If you need one particular thing, it's not unlikely at all that you can only find one thing like that in all of SL. That doesn't leave the consumers with much power... Practice just walking away. After a while it becomes quite easy

I don't understand the reference " they are busy enough as it is bringing us quality items and maintaining the stores and merchandises" Creators (god bless them, i'm not worthy) should also be listening to customers and taking on board what those customers want. This feels all too often forgotten. Don't put "creators" on a pedestal, as a consumer handing over your money, don't be shy to communicate what you want in return. Creators with the attitude of "if I make it, they'll just have to accept what I offer" will just have to accept what consumers are prepared to spend their money on, totally fair in return. Creator argument for NO MOD: "I don't want my creation to look bad when someone edits it" Consumer argument for MOD: "once i've paid for it, it's no longer your item, "your" item looks crap on me, it doesn't fit me and it looks like you make poor fitting items". Take whichever stance you wish, let the consumer decide. People can make whatever they like with whatever permissions they like, if they don't listen to what consumers want, so be it.

YukiKikasare wrote: many of the stores i go to, or have been to, have their clothing articles as "no transfer" as opposed to "no copy". i am finding this frustrating. i have stopped buying clothing from any store which has this set on their articles as a result. i mean, for me, if i don't wear something, or it collects dust, then i should be able to give it away to someone and lose it from my inventory, especially if i paid $ for it. there so many new people out there who could and would benefit from a small gift like this, and could use something nice if it is only collecting dust (so to speak) in my inventory. this would be a better option than deleting it . so why can't clothing / fashion stores change this and make their clothing items no copy ? I generally will NOT shop anywhere where it's Transfer because then it's NO COPY. Actually throw in NO MOD and for clothing (where it has prims) it's pretty guaranteed that i'm not going to purchase. The recent trend to call "Scripted resize that still won't fit properly" as MODIFY and choosing that as the permission in the Marketplace listing is not supported by Linden Labs. I've had it stated that the permissions listed must match the Linden object permissions so i'll also happily flag it as not as advertised, incorrect permisisons every time I get one of these "Modify" but we really only meant with a script because that's the same no?" products.
  6. If they have to organise their project teams, just as with any commercial organisation, there needs to be a justification for doing so, usually a financial justification. We've had llGiveInventory for 8 years now and yes it would be nice for it to confirm delivery with an event. It doesn't. I don't recall Pink Linden ever saying "we will guarantee delivery based on systems around the current limitations of LSL". That would be one way of fixing it, Direct Delivery is intended to be another, for which there is no additional cost. Like I said, it's rather moot now.
  7. Ai Velde wrote: Whoa whoa wait. I know this was 2009 but some Linden actually, seriously said in essence: Oh sure, we can offer a 100% delivery rate, but we'll let everyone have constant failed deliveries unless they pay, of course? That's almost too dirty for me to accept as truth. Not exactly. That post just tabulates the methods of IM's and inventory transfers for the given states, nothing new really. What Pink Linden was trying to ascertain was what value would there be in having a better method for delivery and would we be prepared to pay for it. Quite a normal commercial proposition, after all, we put a price on our products as we believe they have a value to someone. One of the comments that is in that post is that llGiveInventory fails to a busy transfer because there's no method for LSL to determine busy. That's incorrect, llGetAgentInfo provides that and it strikes me as odd that no vendor with a gift function has ever bothered to implement that yet. Needless to say, it'll be in ours very shortly This isn't the same as getting a notification on delivery but it would be trivial to check that the recipient isn't busy before the gifter pays and then warn them prior to the final pay. Anyway, llGiveInventory is all we have for scripted boxes and Marketplace will have Direct Delivery so Pink's vision of us paying for more reliable delivery as far as Marketplace is concerned is rather moot now.
  8. you're off the christmas card list Ziggy lol
  9. If you know the TV show then you'll know what i'm referring to. Just as a bit of fun and also to offer someone the ability of potentially earning an income, i'm offering some residents an opportunity to enter into a bit of a competition to see who is the best marketeer, seller and hence most successful. What i'm looking for is candidates with an eye for an opening in the right place, right time who then have an ability to capitalise on that. You'll be marketing and selling my items but i'm also going to cover initial rent costs (within the defines of the scheme). If you're good, you'll establish an income, if not, then it costs me basic rent and you don't win! If you think you are a candidate, pop me an IM inworld, NOT here.
  10. It's far from beyond a modest scripters skillset, it's not "utterly trivial". I'm surprised you have received no replies. Maybe all the scripters are just busy on other things?
  11. In addition to Lyra's comment, you probably chose "add to cart" and then "buy now" or something like that. Check the quantities carefully before checkout to avoid this.
  12. File a ticket for ratings/reviews that are inappropriate due to non delivery. Add "Resident" to the single username to get the proper name. End of problems.
  13. Let me understand this right, you don't think SEO or marketing require any RL skills whatsoever? You might do better to impress someone with how hard you work and how good you are at something because my interpretation is that you're really not bothered about it and just want to pass the time. There's nothing wrong with that but from an employers perspective, assuming you want remuneration in return for services offered, it's usually pretty normal to have some effort applied on your part.
  14. What graphics adapter does the laptop have? In Phoenix, Help, About Phoenix Viewer. Copy and paste the bit with the graphics adaptor
  15. I also agree with Innula on that. I made that decision about 2.5 years ago and apart from a couple of minor issues with the product she mentions, it does what it sets out to. In terms of effective use of my time, I couldn't justify the hours spent to save $3 to get to the same point although for other political and personal reasons, i'll gladly dump that same product in a heartbeat but lets not let that cloud the better business judgement for now.
  16. If you want an inworld response, it might be better to join one of the many scripting help groups.
  17. No i'm not a Linden but the marketplace roadmap is published, it documents the demise of the magic box and the introduction of Direct Delivery. So i'm not stating opinion, merely published facts. That's about it really.
  18. Well as stated, the answer remains NO and will receive no attention from Linden Labs because magic boxes are going to be discontinued. You will just have to be patient and wait for Direct Delivery
  19. Still won't work because once all those objects are dropped into the same magic box, the object is now owned by the owner of the prim, not the alt that dropped it. You're seeking a solution which would require a lot of work to address, is trivial to address by just having one box per alt (seriously, renting half a dozen prims is a problem?) and finally, the problem that you're having will not be a problem in a very short time with Direct Delivery. Give up, it's not going to happen your way and I can't believe that anyone with multiple shops that are making a profit will really be clawing at reducing say 6 prims to 1 as a prim save. Sorry, that's just my feelings on this.
  20. Because the script for the magic box will call llGetOwner() which returns the key of the owning avatar. You cannot have multiple owned scripts like that in one prim.
  21. I have already answered that, you cannot have scripts active which are inside an object inside a prim. In that state they are not actively rezzed objects. Cannot work. End. Wait for direct delivery. I am puzzled though, several shops and yet renting say 6 prims (how many shops exactly?) which might cost maybe L$100 a month is a barrier to you? Surely your income would be more than this mere cost of doing business. Anyway, that's the answer, the options exist, cheapest one for you is do nothing, just wait for direct delivery when each avatar will be able to sell from inventory and no magic box needed.
  22. Then i'd suggest contacting a friend to let you have/rent 1 prim or use one of the "rent a prim" places that exist. Besides, in a not too far distant future you won't need a magic box anyway so option 3 is wait a little longer.
  23. Monti Messmer wrote: Haven´t tried this but can you put several magic boxes into a "standard" prim ? The only need to do is about prim count. Either you have an army of alts or very limited prims :smileywink: you cannot put a scripted object inside another object and have the scripts active. Unless the object is itself rezzed, it is merely "inventory" and the scripts will not be running so no, you cannot put a magic box inside a prim and have it work as a magic box. If there are sufficient shops mandating that several alts all have their own representation, i'd have thought that a 512m2 plot of land supporting 112 prims would be no problem at all? Sign up for an annual premium account and the difference between the cost and the pittance paid out is a handful of $.
  24. At any rate, back on point ... if a product is purchased and not delivered, the money is supposed to be returned. But what if the money being paid for unsupported products (listed by inactive and/or departed merchants) is never withdrawn by the account owner? Is that the real key to determining an inactive merchant? That they never withdraw their funds? Yes and No. Monitoring activity on the L$ flow on the account would be one thing except for freebies for which there'd be no L$ flow. Also, it wouldn't account for an alt being logged in to withdraw from the main account via a debit prim. Probably unlikely but could easily be scripted to constantly withdraw so then it would need to check the alts accounts too. Either way, it's not hard to combine a series of metrics to determine an inactive merchant and delist until they're active again.
