  1. hmm ... when i had the very same problem just clearing the cache is what solved the it. Do you have different viewers installed that share the same cache ?If you use more then one viewer it's important that each one has their own cache.
  2. Have you tried clearing your cache yet ? it might help.
  3. Hello Vincent, The very same thing happened to me some time ago and the good news is that it IS possible to log in, your friend only needs to do it at a certain time. Four times an hour something in the server is updated, that takes a few seconds. During those few seconds the system doesn´t know/think that your friend is online already and will allow him to log in. In my case those moments were every hour exactly and every quarter of an hour. So what your friend needs to do is start the viewer, follow the time closely and log in at the moment it switches from say 14:59 to 15:00 or from 15:14 to 15:15 etc. Be quick, it's only a few seconds. When logging in it's probably best to have the name of the region the ghost is in typed in already as teleporting will probably log him out again (that happened when I tried anyway) but he will be able to walk and cross sim borders (I could anyway) At the moment avi and ghost are in the same region the ghost will disappear and things will be back to normal again. When my avi was ghosted I got the advice to just keep trying to log in and ignore all error messages until I would get in. Maybe the moment to log in is different for different servers, I don't know, but I would sure try those "easy" times first.

  5. That's not the case, the objects are of the right mesh size. I know for sure as i have made sculpties from them before. Importing them in Jass as object files seems to go allright too. What doesn't go is baking the sculptie.
  6. Hello, If i try to bake a sculptie in Jass-pro i receive an error message "No root prim selected, nothing to do" I get this message only if i try to bake a sculptie of an object i made with another program and then imported as *.obj. If i create the object in Jass itself i have no problems. Am i forgetting something ? Thanks
  7. I had this once on my leg, it came from an invisi tattoo i used with my shoes. You may try using a different hair base.
  8. Thank you very much for the extensive reply Chosen. Your explanation made the meaning of mesh a lot clearer to me and i'm sure sooner or later it will take over but right now it isn't time yet, at least not for me, i have no intention of selling things outside of SL and my viewer doesn't support it, that may also color my view a bit. *.DAE is for mesh right ? ... pitty

With very few exceptions for specific use cases, sculpties are all but obsolete at this point. Certainly not as long as i don't have Blender up and running witch was the reason to post here in the first place. Besides mesh maybe hot among builders, i'm not sure in SL most people have even heard about it yet and i believe older viewers will still be around for a long time. That's someting to think about when you want to sell things. but apart from that ... I've seen what i can do with oblongs and using them to make those items seemed an easy way of doing it. Why is it so much easier and more efficient to use mesh for that ?
  10. Sculpty painter is easy to use allright but i doubt it allows me to create oblong sculptsies and i do want to use those because i think they are great for making windows, fences, loggs, planks etc.
  11. I can create oblong sculpt meshes in Wings but i can't create the bitmaps, the program just doesn't know how to handle that. If i create a bitmap in Wings then it will be a square one even with an oblong sculpt mesh. If i import to Blender i use .obj files and this goes well but when i try to create the bitmap i receive an errormessage. "Python scripterror: check console" is what it says. This goes for all bitmaps btw. not just the long ones. And i've run into this time after time and i'm just unable to fix it so now i'm looking for another program to do it with.
  12. Hello, I do want to create oblong sculpties. I am using Wings3d and it think that works great however ... I can create the sculpties themselves in Wings but the program doesn't have the option of exporting oblong bitmaps. So the idea was to create the sculpties in Wings and export them, import in Blender and create the bitmaps using that. If i try to create a bitmap in Blender however i receive an error message at best. I've installed and de-installed different versions of Blender, Python and Primstar about a dozen times now and seem unable to get it working and i am so so sick and tired of trying ... So now the question; Does anyone know another program that lets me import sculpts and create oblong bitmaps ? Exporting just seems like the easiest way of doing it. I'm not tied to Wings though for the creation of sculpts but i do like the ease of use and the versatility. thanks
  13. Textures in SL have sides with a length of 64 / 128 / 256 / 512 / 1024 pixels. The effect of the white halo's on textures disapeared when i started to resize my textures in Gimp before importing them instead of having SL do that automaticaly while importing.
  14. In order to be able to export a sculpt it must have one of the following mesh sizes 8x7 / 16x15 / 31x32 / 64x 63. The message you receive is one you get if your sculpt is of a different size. I think you either didn't use one of the initial templates or you added / removed some meshes. Initial templates are where you downloaded the plug-ins, they are the *.wings files. Open one of those for a start and do not add or remove any of the meshes.
  15. I've never seen anything like a grid :smileysad: but maybe it helps if i look better. I don't think it will work for what i'm making right now though as that definately needs flat surfaces. So ... i have to find an other way of doing it i suppose. Thank you verry much for your explanation Gaia, it makes it a lot clearer to me
  16. I have done that allready, for nice edges you should do that anyway and the straight sculpts do look perfect. The rotating is what couses the bumps i think.
  17. Hello everyone I am trying to make cylindrical shaped sculpts in Wings3D. The straight ones are perfect but as soon as i bend them the ends become bumpy. In SL they become bumpy that is, after i've bended them they are still perfectly flat in Wings3D. I've tried bending the cylinder without the edges, then rotate the edges separately and move them into place but that has the same result. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening or is it normal ? Thanks
