  1. Years ago, FB purged a number of SL avatars' accounts, including mine and Strawberry Singh's (now Strawberry Linden) because we were fictional characters.  Within the last month, I tried to open an Instagram account and could not do it, so I suspect that there is a Meta-wide ban.

  2. Does it happen everywhere, or only at some location(s)?

Years ago, I had a similar issue that only occurred when I was at home. It turned out that a rifle that was designed to be worn, and to function as an AO causing the user to move in a way that fitted a person carrying a rifle that I had rezzed to use as decor was the problem. When I deleted it, the issue resolved.

Your unwanted animation continued after you removed everything except shape, skin, system eye, and system hair, correct?

I think this is kinda big, potentially. Have they ever tasked a manager solely with overseeing development of "the user experience" before? And insisted upon someone willing to embed themselves in the community in order to gauge what is needed, and what will work?

It's also important, surely, because it's more evidence that LL wants not merely to keep this platform alive, but to grow it. Companies holding on to a dying asset with a view to merely wringing every last drop of profit from it don't create positions like this. This isn't just a "holding action": it's an attempt to be forward thinking.

And finally . . . it'll be interesting to see if this means that LL intends to be more "hands-on" in terms of the continued evolution of SL over the next while. The tendency, as we all know, has been for the company to leave, for all intents and purposes, the actual experience of SL up to resident creators, community-builders, and so on. Does this signal a slight shift in that paradigm? And what are the ramifications of that?

I agree wholeheartedly. We have seen other indications that LL management has taken a more active interest in increasing the number of users, like the how-to videos.

I am delighted to see these developments.

Hello, does anyone know how much should I blur png images that go inside a mesh picture frame? The images I have a very crisp but seeing art pictures on the grid they all seem to have a blur. Does anyone know how much of a blur should be added to art images so it would look more 'real' in world?

    Thank you.

I don't know, but you could experiment with uploading lower resolutions.

but.... the uppermost part is only available on 'undershirt' layer, meaning almost all BoM tops till go OVER the pants, which I (even RL) never do :)
    - the other candidate was on tattoo-layer only.

It might be worth messagiing the seller to see if they will sell you other layers.

I saw it explained once in support chat that the ability to do this was always a bug and it caused fetching issues for inventory, and that's why it was 'fixed'.

It has caused no fetching issues for my inventory. If it causes them with others' inventories, then the fetching issues should be fixed without removing a valuable feature.

  7. Meshes, like all other digital things, are just collections of numbers stored in memory or files, that are interpreted by programs according to rules to represent 3D objects. Drag-and-drop editing consists of a program interpreting certain user inputs as making certain changes in numbers in memory. Therefore, it seems that drag-and-drop editing of meshes should be possible, but it's not.

    What am I missing?

  8. Please, please, please restore our ability to create regular folders inside the My Outfits (LL viewer) or Outfits (FS) folders. I use regular folders to organize outfits, particularly seasonal ones. I have a folder named for each season. Heretofore, I would drag the out-of season folder out and put it in a storage folder to unclutter my outfits list and drag the current-season folder into the outfits folder. Now, the regular folders that I previously created inside my Outfits folder are still there. I can rename them,  create regular folders inside them, drag regular folders into them. I cannot create or drag a regular folder to be a subfolder of Outfits.

Fortunately, I can still move outfits in and out of the Outfits folder by selecting them, not the folder. It was handier when I could just move the folder.

This bug is tracked with this JIRA issue: BUG-232037.

It happens systematically 2 days and 21 hours after each sim restart in my home sim, and is darn annoying (since it means the sim gets restarted thrice a week: on rolling restart and twice after it, to ”fix” this missing-friends-on-login issue).

I regularly nag Lindens (@Rider Linden and @Simon Linden) at the SUG . Sadly, and despite the added burden it imposes on SL support (with the resulting many sim restart requests), it does not seem to be very high on LL's priority list. ☹️

Feel free to nag with me (post in the JIRA, come and complain at the SUG, etc) !...

Can you elaborate on how it works? Does what you see depend on when the sim you are in was restarted or when the sim the resident whose status you are looking was restarted?

If someone is helping you update or fix your avatar, do you prefer to walk through it with explanations or just want a quick fix and don't care about the in depth stuff?

    Just wondering.

It depends on the circumstances. If I have a problem that I need to solve quickly so I can do something urgent, I just want it fixed at that time. If I am under no time poressure to get it fixed, then I want to understand as much as I can.

Those look like they are Applier only -- are there system layers for BOM?

Yes. Mine came with a system pants and undershirt (for the upper part) system layers.

The MP description could certainly be clearer, but it does say that they are for classic avatars. It's too bad sellers don't spell things out better. When they make it this subtle, I suspect they lose sales to new people who don't know that BOM and classic-avatar compatibility are the same.

Well, if you can just change your first name only then what I said can be disregarded. I've never had a system last name to know how it works.

One's original name will always be available to change back to, whether one has changed first, last, or both names.

Hello all I need some advice. Noticed recently that at many places I go to there seems to be an ongoing issue with loading textures. Also I have just made some shoes and uploaded some 1024 sized textures that are jpegs. Those textures are really struggling to load on the shoes as i'm trying to click to change my shoe textures. Though it isn't just a problem with textures of the shoes being slow and not loading fast. I have had problems with textures at events and places I have gone to that also struggle with loading textures. Anyone got any good advice on how I can get textures to load faster inworld. Thanks.

I do not claim to be knowledgeable.

I notice very slow loading of textures sometimes. It seems to me that it's just that some days SL is slow to load textures, and other days, it's much faster. I do not think it has anything to do with my computer, which is quite powerful, or my connection, which is 1,000 gbps fiber. These don't change significantly over the short term like texture-loading speed does.

The only thing that I know of that I can do to speed loading is decrease draw distance drastically, which doesn't really speed it up, but does seem to make the textures that are close load faster.

Yes, that is how it works. If you need to NOT pay extra when switching plots you have to gamble a bit. It is the most land you held in the last month -- even for a second.   Sorry. Many to most of us learned the hard way and sometimes there IS no other way except to pay just once.

Also make sure that in the web backend that you have your current land that you want only.  This changes from time to time but in the past it would set your tier at that higher level until you changed it.  I don't think it is that way any longer but again it could change so looking is good.

Now, it just charges you for what you used during the billing month. I keep mine set to the highest level.
