  1. It's pretty simple to see if a roll happened or not. go to a RC sim and check the version #. I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to do so, and figure out the answer.
  2. Local textures is a nice feature, here's a video showing it in action: http://www.screenr.com/WMY8
  3. For those unaware, Annmarie is currrently engaged in the practice of rezzing self-replicating vehicle distributors on LL owned rez zones. These objects use tricks to get around the auto-return time on those rez zones. This is in violation of the community standards and the more likely reason her bot got banned.
  4. Yes, SSA is defintely gone from LeTigre. The logs show it. Common sense dictates that when LL tells everyone to update viewers by July 9 because SSB is being rolled out and a month later its no where in sight on the main channel, as i said i assume there are problems. Thats just commom sense Well it was common sense that they *did* start rolling SSA to the main grid by July 9th, to RC sims. That was never a guarantee it would be grid wide by then. Poor Linden Labs, if they rushed it out with bugs, they would get blasted. If they are slow and careful to make sure that doesn't happen, they are blasted. Just can't win either way.

Ayesha Askham wrote: It is specious and not a little insulting :smileysurprised: to the Firestorm developers to suggest that any features that they incorporate in any way negatively affect the performance of the prim rezzing. Any impact, as is reported above, is beneficial not negative. Wow. Someone's drinking the Koolaid. Do you really believe FS is incapaoble of making any mistakes? I seem to recall recently the released a viewer that was spamming LL's servers with debug info. Oops! Firestorm has just as much culpability for any bugs they introduce, as LL does. And it does happen. No code is perfect, and I am sure the FS devs would agree heartily. As for the Missing Prim issue, I can say with the latest LL viewers, the problem is greatly reduced. I can't say how it is for FS. But if they are still having serious issues with that viewer, it doesn't take a genius to understand something must be wrong there.

Soho SpiritWeaver wrote: I am seeing an identical issue to what happened with the last SSA rollout on LeTigre - I filed a ticket - this is what happened last time and is not repeating since LeTigre went back to SSA Thanks for the great work on SSA - but I am now having major troubles on a LeTigre region (Engine Nine) - my workshop is here and I can't get attachments or system clothes to come off. I think I have them off, relog and they are back on again. Thought I could solve it by tp'ing to my home which is on a regular channel - but I can't tp directly. I have to tp somewhere else, then to my home. So after I got everyone squared away and am wearing the outfit I want to work on - I can't take it off - (shirt and pants) - they only way to get the clothes off is to do a double tp to my home, wait til they come off (almost immediately) and then back to LeTigre The only difference this time is that after the relog, I ended up wearing three outfits - - a combo of all - heading off to request a restart - which seemed to fix it last time. You don't mention what viewer you're using. I have seen similar behaviour, but only on one TPV that doesn't handle the Current Outfit Folder correctly.
  8. There is currently a bug with object physics and rezzing. Easy to test. Create a large, flat prim, like 10 meters square or more. Rez a cube on top of it. Select the big prim, then Shjft select the small cube, and Link You should have it now so the small cube is the root prim. If not, start over! Turn on "Edit Linked", and select the big prim. Go to the Features tab, and set it's physics to "None" Enjoy your "no rez zone". Basically if a prim is set to Physics none, it's completely 100% impossible to rez anything upon that surface. For mesh builds especailly, it's very common to use custom physics shapes that do not completely conform to the actual visual mesh, and should people try to rez on these areas, this is the result. I don't know if anyone has reported this issue (since BUGs are hidden), but someone should.
  9. Gadget Portal wrote: That'll be a problem for people that aftermarket texture vehicles- most of the popular vehicles are sold no mod, and require a UUID to apply the texture. With temp textures, that worked fine. Don't know what you're trying to say, Temp Textures wouldn't be good for any vehicle, since they are temporary in nature. And if you're implying you can't get the UUID of a real, non-temp texture, you're completely wrong. Any full perm texture can be right clicked and "Copy Asset UUID" chosen. So as far as UUIDs go, there is no issue at all.

This was what I was thinking. Either that, or the card is heating up components on his sound card enough to cause them to produce a noise, but that would be rare. My gut is it's the GPU fan spooling up, even though he claims it's not. The fan will run at 60-100% with SL running, while usually at 30% or less when it's not. that's normal for graphic intesnsive games.
  11. I don't know, but to me it sounds like a classic case of your video card overheating. Which may not be due to a 'griefer' at all. It could just be more in the sim to draw than your computer can handle. I would suggest getting this utility: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/ It's a video card system monitor. Go to the Sensors page so you can see the GPU Temperature. Then run SL and watch the temp in normal sims, and then compare to the temp in that particular sim. I suspect you'll find it's highly elevated in that sim for some reason.

  13. Sky Linnaeus wrote: Just noticed this today when trying to upload some textures... The "Temporary Upload" option is no longer available on Magnum regions. It's still available on the others. FWIW: I've been noticing the same clothing issues others are mentioning. Temp Textures was always an unsupported Hack, that 'hijacked' part of the Clothing bakig system for the purpose of making temp textures. It's been known when LL moves to SSB, that hack would break. That's why long in advance, a replacement system was created, called Local Textures. When applying a texture, switch over to Local. Then you can add textures on your local hard drive to appear on inworld items, without uploading. As you modify the textures on your hard drive, they will automatically update inworld. Then once you have the texture as you want, you can upload it. Works for sculpts too.
  14. There is currently one issue with SSB: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SUN-98 Basically if you have a clothing layer that references a bad texture, it causes that whole body section to go grey. In the past, bad textures were ignored. So all you need to do is find out which item you're wearing that has a bad texture, and remove it. (Bad textures usually display as all grey). Also it would be good to report the name and creator of the bad item on that JIRA, so they know this isn't an isolated incident. The more reports, the more likely it will be fixed.
  15. Sarah Passerine wrote: This is why the conversation has moved to the jira. The issue has been traced to the viewer receiving bad Content-Length headers from http://bake-texture.agni.lindenlab.com. I don't know if this is happening on LL's side, T-Mobile's side, the NSA's side, or whatever, but at least the problem has been identified! My bet would be on T-Mobile. Mobile internet providers are known for doing a lot of tampering with HTTP traffic. In fact there are even documented cases where they decrypt HTTPS traffic to HTTP and then spoof it as still being HTTPS to speed up transfer times. As a general rule, Mobile internet isn't very trustworthy, reliable, or robust.
  16. The way you can find out is to keep monitoring these threads. The new schedule for releases is posted every Monday. And yes, SUN is the designator for SSA bugs.
  17. Sarah Passerine wrote: If it is some sort of unfixable problem due to the network type, then at least we know the new method isn't as robust as the previous way of doing things. Except that the failure could be completely coincidental, and have nothing to do with SSB. If you stub your toe the same day Justin Bieber releases an Album, you can't with certainty correlate that the Album release caused your toe to stub..

I know this is as it should be but it hasn't been the case for the last several months so a big THANK YOU to Linden Labs for fixing that nasty little bug! It may have worked this time, but I wouldn't count on that always being so. It's still best policy to save your work before a restart.
  19. If you read my post, you will see I mentioned the notecard thing. Nothing to be surprised at me about. I always cover every base. And yay for the coming fix.
  20. SSB is only on about 1/20 of the Grid. so very unlikely it has anything to do with your issues.
  21. Ayesha, I live on a LeTigre sim, so any issues LeTire may have, would be very apparent to me. I upload textures daily. No issues. I upload mesh daily. No issues. I don't see any issues with uploading assets at all. The only thing iI *do* know of is the old Landmark in a notecard bug is back on LeTigre. If you drop a Landmark, or other item into a notecard and try to save it, it will fail. LL already knows, and I assme is working on that. And if by some chance you mean these "Unable to upload Asset Errors": That just means you're on a Viewer that Doesn't Support Server Side Baking! The old style appearance is disabled, so any attempt by the viewer to upload locally baked textures fails. That is normal and correct behavior. Upgrade your viewer! Ayesha Askham wrote: Maestro It is now clear that there is a significant BUG on LeTigre: whether from the activation of SSA or from the new code is not known to most of us. It is also clear that this bug, involving upload of assets, is server-side and not down to a user connection, since a server error is logged. The fact that the code was running, apparently without issues, on the servers last week rather suggests that it is SSA-related. My question is this: If this is an "unexpected" failure, why was this potential issue not fully tested on Agni servers prior to the SSA roll-out? On the whole SSA seems to be working well, but if it turns out to be borking the servers, you have a problem. ETA: no point in posting the BUG Numbers since no-one else can access them.:smileyfrustrated:

  23. I can only relate my own experience. A couple weeks ago, I logged into my sim on a Wednesday, got a "one minute to restart" message, and high tailed it to another sim. So to me that indicates logging in to an ongoing count does get you included into the countdown. Why it doesn't work for some, I have no idea.
  24. Ehhh, that's a bad hack to rely on. I guess you thought calling with 0 released permssions, but that's not been the case for a very long time, see this JIRA: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-1006 There is no way to release perms, short of resetting the script, or calling for a different permission. (i.e. if you aquired PERMISSION_TRIGGER_ANIMATION, then later aquire PERMISSION_DEBIT without again asking for PERMISSION_TRIGGER_ANIMATION, the animation permission is lost.) That being said, I think this should fall under legacy behavior as I'm sure many older scripts still use this convention, even though it doesn't actually peform any action. Gets a +1 from me.
