  1. We have several places. I own a Linden home, one of the oldest ones and I love it. Partner has a houseboat which he is considering abandoning. He is the primary owner of our Thistle Cove,, a public place for rez'ing boats, having parties, just hanging out. I am the primary owner of Mowry Bay Village and Docks, our attempt to, if not recreate the historical Mowry Bay Yacht Club and Village (associated with East River Community), at least honor those places and keep the area available for visitors and sailors. I have changed the general look of the Cove a few times but have now decided it's about right so leaving it alone. Mowry gets a few changes, mostly landscaping and small details. I also have a hidey hole place in the Snowlands where I go to be at peace. I don't make many changes there, either. I am not the sort to change things...at least not like my maternal grandmother who changed her furniture around with alarming frequency. As a rule, we try to fit whatever we are creating into the local environment...I like the look and feel of neighborhoods..doesn't matter if I know anyone nearby or not. I LOVE creating places in SL that make the two of us happy and some that exist so that we can share with others.
  2. That is your perception, not mine. It's sad that you feel that way and I hope you find ways to make SL better for yourself.
  3. I am not elderly, I am plain old OLD. I don't seek out other old people to hang with...I go where the music or the activity interests me and most times I get along pretty well with others. It's not uncommon for me to discover that there are other old people around me, but it is uncommon to be treated in a different way because I am older than most. Well,, ok, there might be a LOT of teasing but I can handle that. If it makes me laugh, so be it. So, my advice is to go looking for activities and music that make you smile and then see what happens.
  4. What Lewis advised...a roll-back might fix it all. Then, think about the people in your group and ponder why each of them as added. Perhaps you can make a new group, one that is made up of those closest to you or created by you. It's also possible that an angry outsider with tricks managed to crash the sim..can be done, has been done. Might not be one person in your group. Sorry for what you are going through. But, in the end, it's SL so it can be done over..and locked down.
  5. Thank you for sharing this, Lewis, and I SO hope the unhappiness is long gone now. Hugs!
  6. Ah, my sis-in-law went there for her Masters. She was brainy so no more Aggie jokes from my side of the family. (My father went to SMU.)
  7. I think of myself as cis-gender female in RL, I have lived my RL as a female. I present myself most times in SL as a female. (Ok sometimes I am a gender neutral mouse or ferret or male dinky cat.) But I love fart jokes in RL and in SL I am armed with fart gestures, fart bombs, whatever I can find to defile the environment around me when I am in the mood. Does that mean I am not really a woman? Bah!
  8. Interesting. When I have felt this way, it's been about me being deceitful. If I ever finish updating my male avie and take him out into the world, I'll see if the same thing happens. In the past, when I made it clear that my male avie was actually me, when I was the "male" dance partner for female friends, I had no bad feelings at all. I leave it to somebody else to figure out what all this means..or might mean.
  9. Damn! I am glad you survived and rose out of the pit of *****e...Hurray for you! Hugs!
  10. Moral panic? If I found out an SL lover was a different gender in RL, I would be outraged, hurt, and so on and so on. Because the person was a different gender? No, because a person I trusted was deceitful. Same with SL friends...deceive me, I find out, I am out of there for good. Is that what you mean by moral panic? Ok then, I react with moral panic when I find I have been deceived by those I have let get close to me.
  11. Great line! I envy the way your parents raised you. I wish all kids were raised to do whatever needs doing, to take care of themselves and others regardless of the packages they came in. And I am glad I have lived long enough to see countless folks living free of, or breaking free of, the old ways.
  12. Found it! Grabbed it! Thank you! When I have a ton more time,, I will go back and look at everything carefully. It's a step into the past, in some ways, Prokofy...a nice step.
  13. I think Ian is pretty much gone now..doing dirty work up in VA, NY, etc. I have leaves all over my deck and everything is soaking wet, but no damage and I only lost power for a minute or so last night..yay! Thank you for the concern. As for land, yay, you care about sailing and got land from whiich you can launch yourself! Yay! Maybe you will find your way to Thistle Cove in Nautilus one day...it's a long sail but can be done.
  14. I was intellectually prepared for menopause but, damn, when it became reality it shocked the living crap out of me! Mood swings? Yeah, but men have those, too.
  15. Age related..hmm. Interesting. My parents, Americans raised between 1920 and 1940, lived their lives in what I consider to be a narrow cultural bind. Mom did woman things,, Dad did man things. Women shopped,, men paid for the shopping but didn't like doing it, etc. My generation, raised between 1940 and 1960, seem to be a bit more diverse...step outside the lines a bit more so to speak. My partner, in his mid sixties now, loves to shop. I know other men of the more modern generation who love to shop. I love to shop in SL but despise it in RL.. I dunno...gender roles are stupid and confining and I don't like them.
  16. I agree. I have a male avatar that I haven't "used" for years...working on it again to modernize, update. I created it initially to wander around SL and see if people treated me in a different way. First thing I did was take him to a club I went to regularly as my female self. Immediately, some woman started yelling at me. I hadn't even had time to take a seat and there she was, screaming her head off about how I was her ex and I was there to stalk her. It was really strange. I then realized the dj was somebody I knew well and I immediately felt horrible for being deceitful. So, in IM, I told him who I was. Didn't stay there very long, it didn't feel good. Next time I took him out, it was to a gathering at another club where I knew just about everybody. Stepped into the area, said Howdy, as I usually do, it comes out me automatically. And the person nearest to me said, Howdy Cate! ...sigh... After that, I took him out only a few more times to serve as dance partner for a couple of women I knew who wanted a dance partner but not a woman. They knew who I was, just wanted the visual, you know? Anyway,, when I finally get this guy ready again, I will take him out and about and make no effort to act male..except for my AO animations which I am hoping are fairly neutral. I am me, no matter what skin I am in and I will be upfront and honest about being a heterosexual female. I have no interest in fooling anybody...but I am interested to see how I am treated. BTW, my male partner did have a female avie years ago and came away feeling appalled by the behavior of so many men toward women. It was a good learning experience for him. Anyway, IMO, the best thing to do, no matter how we look in SL, is to be ourselves. If we are in transition, then we will be reflecting that as well.
  17. I am working on a male avatar, Legacy body and Lelutka evox head. So far, so good. But I can't figure out how to save an outfit. Used to the easy peasy Maitreya so this one is driving me crazy. Can't find info, etc. Any help appreciated.
  18. I started sailing in SL within a few months of logging on the first time so I have been using the World M Map for a LONG time. The continents have gone through so many changes over time, but sailors tend to keep track because we want more options..more more! The creation of Bellisseria has helped us get more connections, more places to sail. Yay! I don't fly in SL, but I am sure those who do on a regular basis have their own perspectives about World Map, Continents, etc.
  19. I didn't spend much time checking out the area, but I don't think you can sail out of there and into Mare Secunda. If you mean sailing in SL, period, do give it a try. It's fun! Thanks for concern about Ian. He is bashing my windows with rain and wind gusts right now but, so far, no problems.. Fingers crossed.
  20. My brain can't handle the bombardment of ads and things flying around. Had to quit trying before I could figure out where the info was. Did notice Azure Islands something or other. Anyway, thanks!
  21. It really IS odd. Was looking at it on the map yesterday and wondering how it happened. I mean to go there today to check out the possibilities for sailing. OOoh wind gust in RL. I think maybe the tippy top of Ian is waving at me. Bye!
