Sorry to have caused such perplexity by my use of the words "spurious flannel". The word spurious really means not absolutely necessary and the word flannel in this context is a Brit wernacular for what is more commonly known as bull**bleep**. Therefore spurious flannel = unnecessary bull**bleep**. Hope this ends any doubt there is about what I meant, but basically when I'm in the chat or in an IM I probably use more words than I need to!

No more spurious flannel this time, just to say thanks to everyone for taking the trouble to reply, I hope you all have a very Happy New Year both in SL and RL.

Hey, thanks everybody, I realise now where they are coming from, so if I just tilt my head by 90 degrees I will get a full pictorial representation of the intended emotion and the way round the brackets are placed will express the implied thoughts of the perpetrator concerning their feelings at that moment? Can I just say that evrything I've typed after the words "coming from" could definitely be considered "spurious flannel", hope that helps! Been on SL a wee while now but I have still not worked out what people mean in local chat when they use symbols instead of words. I mean things like (:or:) or :-))). Is this a recognised form of communication or are residents just letting me know my spurious flannel is becoming profoundly annoying? Any help would be much appreciated and will not result in an outburst of "spurious flannel"! Thankyou

Thanks Venus, but I'm logged in and there is no icon in the chat/destinations/etc toolbar, it was there when I had the previous version but I was in advanced mode there and I can't see what mode I'm on now. Sorry

Silly question really but since upgrading to the latest version I haven't been able to work out how to take a snapshot. Any help for a confused old Scotsman would be much appreciated!

Thanks Kenbro, but the problem actually worked itself out. I have a pretty crazy email server who is very choosy about what he sends out and he chose not to send my reply. However I was able to contact the person through the group chat so the reply was not necessary. Thanks for taking time to send such a detailed reply and I'm glad it was useful to someone else.

Hi everyone, I quite often receive emails from people in a group and on the email there is an option to reply. I was wondering if this option will direct the said reply to the sender's SL message box or would it go to their own personal email address? I would like to contact someone in this way but would not want them to think I had accessed their RL email address. I hope this enquiry makes sense to everyone and I thank you in advance for any feedback. Neil
