  1. That is a huge topic. You will find a good list of starter tutorials at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Clothing_Tutorials . My all-time favorites (a little dated now, but still great for a beginner) are Natalia Zelmanov's. If you Google "Second Life clothing tutorials", you will find stacks of others. For mesh, again, start with the links at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh to get a feel for the Second Life context, and thn begin working with Gaia Clary's tutorials on the Machinimatrix site. Dig around the menus on that site to find all of them. If you go to blender.org, you will also find many tutorials at different levels. None are specific to Second Life, but you need to develop your basic Blender skills before you start working with things for SL anyway. ETA: You can buy textures from many merchants in world, but to fit them to your own work you will need to develop your Photoshop skills. As you do that, you will discover that in many cases it's easier (or at least more creative and fun) to make your own textures. Go to your neart bookstore and spend an hour or so thumbing through Photoship "how-to" books. There are dozens of them, so just find one that matches your own learning style.
  2. If you are a Premium member, you have access to Land & Region >>> Region Move Request when you open a support case at https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ . Private Region owners can request to move a region to another location on the World Map, subject to availability. Certain areas of the World Map are reserved for special purposes, including the mainland and themed expansions provided by Linden Lab. If you would like to move your region adjacent to another Resident's region, they must allow you as a neighbor in our system prior to your request for the region move. Note that your Private Region cannot be rotated, so what is currently north will always be north. There is a $150 charge to move a Private Region. This fee is charged per Private Region, for any movement. Note: Moving your Private Region causes links made from the Picks tab of the Profile window to become inaccurate. Landmarks continue to function after a move, but home locations may need to be reset. The map may take several hours to update with the new Private Region location.
  3. Gaia made several tutorial videos on rigging that are posted on the Machinimatrix site.
  4. On, not at all. Have a party. Make this a group event, like Pin the Tail on the Donkey. (Do children play that game in Spain?)
  5. Every day brings a few fun surprises. It's what keeps us coming back here. right?
  6. Exactly the same as in RL. If you stop payments, you lose the house.
  7. As pregnant as you can be in a virtual world, perhaps, but it's all pretend. If you want to continue to play that game, go ahead. If you don't, just detach the Mam Allpa and stop pretending.
  8. Take a look at Valerie's answer in this thread >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/Cannot-log-into-SL-on-my-MAC-Book-Pro/qaq-p/1635127
  9. You can always start a group and call it a "sorority" if you want to. See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Creating-managing-moderating-and-disbanding-groups/ta-p/700111
  10. Always be very careful during announced rolling restarts. Linden Lab always includes language like this in their notices, as they did this morning ... "[Posted 7:03AM PDT, 03 October 2012] We are currently performing rolling restarts for regions on the Magnum, BlueSteel, and LeTigre RC server channels. Please save all builds and refrain from rezzing any no copy objects or making inworld L$ transactions during this time." Notices of Grid Status are always shown on the login screen, so you can see them before you log in, and you can double check at http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ at any time.
  11. Wait. That's what "pending" means, after all. If you were a Premium member, your account will still be active until the end of the period that you pre-paid for. If you were Basic, your account will be cancelled in a day or so. In either case, just walk away.
  12. You might have clicked "Add" instead of "Wear" to put your new shirt on, but I'm having a hard time visualizing this from your description. Maybe it would help if you added a photo to your post. Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Then click the little icon in the Edit window that looks like a tree, and follow the obvious instructions to uplaod a photo from your hard drive. It's free, so don't worry about that. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  13. You don't have to update. If you really liked 3.2.8.248931, download it and re-install it >>> https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.2.8 . If you don't want to have automatic updates, then just UNcheck the Automatic Updates box in Preferences.
  14. Nope, that's not it. You're thinking of posting an av's profile pic. The script the OP is looking for displays text. It's possible that it's a version of Nexii Malthus's XYText script, though. Iv'e tried that one out myself and am quite impressed.
  15. Take a deep breath ..... count to ten ... and then go for a nice, long walk in a quiet place. The world will not come to an end while you take time to calm down and stop SHOUTING. You probably know already, but I shoudl remind you that there ar no Lindens here. There never are. We are all SL residents like you, and we can't do a thing except offer sympathy. We volunteer here to help people figure out how SL works (or why it doesn't), but that's the end of our limited authority. The decision about which sims or parcels make it into the Destination Guide is entirely up to the Lindens. They post the criteria, we submit, and they have total control over what gets selected. It's not meant to be "fair." It's a corporate decision. Now, if you can document that someone has violated your Intellectual Property rights, you can file a DMCA complaint, which Linden Lab has to respond to. Other than that, all you can do is move on.
  16. DreamSeeker64 wrote: Ive been trying all day as well to no avail.. I get an error. Cant log onto simulator. However, Ive also tried to go into other Sims, using their name in the login section. And still nothing.. However oddly im geting emails from owners of the Sims, so i have to assume their Sim is up.. If she can't log in to ANY sim, the problem is potentially more serious, although don't rule out the possibility that it's just squirrels in the equipment at your ISP who will be gone by morning. One possible reason for a failure to connect is that you have a DNS problem. You can deal with that by (1) Shutting off your computer, unplugging the router and modem for a couple of minutes, and then plugging them back in and restarting. That simple step may clear up everything. Or ... (2) Adding Google's free public DNS servers to whatever your ISP assigns you as a default. Here's how >>> http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ The other possibility is much harder to deal with. There's a well-known bug that can prevent you from being able to log in if you were wearing a group tag with "illegal" characters when you logged out last time. The only way to solve that problem is to get the group owner to eject you from the group. That will involve either finding someone (an alt) to talk to the owner or (if you are a Premium member) contacting Live Chat and asking them to eject you. If you are the group's owner, the second option is your only choice, since no one else can remove a group's owner.
  17. Is there a question here somewhere? That message sounds as if you have a damaged installation of your Imprudence viewer. Do a clean re-install and try again.
  18. Have you checked to be sure that they are not in your Lost & Found folder? I agree that if the items were never rezzed, they should not have left your inventory in the first place. However, if they were rezzed even briefly and then returned -- maybe they were rezzed slightly onto your neightbor's land? -- they could be in Lost & Found. I'm not sure what you mean by saying, "Last week the SAME things appeared, but only since 2 days not." Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT to explain. Maybe that would help us figure out what is happening. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  19. I have almost never had a reason to use mouselook in the past five and a half years. I have never heard of a way to get stuck in mouselook, though, whether you do it on purpose or by accident. It's a temporary state.
  20. What site? What is the question? Are you doing a survey of some kind? If so, you probably ought to trying visiting some sites to make observations.
  21. That has to be frustrating. I do sympathize. The first problem may be fairly easy to fix, if we're lucky. You didn't say exactly what the error message is, but the most common reason for that kind of failure is interference from a firewall or anti-virus routine. Many of those programs regard Second Life as a security threat, so you have to create exceptions so they'll leave you alone. See here for information about dealing with firewalls and here for configuring your anti-virus software. If that's not the problem, come back here and tell us what that error message is, so we can take another crack at it. Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread. The other problem is harder to diagnose. It sounds as if you have some scrambled user settings files. That can happen if you have several viewers installed and haven't taken pains to be sure that toey use different storage locations. Sometimes it can happen even if you are careful. The cure is probably to do a clean reinstall of the viewers that you really want to use, and delete the others. Always install the one you will use as you main viewer last. A clean reinstall is not as simple as using the Window utility to remove the current version and install a new one. You have to remove all traces of the previous installation, including the AppData files, where the damage probably is. See here for instructions that apply to any of the viewers. Again, if that doesn't solve the problem, come back and tell us so we can try Plan B.
  22. If you have permission from the landowner, you can terraform your parcel with the terraform toolset in your Build/Edit tool (CTRL + 3). It's activated with the little bulldozer icon in the upper row of icons. Land owners or members of groups with the Always Allow Edit Terrain ability assigned to their role can edit terrain. Members in a role with this ability can edit terrain on a group-owned parcel. Important: Assigning Always Allow Edit Terrain to a group role gives the members in that role full access to the Edit Terrain tool. This includes the Abandon Land option. For this reason, landowners are usually VERY cautious about assigning terraforming ability. Also note that even if you have the ability, there are limits on how much you can change the land. Most mainland can be raised/lowered by 4 meters (+/-). Some mainland cannot be terraformed, including: Bay City Regions, Blumfield, Boardman, Brown, De Haro, Nautilus City Regions, Nova Albion Regions, Shermerville Regions, and West Haven. A few, very old mainland Regions like Da Boom have a terraform range of 40 meters (+/-). Estate (private island) terraformability is settable to a maximum of 100 meters (+/-) by the estate owner or managers. To learn more about terraforming, start here >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Editing-terrain/ta-p/700061 . Please take the advice in that page seriously: "Before trying this tool on your own land, teleport here, where Torley Linden has set up a Terraform Box. Test the Edit Terrain tool and become comfortable with it, then head to your own land to terraform with confidence."
  23. That's one unusual house. How did you "open" it? If you double clicked on it, that was a command to attach it to yourself. If you want to rez your house, first find a place where you are allowed to rez objects and is large enough to put your house. (A sandbox or land that you own or are renting are good choices.) Then, LEFT-click on the house in your inventory and drag it to the ground.
