focused on around the center of my back area when i move, now it's more focused above my head to where i either have to have it zoomed in and can barely see the top of my hair, or i have to zoom out too far, its buggin the crap outta me and no way to fix it it seems. Below i posted a pic of what it use to look like(first pic) and what it looks like now(last pic)
